  • when we forgot headphones back in the dayz we listened to the needle lol

  • pan is short for pan ? lol

  • "Pee - aye - enn is short for PAN".

  • dude! please reply to this ok?. i have been working with fl studio for a about 6 months now and i would like to start using turn tables and mix beats and be a DJ not just a dj on fl studio. i might get turn tables soon after watching XD

  • Ive got a biiiig question. How can you beatmatch songs on an Akai APC40 ( APC stands for Ableton performance Controller). I got one last month and i was rrying to beat mix tracks with it and i cant find anything usefull on the Akai website nor in Abletons. Can any body help me with this, im still a noob at Djing......cheers

  • very nice on this one

  • pan is short for pan love it haha

  • how are u using ur headphones as a mic?

  • a little tiny speaker is what basicly what a mic is,using your headphones is a crude mic but neverless a mic it is,try it it will work, but you have to plug your headphones in the mic input

  • cool thanks!

  • put it into the mic input, since its a diaphragm to emit the sound. a mic uses a diaphragm aswell

  • Yep, PAN stand for Pan alright ;)

    Good vid mate.

  • im new to djing so i cant do a gr8 mix but try tiesto lord or trace an tiesto bass together it sound good even when mixed by a novas like me

  • nice to see people dedicatin their time to educatin peeps starting out as a DJ.. but i dont see the point in this exercise.. is this tutorial for people that can afford to spend £1000 on a DJ set up, amp and speakers but cant afford a pair of headphones...??

Also.. and i dont know if u covered this in another tutorial.. but if u were skilled enough.. you dont need to use any monitoring to mix two tunes together.. tho this may not neccesarily apply in a nightclub scenario..!

    :)

  • ...the point of this video is to help people FEEL the beat matching ... at the beginning I found it a little confusing identifying which beat belongs to what turntable/side... so when I set up the right turn table to the right headphone (or speaker... whatever) and the left to the left I found it easier to practice beat matching until I got comfortable to mix like pros do... Watch "It's all gone Pete Tong" movie, ... it has a similar concept, but for deaf dj-ing

  • So wats d point of knoin how to do this???

  • must say im lovin them headphones tht double as a mic

  • This is why I love spinning house...pretty easy, until you run into a Theo Parrish track.

  • good..

  • y you all shitheads going crazy bout him saying "p.a.n. is short for pan" and dont write what it actually means??

    PAN stands for Panorama, dumbasses!!

    grate vid actually :)

  • "P. A. N." is short for Pan"

    :S LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • yup :D:D i was like WTF?! :D:D:D

  • dj ellaskins is a man with lots of passions

  • to LaoBoiloSo

    Fuck you mother fucker!!!!!

  • is he using his headphones as a MIC? LOL now that's wicked man!!!! use your cans as MICS!!! :D

  • Basicly, dynimac mics are using the same method as speakers, only are they now connected 'in reverse'. :)

  • P-A-N.

    Short for pan.

    LOLOLOLOLOL

  • lolololol

  • lol LOL . P-A-N short for PAN XD~

  • Check out his 10min mix video, he pretty much throws everything he teaches in one mix. Its very good.

  • dont let the haters stop you ellaskins.good work.thanks for the help.

  • Wow, quick ridings on the faderings!

    Very nice. I'm jealousies!

    Thankings you John.

  • You're quite good teaching Dj's tricks, but I wonder how you find the perfect beatmatch in just two or three seconds!!!

  • hey johnathan those tracks were great I've got that future breeze 1 but I cant get hold of the other, no one knows it, can anybody help me out??

    -Josh-

  • he says in there it is dj jean - ready for the launch. i found it on limewire and htfr sells it if that is wat u meant by "cant get hold of it"

  • thanks for the info mate

  • WOT YOU MEAN DJ JEAN ? THE LARNCH ?

  • cheers m8

  • your awesome and thanks for your tips

  • for me its easier for techno. i cant get the hang of it with hiphop. theres is so little tutorials on hiphop and with there was more. i dunno why but it seems harder to me. mabe the words in them mess me up. i dont know.

  • i wanna no how u talk into the headfones thts sik lol

  • just plug into the headphone jack plug in the mixer and off you go! johnathan

  • plug em into the mic jack

  • @trekovsmc yeah me too he's taking on the headphones?

  • @trekovsmc only the left head phone when plugged in will work as a microphone.

  • These tips could cost big bucks in DJ school. Thanks for giving it to us for free. God bless you!

  • pan is short for pan

  • your good with that pitch control....

  • you're talking into the headphones...

  • a good quick way of getting a mic!

  • yea but people can still here at the beggining if the beat is a bit off when ur trying to match it up,,,wouldnt be very good for live use, maybe just for fun

  • Correct, you would not use this method at a gig!

  • okay okay I get this, but WHAT, if I want to mix Breakcore, or Oldskool Jungle??? because Breakcore doesn't have 4 kicks per bar on the same place in every song like in house music, and breakcore doesn't always has the standard 4/4 time signature! (sometimes it's 7/4 or 5/4) but I've still seen djs managing to beatmatch breakcore tracks still really tigth so it IS possible..

Would be very cool if U would do a tutorial about that!

    anyway, love ur vids bigups!

  • Ok, with the likes of breakcore and rnb , there is a lot going on, so it's a good idea to consentrate on the top kick/ high hat . johnathan dj tutor

  • Thats a handy dj trick when you have no microphone you can use the headphone as one you are truly a master DJ my friend!

  • Damn it you said the names!!

I was about to post saying the names of the songs because i could tell what they were just from the beat hahaha... a well, i will have other chances to look smart :p

    peace

  • IN THE SECOND MIX THE DECK DID JUMP!!!! oops sorry!!

  • You are amazing with those pitches. I find it easiest atleast at this point to match beats when they play on top of each other so you will easily hear the klopotiklops when it's off. On headphones having cue and master both playing on top of each other not left and right. Not sure have you mentioned but when bassdrum hits it starts with klick sound this sound is the one atleast I use in beatmatching and that's the sound that makes the klopotiklops when offbeat.
