Why does everyone think Ma Ti is helpless? He's a freaking Professor X. He can summon hordes of angry animals, mind control people, and communicate telepathically. Hell, there's even an episode where an evil alternate version of him uses his ring to mind control the entire planet. He could probably tell all the villains to shoot themselves in the head if he wasn't such a pacifist.

@Disneythievesrock This just my thoughts but Ma-Ti is a rather weak in the face conflict. In contrast there is anime called UFO Robo Grendizer, where the main character Duke Fleed, who at his heart is a pacifist, but he also accepts that in order to protect Earth from the forces of King Vega he has to fight piloting Grendizer. I can also cite Amuro Ray in Mobile Suit Gundam who is only 15, he trying to survive the horror of the One Year War by the piloting the Gundam.

You know, I recently watched Transformers Supergod Masterforce and its amusing there a "Ma-ti like" character in that show yet but not a pansy as Ma-ti, and instead of a worthless heart ring, he has a pair of bracelets that allow him to transform into a Headmaster and fight against the Decepticons.

There are cartoons of greater caliber than this. 12. Did I mention 'Captain Planet himself' all ready?

Some of the episodes from the first season have an anime feel to them. It's not anime,but some of the character designs and animation style reminds me of it.

@entityk14 Its not uncommon, most American animation producers will go overseas to such companies as Toei, AIC, Artmic, and Akom for the primary animation. Hell, Shinji Aramaki (who's works include Mospeada, Appleseed, and Bubblegum Crisis) did the mecha designs for MASK and that was an American show

@entityk14 Try this one on for size, in the anime OAV series Megazone 23 Thundercats and Silverhawks were presented as injokes since even though they were Rankin Bass creations but the animation house AIC who done Megazone 23 and other anime such as the Bubblegum Crisis, Gall Force, Riding Bean and Gall Force also did the animation for Silverhawks and Thundercats.
