  • @Sauron767

This song is part of his 4-disc mix-tape titled "We Are Hip-Hop, Me, You, Everybody".

  • Did Hi-Tek produce this? Regardless, Black Star for life!

  • This is why in a rap i said:

"we in 'another world', call me mos def, I can't hear your word's,

treat the mic like a baby, cut the cord,

when i wanna act a fool i wait til' April 1st,

your rude inconsistent behavior implies that you're a nerd"

Love those bar's i made, and i love this song.

  • Like this comment if the people who gave this a thumbs down are trick ass marks.

  • Mos and Kweli are the best pair in hip hop. Peace be upon these brothers.

  • Whether you Indian, Dominican, Jamaican or Bolivian,

no matter what district, quarter, or part of town you livin' in, I recommend you listenin' to these distinguished gentlemen

  • @bsauced you're missing a few ethnicities. lol

  • @bsauced 1. You're not Indian, Dominican, Jamaican or Bolivian unless you were born in India, Dominica, Jamaica or Bolivia.

    2. What's wrong with the other nations?

    3. If immigrants spend all their time segregating themselves because they believe they are from their grandparent's land, then we don't stand a chance.

  • @ozipk

i think my man 'bsauced' didnt mean any disrespect - he was just quoting what the mighty Mos spit starting @ 2:52

  • Comment removed

  • @dinigi he was quoting Mos Def's verse dude, you need to wake up lol

  • Comment removed

  • "Makin profits like Spacely Sprockets" HA! Talib is so fresh

  • This remix is lovely. I love finding the remixes that fit. PERFECT

  • BLACKSTAR ALBUM IS STILL HOT!!

  • haha "Talib puts the Kweli in quality"

  • haha i love when he says th, my name is in the middle of eKWELIty

  • Talib Kweli an Mos yes

  • which album is this from?

  • black star

  • They really define current conscious hip-hop in my mind. No other cats are doing what they do. I'm still loving hip-hop

  • take snoop an puff out of there an add a few others an u might be right :)

  • props!!!!

  • Mos and Kweli are the greatest duo in hip hop. peace be upon these brothers.

  • word up

    thumbs up no 24!

  • @thlerryhenry i dunno doode gangstarr man. but black star is the shit.i love mos and kweli

  • respiration is a real good song i love that song itz 100% hip hop

  • i've been looking for this song for sooooo long love this f*u&ing song.

  • Hell yeah man. Respiration is one of my favorite songs of all time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • real banger this one... "wide angles" might be one of the most slept on albums of all time

  • i wanna get into mos def so what would be a good album of his to start to give a listen?

  • start off with Mos def Black on both sides and Blackstar albums

  • this song is great to smoke to. so relaxing

  • you are so right mate, beats like this just make you ponder, they're great to smoke to and the lyrics have depth! just wish these two still worked together!

  • man you want good beats, listen to j dilla. most legendary producer that ever lived, beautiful beats. r.i.p.

  • Its really up to Mos who he wants in his line-up.

i just hope this will go on though.

  • there is no realer

  • The Pharcyde!

    :D

  • heck ya The Pharcyde!!!

  • 2:52 onwards

    God DAMN

  • nobody realer than mos def

  • There's something I want to say, alternative hip hop is the best hip hop!

  • Its not alternative hip hop, thats a name the media uses to call this music. talk to anybody its "underground" hip hop.

  • But it is an alternative compared to the garbage that's out now. It's both.

  • Mos def, Talib kweli, Nas, Lupe and Eminem

  • oh yea that a good choice, but i would change eminem for Q-Tip and common

  • what about common and wu???(yeah i kno but to each their own right??????)

  • huh? dont get whatchya mean... i jus think Tip and common are better than eminem

  • How come nobody has mentioned De La soul or the Roots if there talkin about hip hop wit talent or even The Fugees!

  • Eminem is not conscious at all really. Though he is a VERY skilled lyricist but so is lil wayne.

  • lil wayne isnt much of a lyricist nor a rapper

hes jus not for sum reason

he used to be way back when hot boyz was around but not now and eminem is a great rapper but he jus doesnt make tracks that show u he is great instead he makes those weird ass ones

  • i dunno where this nigga kanopimpin is gettin his info, but mos def chose Black Thought, MF Doom, Jay Electronica and Nas...thats fuckin real. im excited

  • picking DOOM was a mistake, dude's style isn't built for it, shoulda just went with Kweli.

  • that was very foolish to say...

def loves doom cuz of how strange and mysterious, yet somehow cohesive and flowing his raps are. plus apparently he is a god of freestyling (i havent heard his, really tough to find)

  • yeah I'm well aware of Mos' fascination with DOOM, I like DOOM probably makes my top 40 favorite emcee's but I don't think he would be a good battler what so ever, at least not elite, honestly if he wanted to win he should have picked Royce Da 5'9 or eLZhi. Regardless it will never happen so its a little pointless of me to argue further

  • excuse me if i sound ignorant but is there some kind of battle going on between these classic mc's ?

  • ARE YOU KIDDING? DOOM is crazy. mos should insert talib for jay electronica.

  • u dont hafta b conscious to be a dope MC. rap is an artform and expression of self and eminem is very skilled and he just represents his views. so in that sense eminem is a true Mc and artist. u dont hafta b conscious to be a tru MC. just wanted to bring that by.

  • And common and Mf DOOM

  • damn thats tasty

  • mos def ,talib kweli, lupe fiasco,q-tip great rappers

  • thanks for mentioning Lupe.

  • common, the roots crew?!?!

  • yee =D Speak the truth init

  • safe, been lookin for this track..... its "da beatminerz" remix if anyone needed to know

    peazz

  • "We document the memorable/ and break em up like syllables/ stay down to earth like minerals". "We 5-dimensional... audio, visual, physical, spiritual, lyrical". Mos Def and Talib Kweli are both in the top 10 MCs of all time. They're way too brilliant to be ovalooked. It's cuz of artists like them that make Hip Hop more than just some music genre... artists like them represent true Hip Hop - the movement!

  • great,epic.

listen to it the whole day

  • However the lyric

"Got the whole owner blast-back policy" makes me rethink....if you consider the first verses

    Strive to maintain balance

Articulate the article, eliminate the farcical

These so-called criminals is fictional they make the party turn miserable

    We document the memorable

He might be Prince Hall but I think he is an Independent thinker, for now

  • Has Mos Def Sold out to the N.W.O.? Is "Another World" code for "A New World" Mos expressed his 9/11 theories on Bill Maher, I applaud him, but this verse makes me wonder: The sorta home this cornerstone is built on Way more than Benjamin (Franklin) Master mc carpentry Talib put, the Kweli in quality Put the groundation down properly You can't trespass the property Ain't takin' or breakin', robbery Got the whole owner blast-back policy Follow me, descendant of the grand master armoury
  • Nah, bro. This verse is referring to rap and hip hop, not anything outside of it.

  • great song

  • They compliment eachother's style and feed off one another. I just hope classic ish like this will grace again soon....

  • i agree wit jonezy they do make better music together

  • BEATADDICT12, i understand what your trying to say, u said it wrong tho... they r both still sick, they def sound better together though.

  • I like this version better

  • why does neither one of them make music like this anymore?

  • due i dont know what your talking about kweli keeps on putting out great albums and he still keeps it true to him self amd mos def is mazing just wait till his new cd comes out its gona be his best

  • mos def did cool out a bit, still a beast ...and you haven't heard eardrum from '07? you can't say it's not kweli's 2nd best album (IMO Train of Thought was his best, which came out 3 yrs after this track)

  • I just picked up The Beautiful Struggle, wut else do u reccomend by Kweli?

  • reflection eternal is my favourite by him its produced by hi-tek

  • the album black star by black star...pretty cool too

  • Yea ive been lookin for it, guess I'll have to cop it from Amazon

  • or you can download vuze...it finds every album

  • Comment removed

  • except medina green: funky fresh in the flesh and more vol.2. vuze cant helpwif dat. i got it on order......

  • Folk here in nz need a lesson first hand from this talented duo...I saw Nas in december and that was like listening to a straight real life skills coach

which is what the youth particularly in nz need... voices with the right essence to reach our troubled youth in all sectors of life...not a hand out...but a clear definition of hope and doom...Important Role Models like Mos&Kwe.

    Peace

  • yo bro im from nz and i feel what u got to say p.s i was at the welly show and nas killed it

  • Damn Str8! he blew 'Ye outta the water!!! Sorry Scribe...keep workin at it, and soon you will command the crowd like Nasir...transcend colour codes, ages etc...even Ladi6 got mad skillz!!

  • He came to my school to speake on man hood training.

  • NEW REFLECTION ETERNAL 2009 track watch?v=Rla0zZyWTjY

  • In regards to downloadin stuff I don't do it much. If artists put out quality ALBUMS instead of two singles with a bunch of other bullshit songs, then I actually go out and buy the album. Because if the artist only has one-hit type wonder songs on the album I'll most likely hear it on the radio.

  • Yo I agree with your thinking. I went last week and bought another copy of Mos Def's "Black On Both Sides" because my older brother lost my other 2 copies. What we need to do is empower every soul that has a consciousness to reality.

  • illegally download cause the music industry only cares about making money, not about quaility of music and artistic expression.. We need brothas like mos def and talib kweli on the front lines making real music for the real people

  • i agree! its like the commercial stuff just goes nowere just talkin bout "i get money" "flying a jet" good 4 them but its not touching the soul were you can learn somthing or relate or jus feel like rappers such as "Mos Def, Kweli" "common" and alot of others out there!

  • U speak out of my mind bro, i totally agree.

Its same with Gang Starr they have really good stuff as well

  • yeah yeah yeah they really are from another world

  • The "Spirtual World", that IS; My brothafromanuthamutha!!!!!!!

  • Wow there flow on this beat is so hot. u don't get it like this anymore. it died with atribecq and black star.

  • does anyone have blackstar (not just mos in the car)on Dave Chappelle? whats that tune?

  • it's called "what's beef"

  • yeah I got that song "whats beef" from their mixtape Three Definition it has the live performance from the chappelles show on it

  • this is so good!

  • just bought this cd off of amazon, pissed off cause its takin too long to deliver

  • where can i get this download??

  • no if you steal a handbag a PERSON loses all the stuff and money they have in there

if you steal a car a PERSON has no transportation

if you steal a phone a PERSON loses a tool of communication

if you download music a multi-million dollar a year COMPANY loses a couple of bucks

I hope this has left you in a frame of mind to question the probaganda your told by sheep like this

  • open my eyes? maybe you could sell me some reefer to help me there?

    Boom!

I was actually only taking the piss in the first place, incase it went over your head i was watching an illegally posted video while i posted that comment

  • ya sure how much you want!

    boom?

i wonder why u where marked as spam

  • all we need is another world, this wright now is hell on earth..better days will come...

  • Real hip hop right here

  • can i get the download? where is all this black star stuff coming from. they dont have a second album do they?

  • Anyone know who produced it and what sample was used?

  • hi-tek produced, dunno the sample tho....

  • daaamn! why is music like this so hard to come by??

  • All part of the plan bro.

  • yeahhh. havent heard that too long...

classic creators joint and two of the best MCs!

  • Talib and Mos Def is CLASSIC real hip hop, some serious shit right there. fuck whoever dis Talib (socked my friend in the jaw for sayin talib sucked)

  • Other hot Blackstar songs are: Brown Skin Lady, Astronomy, K.O.S. Determination for sure, Thieves in the Night, and Children's Story. Well, pretty much the whole BlackStar Album.

  • what other songs are hot by black star besides respiration and definition...tryin to update my itunes

  • The topic, we always gonna be black like markets

  • Daaaaaamn, this is fucking amazing.

  • LOL Umfufu From Eddie Murphy Raw.. Man Blackstar & The Roots Are Ma Best Groups

  • dj's saying, "damn i gotta get on the mic after you?"
