You mention using Ctrl as a shortcut key to access the edit function of line shapes but my ctrl button only allows me to move the entire line around as if selected by magic wond selection tool, plus mine apears to have less tools IE like ersior and the likes, i have all the basic ones but dont have things like the the line tool (if i hold shift and click it puts a line in but its not the tool itself)
@TalleoFox never mind i appear to have found them, it seems the lair didnt work right and instead of creating a linework lire it instead made the normal one XD
@FreedWulf what resolution you working at? XXXX x XXXX @ dpi - I typically work 3200 x 1800 @ 300dpi. That's just to double the normal 16:9 ratio of a widescreen. You should be around 3000-4000 width and shrink it down to the dimensions you want after you're done with the drawing. If you're working at a low resolution or actual screen resolution, zooming in drops the quality dramatically.
This might be a stupid simple question but... I'm having trouble getting the 'line' and 'curve' to let go. I use it but then when I want to use it on a different part it just follows me. I have to click on something else to get out of it and the go back to it to continue. Can you tell me how you do it please? If I right click it takes away the last point but still follows me. Thanks!
@sillyguy93 actually, it was one of my first ever videos on youtube and didn't understand fully how video/audio worked when capturing - so I had recorded in real-time the audio with the video...and when I sped it up. Well, there you go - instant free voice FX. :P
YOu really should try to practice inking freehand instead of using that line tool, your art will look more lively so to speak, those line tool lines look dead to me.
@mitrooper yeah, this was made just a few weeks into using SAI, so I was still getting used to it myself but wanted to help folks and toss everyone the stuff I'd picked up. I'm still using the same style, but a bit more refined now...if you check my dA account and look at my recent works, let me know if you feel the same way. :D Appreciate the feedback xD
I should probably redo this tut at some point in a higher res/better drawing. Heh
@Ultimatefanofmid look at the video playing, on the right side where the button is to go full-screen. You'll see the button for resolution to the left of that...then the annotations button. :) Hope that helps.
@mechagodzilla3 lotsa practice. (I know - lamest response, but unfortunately that's the truth) Just take some blank docs and sketch away at some circles. One of the keys I'd go with tho is starting small so your not doing large sweeping motions so you don't get jaggy lines...keep it tight. Hope that helps :)
@mechagodzilla3 oh, I most certainly do. I'm using an Wacom Intous 3. (I thought I'd mentioned it in the vid. Heh) Circles with a mouse = almost impossible. However...with the linework layers in SAI - you can make the curves you want just as easy with a mouse or tablet.
@queenmononoke ctrl-A (to select all on the active layer, you'd be in your linework layer)...then with the weight tool selected and the weight you wish to make all the lines and click on the lines. Since all are selected - it'll change them all.
@mikufan1212 when doing the initial sketch? I'm using a Wacom Intuos tablet - its pressure sensitive, I'm not putting much pressure at all on the tablet. Plus zoomed out - a 30px brush on a 3200x1800px isn't actually very big at all. ;)
Can you make your video a high quality please? I have eye problem and I can't make out the image clearer. :(

How are your lines so clean? mine always come out faded looking. I can see your lines but mine seem all pixeled.

I prefer voice-over tutorials because that's just the way I learn. I do better with having things repeated than reading them over and over.
