@rodier2 Not much really - The amount of calibration time needed meant that further progress was annoying rather than fun, and got in the way of any other things made for it. Their are newer drivers which are much, much nicer and come with a 3d game to test it with, but still the same problems.

I have one of these and it's really unique. I mostly relax with it by controlling vertical bars that represent alpha, beta and theta waves. This practise uses the mind, only. UT3 is also fun.

it takes too much input in order to get the nia to respond for alot of concurrent operations at one time, so all you really need to do is use the mouse to fine tune your aiming, but other than that, the nia controls everything else.

You don't exactly think about something and it does it, it's more like your mind picks it up. When you first use it you do learn how to move to get you started, after that your mind picks things up on its own without you realising, and the next time you use it you know what your doing more and more. It's why it takes so long to master.

A bit of advice, not a bad video, but I would rather see the screen and have you do a set number of tasks in a set order, then compare them to a mouse and keyboard - because really thats what everyone is wondering - whether its better than standard options.

Also no need for long shots of your head, theres no real point in focusing on anything but the screen.

I'm inclined to think this kind of equipment has more use for say someone who is paralyzed and in an electric wheelchair. Or even someone missing an arm.

but I must say, using it for leasure is very enticing. I'm thinking combining it with the wii-board, which can be used while sitting in a chair, and you get to strafe and run and jump just by leaning sideways, forward and tapping the board, while using the headgear for the rest.

meh the mouse is where most of the skill is in these games anyway, all he's improving is how fast he fires, which 90% of the time isn't a problem. The real skill in FPS is getting the drop on your opponents, listening to sounds that give your opponent away, and aim.

I think the more realistic use for this product would be in squad based games. Leave the running and gunning to your fingers because that's what will keep you alive. Use the NIA for squad commands or any passive ability/command. ie: bring up a map, moving AI squads, switching camera modes, etc. Personally, I haven't seen any compelling reason to buy this product. Especially if a hand has to touch somthing to ground you out. <=/

a few things to note first of all when u discharge urself u need to touch metal that is grounded as i found out when i worked in a studio and also the reason that u have to keep ur hand on sumthing metal is because you are right in the middle of a huge amount of electrical goods, the lil mixer of yours uses up alot on its own mainly coz im guessing it has phantom power so that along with a stupid amount of overloaded power sockets is causing the electrial signal in the head set to be distorted

The nia has great keyboard and shortcut support - you can map paste, or zoom (control and - ) for instance to a high level jaw reaction, (emg), things like that.

If anyones wondering why no update still - I got a new phone, which is what I use to record these! Once I'm used to it and I get back into it, Should update. Currently though, they FINALLY bought out true 64bit vista drivers. Now I can try it on my laptop!
