I don't wish to be unkind but: Fail. And you are quite wrong about 3D "requiring" 2 cameras. Most 3D movies now are shot in 2D and 3D is applied in post via cheap labor, manually with some software that does depth queuing. Your separation is way way way off the mark, only set for your size screen and distance rather than an average. The separation also needs to vary. You could have at least masked the stars and done them as a different layer to give some depth. Keep trying, you'll get it right.
theres no depth in this video, people dont understand that for effective 3d effects, you need 2 cameras spaced apart from each other. pretty much the only way to convert 2d to 3d is if the original 2d video has a regulated panning movement then you can use the same video with an offset and one frame is ahead of the other
@TimeLord75 i like to say yes granted i tried to sort the depth out buy making 1 video pulled forward slightly but as you said without having the 2 cameras its difficult but you must admit for a 2d to 3d it aint that bad
I'd say this is the 2D version with its colours split, as others are saying, but it certainly plays well as an anaglyph, through red/cyan glasses. It works pretty well really and I have seen far worse. Even sloppy 2D colour split rip-offs can be pleasing to the eye through red/cyan glasses. I'm twitching with excitement at the thought of just how effing cool this will look in RealD 3D on a cinema screen! I wanted to see Alice in Wonderland anyway, but now...crikey, I might break into the cinema!
this is being played in front of the new alice in wonderland movie....IN 3D!!!!!!. but hey does anyone know if thats going to get played in america or not. since its delayed here 2 weeks after it premiers in the UK, i thought maybe it would get played on a different 3D movie in a few weeks. but i dont know.
I think it's converted with 3dfier whereas the BBC paid good money to have it converted professionally but I heard it'll only be shown in cinemas unless the BBC post it on youtube.
well this is the 2d version of the 3d which was made for the cinema i got this from the tv advert, im currently working on another one to add more depth to make it more realistic
Was the cinema one shot in 3d or faked itself? I'm more familiar with the "crosseyed" technique. I have a camera lens that shoots in that effect. One thing with the side-by-side aspect is that it may eliminate the problem with color-blindness.
Oh and I meant 'faked' in the sense that you were not working with the 3d footage. You were recreating the 3d footage. (Unless I'm confused. *chuckles*)
I wasn't aware that color-blindness affected anaglyph 3D. The person's disability wouldn't prevent the light from being blocked by the colored lenses. Where's the problem?
I'm not trying to be snippy. I'm curious as a filmmaker attempting to break into 3D.
I may be making a huge presumption. But, if they can't see red or green, the tinting effect of the "glasses" may be lost on them. From a comment Combom had made, I was thinking he might be colorblind. A lot of mind tricks depend on the users ability to see the trick.
But the red/blue light is already filtered out and separated by the time the image reaches the viewer's eyes.
Each eye (more or less) receives a simple tinted image, either red or blue. Why would the eyes need to distinguish between the colors at that point?
Likewise, there is a version of anaglyph that uses red/green. It seems to me like that might even make for a more pleasant viewing experience for red/green colorblind people who won't be able to tell the difference between the two lenses.
well i can't control the layout for the 3D viewing as its an already added extra if u like below the video
that is only created because i added the yt3d:enable=true a guy has spent plenty of time creat this add on so practically what you see is what you get.
Fake 3D u.u

Obviously it's faked, since the original wasn't shot in 3D. But, it's an evolution made with the video at hand. It's an interesting start to me.
