lifegiver36- RE: "There is NO ONE against finding renewable energy."
There is. His name is John McCain. HE RECENTLY DID NOT VOTE FOR A BILL THAT WOULD HAVE STIMULATED THE PRODUCTION OF SOLAR AND WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS WHILE ENCOURAGING THE PRODUCTION OF HYBRID AND PLUG-IN ELECTRIC VEHICLES. In fact, Senator McCain has a perfect record on this renewable energy legislation. He has missed all eight votes over the last year — which effectively counts as a no vote each time. (Look up bill S-3335.)
Refusing to vote on legislation needed to address our energy crisis not only harms our national security interest by extending the duration of US dependency on foreign countries. But, it also risks marginalizing the US in terms of which countries will be the leaders in the alternative energies that replace oil dependency. After 26 years of conservatives, like McCain, repeatedly blocking wind budgets and tax credits, the US is now a bit player in the $36 billion global market.
Despite McCain's refusal to vote for renewable energy, he's running TV ads during the Olympics, showing a wind farm full of spinning turbines, the exact same energy he WOULD NOT vote in support of EIGHT TIMES over the past year. McCain presumes Americans are SO stupid that if he just shows them wind turbines in an Olympics ad they'll actually think he showed up and voted for such renewable power — when he didn't.
Why is John Edward's political career over? Senile Senator McBush cheated on his first wife, to bang an heiress. And then, turned around and cheated on Cindy McCain. McCain...a real bag of sh1t. He broke down like a little girl, and made 32 anti-American propaganda videos for the communists, not just one or two. Stole during the savings and loan scandal.

Hey dan 7509 the oil companies don't get federal funding, big tax breaks. Yet they make HUGE profits. No wonder they are in no hurry to find alternative sources of energy. It is time they operated in a true capitalist society and took their chances with all the entrepreneurs. Let's open up the new age of energy to all companies and reward those who produce clean and plentiful energy the quickest. The losers cry in their beer. That is capitalism and it does not exist in America, except in words.
This time the Refoolagains and their boy McSame won't succeed. We're ready for their lies and the American people aren't going to let them ruin our country any more! Our economy, our international standing, our military are all in ruins because these guys just want to make a profit and have us pay for it. It stops here!
This is a bad idea. I support Barack Obama, but that ad, although not as childish or stupid as McCain's ads, basically comes down to the same thing : It's a personal attack, pointless dirty fighting. Saying "he should start saying positive things about himself rather than just negative things about me" was sufficient. He should ignore any further below-the-belt attacks and move on to more important matters.
i dont think a president can save the economy with one action such as offshore oil drilling. BUt presidents can give insentives to businesses to go in a certain direction. The outcome is not how much money is added or subtracted to our pockets but what type of products are available to us. So the question of how to solve the economic crisis should be an ethical one. how we got in this in the first place i think is more complicated than most of us can fathom and spun by the media
If the Obama people don't come up with concise advertisements to counter McCain's propaganda he may lose the election. The media is buying McCain's message also. Instead of calling his trip to Europe the success that it was, he was criticized..then these ads started. Obama needs to step up his attacks on McCain, a few proper comments about McCain will quickly put this fire out, instead Obama is using garden hose by taking the high road & McCain's ads are sadly making an impact.
What boggles my mind is how the polls are showing the race to be so close. I mean, come on, I understand most people were dumb enough to be scared into voting for Bush the last time, but what is the reasoning to support McCain? He is flip flopping on pretty much every position he has taken, and now he can't even come up with a decent campaign ad that touts his own personal ideas for the country. Obama should have a double digit lead, not a few points!
"I'm Barack Obama and I'm going to stop the 100 richest people from owning half of the world's wealth.I'm going to prevent the few CEOs of corporations from abusing capitalism and making billions at the cost of millions of Americans.I'm going to raise taxes to give health care to the 50 million Americans who are left on the streets to rot when they get sick,to balance the budget and restore the strength of the dollar,to pay for a war that should have never been waged.
Warren Buffett is on record saying that the Bush tax cuts hurt the economy. What's good enough for Warren is good enough for this capitalist.
There's going to have to be some give and take to get things going right, and I don't see John McCain doing that, and Obama has a proven bipartisan record.
I'm not a democrat(I'm not that stupid), but Obama to me is an american- and he's getting my vote and support because of it.
Why the censorship? Thousands of Democrats post freely in McCain vlogs, yet you censor yours. That fact alone says a lot about Sen. Obama and Sen. McCain.
John McCain has in two days tried to compare Obama to Britney, Paris and now Moses. He was right when he said McCain was going to try and tarnish his public image. How many presidents on dollar bills can you attempt to compare to those 3?
OK obama i really support you, but this ad is kind of hypocritical. you have the black and white backround , creepy music as you talk about John McCain and his negative ads on you, in order to insight instinctual negative feelings, the kind of ads i disagree with in the first place . This isnt an ad solely on facts its trying to manipulate people to.
so then look up their context, its accurate as well is the fact that McCain takes millions from Big Oil and his campaign is chock full of their lobbyists. Thats not good for our energy policy, they r the same people who have handed our economy over to the Saudis and indebted us into China $3 trillion. Allowing for consumers 2b ripped off as prices inflate unchecked for nearly 8 years, handed 2 speculators. Lets not even talk about what they've done 2 housing & lending. Energy policy, no contest
Forget it guys Obama is too qualified to be president. He is fit and apparantly that's isnsulting to blue collar Americans, he is too popular which makes him a 'celeb', and he is presumptious and nobody who runs to lead the free world is ever supposed to be. That's why McCain tells us he will win the war because he knows how to win wars (though for some reason never thought it neccesary to use this skill in his prior wars) and he will magically balance the budget by increasing the deficit.
So the McCain attacks are okay, but Obama saying Republicans are going to scare Americans by saying he "doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills" is okay? That's also very wrong. BOTH sides are playing dirty, and it's making me sick. Also, I'm curious as to whether or not the Obama campaign posts this comment. I'm sure Barack Obama would want all sides heard, but I'm waiting to see whether the campaign officials also want that.
I'm Belgian, and I, along with every other European, think you are right. In America, politicians go campaigning by discrediting the other person(s) that compete. Personal attacks. In Europe, the campaigns arent about persons, it's about politics.
McCain did actually make a very condescending ad where he superimposed Obama's face on the $100 bill, the Statue of Liberty, etc. (Search under "John McCain mocks Barack Obama for his presidential seal")
So, McCain already went there and now is whining about the backlash. Race is a part of this election, and regardless of whether either candidate is right or wrong in their attacks, it isn't going to go away.
I've have never seen Obama accuse McCain of being unpatriotic, or of committing treason (willing to lose a war to win an election). I've never seen an ad from Obama comparing McCain to an air-headed, pop-culture twit either. McCain and his campaign have done all of these things. Obama has stated numerous times that he doesn't question's McCain sincerity in his desire to protect and lead this country. He simple states that he doesn't agree with McCain's approach in solving our problems.
So the McCain attacks are the low road, but accusing Republicans of trying to scare Americans by saying that "he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills" before they've said anything even close to that is okay? Bull shit. Both sides are playing dirty and it's making me sick.
I agree the remark was wrong, but I don't believe comparing one remark to several negative ads that lie about Obama's stand can be considered along the same lines. (McCain's ads have stating incorrectly that Obama will tax water, electricity, that he's responsible for today's high gas prices, etc)
Nor have we seen the personal attacks that have been waged on Obama, against McCain. There is plenty from McCain's past to use against him, but Obama doesn't.
Obama's response wasn't just to the McCain campaign, but to the RNC, the wingnut 527s and other groups that have been on the attack for the last 8 months. You honestly haven't seen the attacks regarding his race and his religion? Have you been under a rock? Where do you think the New Yorker cover was coming from?
No whats making you sick is the that the democrats DON"T NEED to play dirty because in the last eight yearsthe Republicans have litterally given America no other choice but to embrace change. You can say whatever you want but frankly Obama doesn't need to resort to taking "the low road" in his campaign. Honestly I think he could win without campaigning
Of course he is taking the LOW ROAD, after all the people in his camp are ALL BUSH MEN! Add the many many oil lobbyists (LET'S give them even more land to drill on) and you have the typical corporate Republican. The Republican party has become corporate owned & we are the pawns. Just look at today's story on the wealthiest retailer on earth Wal-mart, who is telling it's employees to vote for Republicans. Gee, I wonder why! Republicans are for the rich, corporations & oil men PERIOD!
My dictionary defines bankrupt as "reduced to a state of financial ruin". This nation is now in debt by $9.5 TRILLIONS. How much more bankrupt can we get?
Try wondering about the mirror image of your logical conclusion: if the entire nation is reduced to poverty by the few accumulating all of the wealth, who can afford to pay for the products of ANY business?
The oil companies have 68 million acres of land in the US they can drill on today - they just decided not to. Presumably the companies decided to lease the land because they believed there was oil.
Drilling today might mean a little more gasoline in ten years. Drilling does not solve the basic problem - demand for energy is growing and the oil supply is shrinking. More holes in the ground will not change that.
That's probly because there is no oil there & no one knows for sure if the oil supply is truly shrinking that fast as there are huge supplies of oil we havent even begun to tap (aside from the fact oil companies said they could product oil in some areas like off the continental shelf in ONE year)
Hey again, mike ^_^. Just wanted to note that even if the oil companies were to produce new oil in one year or even instantly, it would take an estimated 10 years for it to make a change on oil and gasoline prices. (Global market, etc.) And estimates state that even then it would only effect the price of gasoline at the pump by cents per gallon. Even the experts in the Bush administration admits that more drilling won't cause short or long term relief. It is just not a plausible option.
Amazing that the Hilton family gave $4600 to the McCain campaign just so they could turn around an use their daughter as a scapegoat to make his ridiculous point. So if there's any doubt who will take a dump on you if they're elected it'll definitely be your boy McCain right out of the gate.
This commercial addresses correctly the manipulations of the McCain campaign that seeks to once again manipulate the American people by distorting the facts.
Let be realistic guys. Republicans and McCain going to hit Obama with false ads, and that all they got. I strongly think that, it is time for democrats and the Obama campaign to hit and hit back.
McCain is a disgrace and for someone who is hailed as a "war hero" very unpatriotic. He stands for nothing, he bows to his corporate and party masters and quite honestly is not all that bright. This will all be made very clear when this "candidate" has the misfortune of standing next to Obama in a debate and is finally exposed for what he is an intellectually overmatched, unoriginal frustrated, cranky hothead...I can't wait. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH
Yeah, love this. McCain you going down, no more white presidents in the house, same shit, same bullshit, same assholes... America needs a change in history, in the house, & NOW! Bill O Reilly if you listening your next too, time for a change.
*yawn*. Obama will "take on big oil companies". Haha yeah. A guy who has yet to accomplish ANYTHING in the senate is going to take on big oil AND run the country?
But hey- the simple minded who like big words and a "soothing voice" will follow Obama. Anyone who follows someone who has yet to demonstrate he can do anything that he says he can do is a simple follower.
yeh hyrdogen fuel cell cars are pure bullshit electric cars are the way foward only reason we dont have them is because oil companies dont want loose money so they come up with idea of hydrogen fuel cell cars whihc of course means they will still supplie the fuel so they still have power and hydrogen is expensive o btw why do mccain and obama get same person do voiceover there ads hilarious
Your an idiot if you believe McCain is the answer, this nasty old self proclaiming hero should be in home. He is another GW, a "born again" republican nazi who can't wait to wage war on Iran or whatevet this empire wants to rape and pillage. There was some hope with Ron Paul as he was exposing much to the stupid 80%er's but this corporatestocrisy will not allow any free as the corporations and olagarchy control USA, lost to the rich and powerful. The murder USA dispenses will come back to her!
I got a link to a McCain ad, and while there I noticed all the negative attack ads that John McCain has posted. I lost all respect for John McCain after seeing how low he will go to get elected. This from a man who said he would never question a rivals patriotism. This after his wife Cindy said, "My husband is absolutely opposed to any negative campaigning at all." I guess she doesn't know her husband as well as she thought she did. OBAMA 08!
Sen. Barack Obama makes me proud to be an american even more.
I just have to say this...anyone that can actually vote for mcsame over Sen. Obama has to be out of their mind seriously as the choice can't be more clear...OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT.
The negative ads won't fool us this time republicians!
McCain is a nasty mean old man who loves war and is certainly no war hero as he loves to preach to us all. His surge is a lie (media controlled)and his attacks on Obama are without base. I am weary of "born again" republicans and I think most people are wise to their nazi tactics of fear and controlled media propaganda. McCain will continue to rage on how Obama will raise taxes and how we will not be safe with Obama as a President. McCain would love to see Israel attack Iran..duck and cover!
How is responding to baseless and childish attack ads from a man who has nothing good to say about his own campaign an attack ad? If I say something slanderous about you that is one thing. It's another thing altogether when you stand up and defend yourself.
McCain looks like a snake and is about as trustworthy as one too. His accusations and attacks on Obama are pure nazi republican born again crap. The nasty old man belongs in a nursing home strapped to a velcro chair with alarms that go off when the stupid old man tries to speak. He is no hero and his surge is lies...I am weary of hearing the same old republican crap..dems will raise taxes and your security will be at risk. Repub thing is the only thing to fear is not enough fear. Party of shame!
Experience is one thing. Being so senile (or so much of a flipflopper) that you can't even remember what your policies are on most subjects is different.
Actually, Obama's tax plan provides LOWER taxes for low and middle class americans than McCain's does.
The big difference is that under McCain the richest 10% would enjoy massive tax breaks wherease with Obama the bush tax breaks would be reversed.
Obama visited that wounded soldier's hospital many times. He just refused to politicise it.
i don't feel he is attacking McCain, when someone attacks you, you have the right to speak up for yourself. If anything, he's calling McCain out on his strategy. McCain can't justify attacking someone, it's not how it works.
Imagine McCain stopping the mud slinging and whining and making good on his promise to address the issues... he might even stand a chance. Of course, there is no hope of that. Republican, sorry old habits die hard. You need a young person to change a party.
please allow comments to be posted without approval. Obama is leading the polls with higher educated voters, if you take off the approval system it might allow for some intelligent debates.

Our current "experienced" administration got us into this war.
Obama's leadership will get us out.
McCain doesn't bring any new ideas to the table. Just old man strategy that will only put off the real issues from being addressed.
All his oil platform speech was missing was a "Mission Accomplished" banner.
I find it really disappointing that someone with his "experience" continues to use the old Karl Rove playbook.

Obama was an exciting fad, but is fast-becoming the Pet Rock of this political generation.
McCain needs to do a nationwide ad showing the hula hoop, the pet rock and other fads, then fade to a clip of Obama's followers...
Obama is all form, no substance... all characteristics, no character...
When one listens to to Obama's flowery speech, it is difficult not to ask: "Where's the beef?"
He's the "Chia Pet" of 2008. Of course, that might sound too racist.

Two things
1. The oil companies are owned by the stock holders which for the most part are mutal funds where at least part of most people's 401Ks are invested.
2. The oil companies are just going to pass those taxes down to you and I and Gas will be $5 a gallon.

So the question of how to solve the economic crisis should be an ethical one. how we got in this in the first place i think is more complicated than most of us can fathom and spun by the media
typeinbolivianbug 3 years ago
If the Obama people don't come up with concise advertisements to counter McCain's propaganda he may lose the election. The media is buying McCain's message also. Instead of calling his trip to Europe the success that it was, he was criticized..then these ads started. Obama needs to step up his attacks on McCain, a few proper comments about McCain will quickly put this fire out, instead Obama is using garden hose by taking the high road & McCain's ads are sadly making an impact.
scarletohara2008 3 years ago
What boggles my mind is how the polls are showing the race to be so close. I mean, come on, I understand most people were dumb enough to be scared into voting for Bush the last time, but what is the reasoning to support McCain? He is flip flopping on pretty much every position he has taken, and now he can't even come up with a decent campaign ad that touts his own personal ideas for the country. Obama should have a double digit lead, not a few points!

Warren Buffett is on record saying that the Bush tax cuts hurt the economy. What's good enough for Warren is good enough for this capitalist.
There's going to have to be some give and take to get things going right, and I don't see John McCain doing that, and Obama has a proven bipartisan record.

In Europe, the campaigns arent about persons, it's about politics.
carapils001 3 years ago
McCain did actually make a very condescending ad where he superimposed Obama's face on the $100 bill, the Statue of Liberty, etc. (Search under "John McCain mocks Barack Obama for his presidential seal")
So, McCain already went there and now is whining about the backlash. Race is a part of this election, and regardless of whether either candidate is right or wrong in their attacks, it isn't going to go away.
DrTetra 3 years ago

Ratzaroony 3 years ago
I agree the remark was wrong, but I don't believe comparing one remark to several negative ads that lie about Obama's stand can be considered along the same lines. (McCain's ads have stating incorrectly that Obama will tax water, electricity, that he's responsible for today's high gas prices, etc)
Nor have we seen the personal attacks that have been waged on Obama, against McCain. There is plenty from McCain's past to use against him, but Obama doesn't.
bluestems 3 years ago
Obama's response wasn't just to the McCain campaign, but to the RNC, the wingnut 527s and other groups that have been on the attack for the last 8 months. You honestly haven't seen the attacks regarding his race and his religion? Have you been under a rock? Where do you think the New Yorker cover was coming from?
acacioppo 3 years ago
No whats making you sick is the that the democrats DON"T NEED to play dirty because in the last eight yearsthe Republicans have litterally given America no other choice but to embrace change. You can say whatever you want but frankly Obama doesn't need to resort to taking "the low road" in his campaign. Honestly I think he could win without campaigning

Of course he is taking the LOW ROAD, after all the people in his camp are ALL BUSH MEN!

DaveH001 3 years ago
They didnt drill because there is a BAN on off shore drilling in the USA.
Go Obama !
nandogm 3 years ago 37
That's probly because there is no oil there & no one knows for sure if the oil supply is truly shrinking that fast as there are huge supplies of oil we havent even begun to tap (aside from the fact oil companies said they could product oil in some areas like off the continental shelf in ONE year)
mike14800 3 years ago
Hey again, mike ^_^. Just wanted to note that even if the oil companies were to produce new oil in one year or even instantly, it would take an estimated 10 years for it to make a change on oil and gasoline prices. (Global market, etc.) And estimates state that even then it would only effect the price of gasoline at the pump by cents per gallon. Even the experts in the Bush administration admits that more drilling won't cause short or long term relief. It is just not a plausible option.
KingHotChocolate 3 years ago
Well the prevision on the impact of off shore drilling when production will attain it's peak the impact on oil price will be insignificant.
