I don't know if i could of let him go, I wouldn't of want to kill him either, but if I let that guy go I probably wouldn't be able to step out side for a while
Actually a hornet IS a type of wasp. Also a Giant Hornet is found in Japan, not UK. The markings on your one are different from the Giant Hornets found in Japan.
I've had 2 in Walsall near birmingham in the uk. And at 4 in the morning I woke up to a white faced hornet making a racket in my spotlight... Those are supposed to be in America man!
It's a female, and it is a wasp! The term wasp refers to a large order of insects of which the insects commonly called hornets are subfamily or genus!
It's a normal "European Hornet", Vespa Crabro! It's not one of those Asian giant hornets you might have seen on National geographic!... but it is huge compared to the nomal yellow-jackets!
before some year's i had one im my house (also in the kitchen), 2 times in switzerland, both of them was absolutly huge, enormous ! incredible,i kill both of them, one in the microwave (in a glass) and another with a huge quantity of insecticide, when i was looking how she died in the microwave i had regrets .. lol .. but the idea to have hundred of them was stronger ..
im sure she was unaware but these can kill children, catrs, dogs and in some cases adults so the sensible thing to do would have been to call the authorities. i take it that it was a giant japanese hornet?
@Left4Clown Not really a lot of oxygen under glass, it's a partial vaccum, fire cannot exist without oxygen. If there were ventilation holes it would be epic.
you were lucky you weren't stung by this thing. It is as someone else has already not a UK insect, and it has potent venom that could potentially kill a human. Thats scary stuff. hope this thing wasn't set free.
if that thing was in my house i would de not because it stung me but of fright i had a yellow jacket infestation in my house and in 1 month i got stung 11 times and thats my age I HATE BEES
Very sad and actually quite ignorant, this is clearly a Hornet and they do far more good than harm, and they are not aggressive merely defensive, I used to get lots of them in my rather large workshop in Norfolk U.K. and used to just carry them outside.the first one I ever had in the Workshop was almost as big as my little finger some 21/2 inches long and around 1/2 inch fat. They catch not so nice insects in flight.
I wouldn't have been calm enough to capture it under a wine glass. I would've been screaming and running for the hills. Either that or I would have died instantly from a heart attack after seeing that. That made my skin crawl just from watching that. My god it was buzzing loudly!
@PirateThom You'd wonder why the nextdoors lawn mower was going then realies it's this things buzz. " Get a newspaper!!". F**k that, Get that sheet of hardboard."
This is a Cicada killer wasp. or sand hornet. You don't see them for very long. Males come out in mid July - early August. They live in the ground, with the entry/exit about the size of a dime. The females rarely sting unless provoked. Males will dive-bomb your head but have no sting. By early September most have died.
After Waldo the Wasp was set free he went on to live a normal life. Shortly after this humiliating video was uploaded he killed the two woman responsible.
WTF, YOU DIDNT KILL HIM? I WOULD FUKING USE FLAME THROWER BURN HIM AND USE ANTI BUG SPRAY SPRAY ALL OVER MY HOUSE AND FLASH HIS REMAIN IN TO THE GODDAMIT TOILET AND TAKE A SHOWER THROW AWAY THE CLOTHES I WORE THAT DAY....
whilst watching this video the cable of my headphones brushed my skin,i swear i nearly had a heart attack,i fucking hate wasp, wont be watching this again in a hurry.
