I know this song. It is a two part song called "I don't understand - Revelations" from the album Nickelodeon (1973) by the group Hudson-Ford that was formed when John Ford and Richard Hudson split from The Strawbs. I recognized the song when I heard the last part because that section - "Revelations" - is the B-side to the great single I have called "Floating in the wind". So the puzzle is solved and we can all just enjoy this great piece of music!!
Sounds like Phil Keaggy (maybe the cassette was playing back a little slow) but I've never heard this one before. It might be something from his early '70s group 'Glass Harp'...?
Check out his vocals here and see if you don't agree it sounds like him:
Sounds like the beatles!
