@WhiteTyson10 72mhz people would go out the wing, and let the rest trails, or out the very back, and let the end go behind the plane. NEVER cut an antenna shorter than it is. Personally I'm using 2.4 so you can put the rx basically anywhere
nice, this jet looks awesome! I just purchased it plus two E-flite 480 4000kv motors, with 2 e-flite 60a ESC's, and two 4 cell 2200mah 30C batteries! Can't wait to fly it!
@earthling1984 I've got another one at home not built yet, was thinking of doing the same thing. those 480's will work it great, and sound MUCH MUCH better LOL
@FR3DisGAY Habu is so much better in so many ways. You can get retracts for it now too, eflite electric ones. My habu videos are awesome, check out the video response.. btw love the username
The fans and ducts are crap, the motors that they suggest, are decent, but you could go with more power. Really it's the KV rating that you want to improve. I'm not sure what the eflite ducted fan engine they suggest have in them, but get something with more than that, that will run on 3 cells well, or you could even try a 4cell system. I haven't decided on mine yet, too much other stuff to do lol
I am looking seriously at Hoffman Magnetics fans and motor combos
I don't know about what other people want, but I like retracts, (I'm adding them to an E-flite P-38). I hate hand launching, and belly landings. Take-offs and landings are half the fun and requires an extra bit of skill. I have a few "belly landers" and wish manufactuers would add some sort of hard coating to the bottom. Also wish they would'nt make the panel lines so deep. Some of the foam looks like aligator skin. Should have a choice of color schemes on the E-flite F-15 & F-16.
I like both, like the belly landers and thrown planes for grass fields of course, and retracts especially on small ones are generally crap, but the new SU34 I'm flying the retracts work really well. Check that, it's the newest vid on the channel
E-flight is still has some pretty cheesy people working in there RD, if you took a poll of what people want in this size aircraft, #1 people don't want retracts in this size airframe, with 70mm fans being the standard, and producing the same thrust for less power I can't understand what E-flight is doing designing these aircraft , #2 is not many people want the Edwards chase paint, with this size aircraft orientation is bad enough to paint it white orange and black =( great flying though
Thanks for the comment. The gear while it would be nice to have them, are about the same quality as the fans, really shitty. The scheme could definately be better. I've sold that model, and got an unreal deal on an airframe, and will be painting it tiger scheme, and putting good fans and motors, 2- 4cells and no gear.
oh if you want to see a nice flying edf on twins, I just posted a Su34 with thrust vectoring, Freewing I think is the company, distributed by Hobby Lobby to me anyways, and all in true HD. Thrust vectoring testing to happen next flight
nah, not underpowered. For a twin setup it could have more power but the problem is the fan units, they are horrible, unbalanced, crap. If this jet is underpowered so are most EDF's. Has lots of power, and flies well, but I'm puttin together another one, and going to use better fans, high kv motors and no gear to lighten it up. Wouldn't be building a second one if I thought the plane was crap.
I actually got the soundtrack back on this video, and may be able to do it on others. If you dispute the claim and say it is used in conjuction with this "fair use" copyright policy, they may give them back to you. Search for a video about it on youtube, seems to work
Thanks, love the retracts, getting more RC planes with retracts for sure
Flight times are 6-8 minutes, but I'm really disappointed with the fans that it comes with. They seem not balanced very well, and ugly loud. Even the horizon hobby demo reel I've seen of it, sounds the same. nice flying characteristics though, especially slow. More a E-flite bad thing though, is that they don't sell the ball link for the elevator as a part at all. I broke one, and they said, I should look through other size links from cars and stuff, cuz they didn't sell the part at all
Were you using the retracts too? That's a really small battery, you must have had to put weight in the front to get it to balance right? and 4-5 minutes must have drained those suckers dry
you can buy it online, or local hobby shops, that sell RC aircraft, but requires a bit of setup, and no doesn't include a radio. Get something like a cub trainer before one of these
Hey man awsome video , ur one of if not the best e-flite f-15 flyer on here. im building one of these myself , i was just wondering in the info for the vid u said u used 40 amp esc's , but in the begining of the vid it states 36s , im just tryin to track down the best motor , esc and battery combo ,also need the 8 servos , did u just use the recomended e-flite ones ? thx for any help u can offer. thx man
Thanks a lot man, I actually used two 36amp thunderbird esc's but they suggest 40amp e-flite ones. I don't think the 4 amps will make a difference, but never hurts to go with a bigger esc. The motors they suggest are ok, but heard complaints it should be faster. There are some higher kv motors that will power this a bit better, but haven't researched it out myself. I like the slow stuff, harrier and high alpha, than the flat out speed with this plane. I'll send you an email with more info
Wings should be fine, just make sure you use good epoxy, 30 minute if you can. With that, the bond should be stronger than the foam itself. The forces on it are not huge, and it doesn't have super speed or anything so shouldn't be a problem. Again, make sure you get some video and post it! Thanks for watchign and the rating!
I'm assembling. All recommended equipment ecxept I'm using dual 40A ESCs. Couldn't stuff the wider ESCs down the center chute, so I made 8" motor wire extensions.
I fly at a grass field, and have lotsa experience with flying wings. So I figure I'll go without gear at all. E-Flite says it can be done.
What's your opinion- can it be hand launched? And might the stabilators rip off on a belly landing?
Hey MTEXX2, The hand launch should be possible, I'd have someone else throw it, that has thrown ducted fans Before! Don't give it to someone who throws like a girl lol YOu want a javelin type of throw, around 20 degress up, well you know. Definitely if you don't let off the elevator before you touch down, you may rip those flying elevators off. You could try adding some light foam to the ass, as a bumper to stop it from botoming out so much. Let me know how it works, or even better video!
anybody know which air planes good for me i've never expierenced rc air plane flying before and i'm looking for a jet thanks and remeber i'm a begginer i'm willing to spend around 150-190 thanks
Best thing to get is a simulator, but if you want to fly, get a trainer first like a supercub from hobbyzone, but if you absolutely have to have a jet, and think you can handle it, get a stryker, they can fly slow, or fast, and are pretty tough for abuse. thanks for watching
is this airplane easy to fly cuz i'm new to rc airplanes i've never expierence them before i heard there harder than rc cars so i was just wondering if this airplane good for start outs and beginners
thanks reply as soon as possible btw is that thing hard to build
This is not a plane for a beginner at all. It flies well, but can stall it, or go to fast even very easily. It takes a bit to build for a beginner to rc as well. try soemthing like a supercub or stryker
Hey there i have the same jet and it fly ok. I want it to go faster than it does now... Any suggestions? Im running the same except im using 2 45amps esc...
Those motors are running pretty quick as it is, proabably need to drop some weight or use different pitch blades on the fan units. I suppose we could go to crazy 4000kv motors but damn spensive and worry about the duct and fan unit, whether they could take it. Mine rub an awful lot, little dissapointed in that, should be perfect to get good efficiency. Let me know if you do anything to yours! Thanks for watching!
