@IcyScythe The one at the beginning of the video is 'Aikea-Guinea', the second one where she performs is 'Love's Easy Tears', the third one with the outdoor video is 'Pearly Dewdrops-Drops', the fourth one is 'Aikea-Guinea' again, the next two after that is 'Song to the Siren' by This Mortal Coil, and the final one is a repeat of 'Love's Easy Tears'.
with their soft spoken rambling comments you'd think they were some forgettable offbeat dreamer band. you'd never know you are looking at one of the greatest most visionary artistic groupings of the 20th century.
What is this video clip from? The interviewer appears to be a japanese woman and the japanese subtitles are not very accurate. This interview may have been done when they were on tour in japan in 1986 - wait, was it 1987?
God I Love them...and I am what you would term a metal/punk guy...go figure! Heaven or Las Vegas is my alltime favorite CD...and the Smiths "How Soon Is Now (album version) my favorite song.
Any minute I expect Godzilla to come stomping into the interview session!
This is just too cruel to try a mind meld and mentally synchronize this mess... yeesh. I had to listen without looking at it. Thanks for sharing, though.

I used to have hair like that back when, oh the 80's were a HEADY time weren't they, used to have to slide down in the driver's seat of my car in order for my hair to fit.
3 young scots doing their damndest to strike a memorable pose...and inventing a music to transport them MILES away from their tawdry,grey background.

I'm just becoming familiar with the Cocteau Twins' body of work. What song is playing at the beginning of the clip? Thanks
metaclip 1 year ago
@metaclip
Spanglemaker I believe.
This seems to be from the early mid 80s,
so check the EPs from that time too.
For a more authentic listening experience,
consider that we listened primarily on vinyl & cassette,
so we generally put the needle on the record
& let it play through,
letting the music wash over us,
trying to contain the emotion...
billiamian 1 year ago
@metaclip It's Aikea-Guinea

xXElMananaXx 1 year ago
@xXElMananaXx One of my favourites too, it's 'Love's Easy Tears' off a 3-track 12" from 1986...
Love's Easy Tears
Those Eyes That Mouth
Sigh's Smell Of Farewell
When it was re-released on CD, an extra track was added called 'Orange Appled', all really beautiful songs

One of the worst examples of the curse of youtube - bad synchronization! It makes an interesting interview into a weird kind of mental exercise.

They were the real punks! I love them, especially Liz;
Do you know where this interview was taken?
Jeannot090207 3 years ago
I finally found out that it was taken in 1986, if this is right.
Jeannot090207 3 years ago
It definately was an interview when music was taken more seriously than it is now days.

I don't know why but Liz's voice has always made me cry. I don't know what she's singing about most of the time but it wrenches my heart out.
brendem1 4 years ago
One reason why I like her voice is that she sings in her Scottish accent, which is quite rare outwith folk music.
