Isn't this somewhat promoting a stereotype of gay culture where older men seduce younger men? Or that gay culture is based on sexual activity, and anonymous activity at that? I mean, I think this is great for novelty purposes, but it honestly kind of irritates me when people are saying this is some sort of step forward in gay culture. This is simply the continuation and exploitation that zeroes in on the sexual aspects of homosexuality. We're people underneath the "gay love" shell, y'know.

Same thing happens with straight couples, I see over 60 year old fat gross men marrying hot super models that are not older than 20. So no this is not inherent to the gay community. The video however doesnt portray this in any way, the intention of the video is to make you feel uncomfortable so you can start questioning whats morally right or wrong.

But I do feel there was some other message (someone else brought it up in the comments) about over consumption as a perverse consequence of self-hate or self-limitation. I think that is on some symbolic level here. I don't think it was hating on fat people, and I think we can look at overconsumption/obesity/social rules and maybe learn a lot.

I think fat people can be sexy, etc., but I don't think there's an exact connection btw fat people & the LGBT comm. there's a lot of social anxiety at fat people, who come to symbolize larger issues: overindulgence, even sociopolitical issues I said above. Obesity means lots, good and bad, but to recognize ambivalence as promoting 'fat hate' is a little reactionary.

But I don't think this is a black and white "with us or against us" set of issues. @BEARfromTN Yeah, I think it was a little bit simplistic in terms of different body types, sexuality, and liberation. But I do feel there was some other message (someone else brought it up in the comments) about over consumption as a perverse consequence of self-hate or self-limitation. I think that is on some symbolic level here. I don't think it was hating on fat people, and I think we can look at overconsumption/obesity/social rules and maybe learn a lot.

@1978Autodidact I whole heartedly disagree. YOU are promoting 'fat hate' by assuming the negative symbolism which implies fat people are fat because they self-hate and other societal negatives. If someone was in here railing against the obviously expressed sexuality and gender identity topics then everyone would be aghast, so why does anyone still believe it is fine to perceive large people as negatives but not LGBTIQ people as negatives? I am projecting EQUALITY not selective discrimination.

@BEARfromTN There can be neg. connotations with what is objectively known to be unhealthy for a lot of people, i.e. obesity. I think fat people can be sexy, etc., but I don't think there's an exact connection btw fat people & the LGBT comm. there's a lot of social anxiety at fat people, who come to symbolize larger issues: overindulgence, even sociopolitical issues I said above. Obesity means lots, good and bad, but to recognize ambivalence as promoting 'fat hate' is a little reactionary.

@BEARfromTN Alright, let's have an adult discussion. I didn't come at you hostile. All I do is hang out with bears in SF, am very aware of fatphobia in our culture. But I don't think this is a black and white "with us or against us" set of issues. I think it's fine to be and express yourself as you are, but I also agree that obesity can come from a negative space (doesn't have to), and I have a lot of ambivalence about western overconsumption which is corelative with obesity rates.
