I was walking behind him near the concessions and he bounces around like he's on the moon with every step he takes. He's never out of character. The Capstronaut rules!
What does space travel have to do with hockey? Nothing. But a lot of teams have weird mascots and/or traditions and thank god traditions are not always easily explained. If they were they would lose their magic.
What do octopi have to do with hockey? Nothing, yet Red Wings fans always toss them onto the ice during the playoffs. It's weird, wacky and awesome.
@oxymomo Yes, the Capstronaut is awesome. However, this season does have to do with space travel. We will journey to where no Caps team has gone before; The Stanley Cup Victory. Our Russian Comrades will help bring us there. Fortunately, we will not all need space suits, we can go to the game or watch it on TV. ;-)
Back when there were only six teams in the NHL, it took 8 playoff wins to get the Stanley Cup. That's why the octopus is thrown on the ice during playoffs.
I love the Capstronaut. This vid gets five stars. Great editing, slow motion, fades, camera work, etc. The fan who jumps up at 1:05 makes it very funny! All this with Rocket Man as a soundtrack make this vid a real tearjerker for a long time Caps fan such as myself. Thanks for this. This is our year.
It may be strange to some people, but I think a space suit is perfect to wear to a Caps game.
The guy is a Washington sports fan and has not had a winning team for so long he feels like he is in outer space because the Caps are so wonderful it makes his head spin.
It also has to do with the Cold War and Space Race with the Russians, who are our hero players now.
Friendship with Russia should be a priority of US foreign policy.
it reminds me of the smithsonian national air & space museum, which is in D.C. the capstronaut is also probably the result of an astronaut mating with a cosmonaut.
... Sigh. White people.

Why did you take the video of you "drunk" off of You Tube? You are a fad and it is time you float away from the VC.

@oxymomo the octopus tradition was created back in the day when it only took 8 wins to win the stanley cup playoffs.
8 wins = 8 tentacles of the octopus
