Probably because he did steeplechasing before and those jump are 4 foot 6 inches high. the biggest he did this day was 3 feet 6 inches. And to some Americans (not me) thats huge!!
A few reasons. 1.) My job, galloping racehorses at the track, We lean forward as they gallop. My body has gotten used to doing this.I am working to get my shoulders back.
2.) I see you're from the UK, there are some big differences in how American riders are taught to ride to jumps, and one of those ways is to be in whats called a "Half Seat". This is what I am doing. But as I am familiar with the BHS teachings I know that this isn't taught in Europe as much.
