I'm guessing that since they knew it was the pilot episode, this wasn't going to go to air and they just really didn't try hard enough. Back in those days, the actual pilot episode was just a way of selling the show to the network and having them take a look at it and then they film the actual episode. These days, the pilot episodes are usually shown on TV, or they will always reshoot it with differences and have that version of the pilot shown.
