It is impossible to separate the "boring" philosophy from what you admit you see as good music. Even if one does not agree with the philosophy, musicians like John McLaughlin and Robert Fripp create their music through their philosophies. So seeing that music as positive means you must lend at least a little respect to the individual's peronal philosophies. And Fripp's POV is way too open to be a religion!Besides, most Crimson fans would be unlikely to watch video from A NSA video.
I was on the edge of my seat throughout all these videos. The words spoken were prolific and modest, comforting and passionate, assertive and subtle, similar to how all guitar playing should be in my opinion.
Mr. Fripp's answer to the last question posed by his sister simply blew my head off. Both what he said and the way he did it. Music has an independent life from its creator/perfomer and it's a sad fact that most often that creator/perfomer in a way does not stand up to the beauty of his music. Mr. Fripp is an exception. His personality matches perfectly the exceptionality of his music. I can only wish him a wider Exposure (sic!)
By the way he articulates himself, you can clearly hear that there is some serious brain-activity going on, and by his guitar you can hear it at play.
Robert Fripp is indeed the Mad Scientist of Guitar.

That beckon to the infinitely benevolent (and equally elusive :) ) creative impulse, that was... WOW.

It's far from "arrogance." It might "sound" like it to you, though.
