  • 28k memory thats just pure massive!

  • Check out my rendition of Aerial Assault & Buggy Run!

  • When target and toys r us were bad ass

  • I had a friend that had one of these. But I always played my NES more.

  • Wooow! Prices have changed a lot! That's bigger budgets and higher taxes for ya!

  • @semplew

Taxes are lower now then they were then.

  • lol... transbots.

  • wow this is an awsome old ad to have master system is still awsome

  • 64 colors! Man, I'm impressed.

  • 28k of memory! wow! who back then even cared about "K" - it was about BITS!!!

  • @kmf2123 The "K" was all about how much of the 8-bit goodness you can have.

  • lol, where you live, in slovakia, this 240p video qualifies as "HD".

  • I never did understand how they expected kids to understand what 28k actually meant lol and 64 colours i mean i never gave a crap about that kinda stuff when i was a kid just the games.

  • Sorry mr giraffe, but i think even back then, that was NOT super sharp picture!

I actually owned a Master System briefly a couple years ago, but i didnt hold on long before i sold it--that or i returned it because it conked out on me, im not sure.

  • what memories. not just the master system, but these old toys r us promos.

  • I'm a God warrior!!!!

  • I went to Toys R' Us today and they were out of stock:(

  • @ArcadeGames

Did they at least put you on a waiting list?

  • man with the same money u use to buy this u can purchase a controller for the xbox

  • @MeisterBC I bought my xbox for that price at the boxing day

  • Transbot - Good game with beautiful graphics that still look pretty today.

  • @PierreDeMinuit ur dumb

  • While yes, the hype over the Master Systems specs IS laughable today, just remember...20 years from NOW, we will have gaming consoles faaaaar more powerful than XBox 360 and PS3 ;)

  • @alifeson85 YOUR DUMB, 20 YEARS FROM NOW WE'LL ALL BE DEAD! 2012 is the end!

  • @PierreDeMinuit

What the point is there in nasa space missions if nasa knew the world would end in 2012 there is no evidence considering you would see something from the eye in the sky if something was going to strike anytime soon.

  • @PierreDeMinuit Uh, yeah... ...You should probably remember that the 2012 thing is just a load of religious, supetstitious B.s, no matter how much you try to dress it up in science.

  • @alifeson85 I know, but back in 1987, we were looking at this and the NES in amazement, these were cuting edge back then.

  • @nufcdazzla My Dad said the exact same thing in the 80s with the Commodore 64 I had. I remember thinking if I found these games fun now, what's to stop my future son in 20 years time doing the same? Fast forward to now and I have a 3 year old with whom I put in front of Jungle Hunt on the Apple IIc (original, not emulator), and he really got into it!

  • :)

  • Creepy...

  • "256k of unlimited game power"? Surely it's limited to 256k! Love the Master System though.

  • INTREDASTING

  • 28kb ?? my PS3 has 320 GB lol a lot changes in 30 years

  • @DinosawsTV YOUR PLAYSTATION PROBABLY GOT THE YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH! YA FAG! SEGA RULES!

  • 28k ZOMG O:

  • It be 255 bucks today!

    Man, gaming did get cheaper.

Of course there wasnt much to do back then except play sports or read.

  • 0.11 , yea, try to explain technical specs for a 4 year old child :P

  • Ay in the UK and rest of EU, the Master System actually surpassd the NES in nearly every way. To this day I think they had the best game boxes too. Horrible ad though.

  • @stufaman yh everybody i knew had a Master System. the NES was kinda fail over here lol only in America was it really good.

  • @Johfunu I think the other advantage SMS had over here, the NES was seen as the expensive toy in it's earlier days. Where as the SMS was more afordable early on. So it kinda filled the gap that NES did in America. The gap the made games consoles cool again after the fall of ATARI.

  • Good old 80's !!!

  • Its really a big loss that the master system was really underestimated in north america its really the same actuel power as the nes.

  • @theretrogamerno1 even more power than the NES, it was waay before its time. (:

  • @minielk454 Yeah i no right

  • 0:28

  • I like the way the giraffe goes on about the specs.

  • TRANSBOT!!1

  • 28k of memory lol

  • What kid cares about the stats of the console I wanna see games.

  • @sneskegagama Well, I guess, even before the Genesis, Sega was making a big deal about the console's specs, rather than the actual games.

  • @dstebbin

hey, if youre packin 28k of memory 64 colors and carts that have 256k of unlimited game power youd wanna hype it up too

  • WHATS THAT HUMAN-ANIMAL!

  • My master system red ringed and i'm fuckin pissed!!! =D

  • lol transbot that loooooooong ago

  • I wonder if my gamertag will work LMAO

  • 28k memory? 64 colors? MMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRCOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMBBBBBBBBBOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

  • "Unlimited Game Power" - LOL!

  • GHOST HOUSE!

  • Dayum! when did you get super technical, Geoffrey?

straight up laying down system specs in this bitch!

    i wanna be a Toys R Us nerd y'all!!

... im not black im just stoned...

  • "256k of unlimited game power!" If it's limited to 256k wouldn't that be limited?

  • i must have this cause its a MASTER system. its teh best! :D

  • lol 28 k of memory. wow!!

  • This. Is why Sega died.

  • @pepperdrummerkid no they died because of the 32x :)

  • @Moggle1 And because the ps2 had a DVD player :( that killed dreamcast.

  • @pepperdrummerkid on the contrary, this is a rather good system, and did amazingly in europe. no, not the 32x, but because they were trying to support too many consoles at once. that's the only reason why.

  • @pepperdrummerkid What? What are you talking about! Where i live, In slovakia, I didn't even KNOW what was a Nintendo because noone had it! But a lot of people (Me too) had a Master system! And when one of my friend bought a NES, We were like 'That console doesn't play Alex Kidd? What a waste!'.

  • @merkur32123 Interesting lil' fact, there, matey.

  • @merkur32123 This is so true. Same deal here in Australia. The NES was big, but still second to the mighty Sega Master System II. Alex Kidd, Wonder Boy 3 and Sonic sealed the deal!

But it wouldn't be a Master System Youtube video without a bunch of Americans chiming in with the same boring NES/Mario response. Yawn.

  • @slugnbozo

sonic was on the sega master system? what????

  • @NEScRETRO Yep, sure was. It was a very decent version actually! There was also Sonic 2 (the one with Tails) and Sonic Spinball. I'm not sure if there were any others.

  • @slugnbozo

were the graphics just toned down to run on the master system properly? i gotta see that!

  • @NEScRETRO Yeah toned down a bit, but still very bright and colourful. Also there was no "loop the loops" and the bonus stage was different (didn't spin around). The other difference I remember was a map before each turn which was actually one element that was better.

  • @NEScRETRO yeah there was Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic spinball and Sonic chaos. If there anymore than that i havnt played them but thats the ones i know off...there all really good games especially Sonic 1 and 2.

  • @slugnbozo hey, I was an American and I owned a Master System AND a NES.

Both systems had unique titles I loved as a kid. NES had Tetris and Duck Hunt, Master System had Phantasy Star and Hang On

  • @BlueKewne Hats off to you sir.

  • @merkur32123 Commodore 64 beats all other 8-bits. And it's a computer.

  • @pepperdrummerkid

    :/

this is from 1987 dude, before both Sonic & the Genesis came out...

How can this be why Sega died? they hadn't even reached the peak of their success yet...

  • @supahdupahguy81 I think the Genesis add ons are really what screwed Sega. The Saturn could have been a success if there marketing strategy wasn't so horrible for it.

  • @iGhostAssassin

Yeah true. That was definitely what did them in...

it always seemed like sega were always playing catchup to new innovations in console tech....so they just made hasty add-ons just to keep up w/ the competition....throwing money on developing add-ons that would be outdated in a year then spending even more money on developing the Saturn. Awful business decisions.

Maybe they expected to live of the Sonic franchise forever? they ended up fucking that up too...

  • @iGhostAssassin agree here, the Saturn is a decent platform and predated Playstation, besides bad marketing the system was a bitch to program apparently with the official SDK so you didn't see what the console could really do until it was dead in the US, but it got some mileage in Japan even so.

  • @iGhostAssassin Ia gree, they really messed up with those add-ons, both the SMS and MD/Genesis were awesome consoles on their own, they could have done better in my view spending those resources used to make those add-ons towards making the Saturn better and ironing out the programming flaws it had. Thats because the Saturn had awesome potential, shame it went to waste like it did.

Also its just a huge shame Sega bowed out when they had brought out their masterpiece, the Dreamcast

  • @pepperdrummerkid Yes Sega died at the Master System.

Never mind the Genesis/Megadrive, The Sega CD, the Sega Saturn, or the Sega Dreamcast...but the Sega MASTER SYSTEM.

  • 64 COLURZ??!!!!?!?!!!!! OMFG, MUST HAAAAVE!!

  • Part of the reason the master system failed was because of its crappy commercials.

  • 0:28 DERRRP

  • did I see "transbot" instead of transformers?

  • Giraffe: ''Hey kids remember when I said the NES was a must have? Well this system is a SUPER MUST HAVE, Buy both though so we get more money I mean for FUN''

  • where does that guy at the end keep coming from?

  • what a crap advert. cant take that giraffe seriously.

  • She just wants to kiss the giraffe.

  • 256k of unlimited game power!!

  • @Mrcheeseo no even .. 26k unfortunately

  • @blizzardballz, LOL, nice one.

  • At 0:28, the giraffe's eye got messed up.

  • Thats pretty expensive for back then

  • card input?

  • i dont see why its so good that the cards became 5 bucks more exspensive

  • Hmmm, The giraffe is a crack head.

  • @gamecollect101 before the surgery he was a bear

  • im like nintendo gun and master system gun

  • Dude, Transbot

  • 129.99 in today's dollars is about 277.11 so that sucker pretty pricey back in the day. man i miss my master system but it died a few years ago. And I never did get any of the game cards I only got the cartridges.

  • i still play n love my atari system

  • Why wouldn't you just get an Xbox or ps3 for god's sake?

  • @MrGrevy Because not everyone is into today's retarded-ass Halo (re: Doom) recyclings. If it weren't for Rock Band, I'd swear every game that comes out is a goddamn ripoff of something that's been around for the last 10-15 years. At least playing old-school games, you can get the real deal instead of a million carbon-copy FPS and JRPG games.

  • @galathonredd Oh.

  • @MrGrevy why are you here?

  • @cam45m51 shut up.

  • @MrGrevy look whos talking... you its not that hard to like..... you know.... go away from things you dontt like. retard

  • @MrGrevy Because xbox sucks and PS3 has lack of exclusives.

  • ROFL! 28k memory! alright!

  • in b4 adjusted for inflation calculations.

  • transbot? does that mean hes a tranny?

  • the guy in the giraffe suit's voice really pisses me off

  • whats the girl saying at the begginning

  • Wow seeing the sega master system advertised for that price is amazing. I used to own one as a kid but poppy bought it for me so i didn't know the price. That's cheap for a console that still had games made for it at the time. I guess video games hadn't gotten big yet until the nes so that's probably why. I can get the sms cheaper now! I wanna get my paws on one soon damn it!

  • Girl: NNOO!! I WANNA DOLLY!!

  • i love the way geoffrey says "unlimited game power"...haha. He'll say anything to make an extra buck. Sega Master System ruled. I prefered to the NES which had only a few games i liked, like mario.

  • Uhh, What's the purpose of having both cartridges and cards?!

  • the giraffe is creepy...

  • Lol, Pedo Giraffe, Pedobear's cousin

  • It seems like everyone here doesn't understand the difference between RAM and ROM. When Geroffery says 28K of memory, he's referring to RAM, which the Master System uses for caching no more than that amount from the 256K-worth of information from the game carts. Just remember that RAM is used on the system end for real-time data storage and ROM is used on the cartage end to store all the data that makes up a particular game.

    Look it up on Wikipedia.

  • @Ragnark1

Thanks, Doogie, you obviously use Wikipedia,

  • @damienmetalwind Thanks, but I already knew the difference...

  • @Ragnark1

Yeah, but you can't read, cuz you're restating what I said.

  • I bought this thing instead of the Nintendo becasue they were sold out... I was the only kid who ever had one, it sucked and the games were terrible!

  • @Albee213 My parents got me the Sega, cause games were $20, instead of $60. I was the only kid who had one too. It ruled, cuz I got a nes later.

  • Ya, 64 colors that's great, but does it have Blast processing?

  • got sms for Xmas. remember it taking a while trying to set it up to the TV since tvs didn't have RCA hookups.

    Sega had some great games.

  • whats funny is that the nintendo game had from 400k to 900k of awesomeness lol more then sega , and if dont believe me download a nintendo rom.

  • is it just me or does he sound a bit like Woolder Sockbat!

  • Lol

"Packed with 256k of unlimited game power." Right after he announces the limit of the cartridge he says unlimited. They didn't proof read the script?!??!

  • his eye got messed up! 0:29

  • I never thought I'd hear a giraffe tell me the memory size of something

  • lol!! as if a 5 year old kid in the 80s is gonna know what the fuck '28k of memory' is!!

I'm 26 and I'm not even really sure what it means when they refer to a cartridge-based gaming console having X amount of memory!!

  • freakin creepy giraffe

  • If that giraffe plush grew instantly like that in front of me and started talking I think I'd shit my pants.

  • lol whats that at the end?

  • @SonicKusanagi181

Look up "Crazy Christian Lady On Wife Swap," and let the lulz ensue. Bitch is freakin' INSANE.

  • "24k cards with unlimitted power" LOL

I would have thought they'd be limited to 24k

  • *(Monitor Not Included)*

  • 256k and "unlimited power" seems a bit of a stretch.

  • DDRUTOU @FullmetalninjaDR get ur fucking hearing checked he does say 256k

  • WOOOOOAH 64 COLOURS!!! thats insane

  • But seriously, this was a good console. Many of the games are still enjoyable today.

  • the master-system was 256 bit????

  • @FullmetalninjaDR 256k. Not 256 bit. Dreamcast wasn't even 256 bit

  • @DDRUTOU whoops my bad....

  • 28k of memory? Sweet where can I get one?!?!

  • God, that fucking Giraffe was scary. Thank the Ancients he's finally gone...

  • @AvgnFanSite he's not gone, i do cocaine with him every thursday!

  • @AvgnFanSite

Are you sure he's finally gone though? I've been hiding behind the sofa for 23 years...just in case.

  • @AvgnFanSite Yeah he was a pain in the neck..

    I'll get me coat..

  • The monitor is not included. Rip off.

  • Those Sega cards were pretty slick!

  • "packed with 256K of unlimited game power"? It's like saying I have 1 liter of unlimited water. How can you have an unlimited amount of something that's limited to 256K :))? And what the hell is "game power" and how can you measure it?

  • lol 28kb of memory , 64 colors.. thats the shit baby

  • I dont get it does he rape the little girl or not?

  • That Sega master system was like the Sony Playstation 3 of the day..the most powerful system you could buy, but didn't have the greatest selection of games for it..lol

  • @tom11zz884 ..At least not in the USA ;)

  • Thank god they dont have thoses ad anymore

  • what a fucked up ad

  • And they went and stuck a bloody sticker on the thing, they'll never get that residue off ,i've tried with the i have !

  • thats one fuckt up draff!!!!

  • stupid vanpire!!!!

  • LOl it costed the same as a nintendo ds lite.

  • What kid would care about the memory size ?!

  • @0121ryanh117 ow i would at the age of 6/7 believe it or not

  • @0121ryanh117 um... i did.

  • @0121ryanh117 Smart kids, like moi...I LOVED hearing about the newest "king" of cart-sizes. 32-megs!!!

  • @0121ryanh117 its so true like kids really give a shit about that

  • I love the way the camra keeps looks at the GUN be funny if the girlo pics it up and shoots the toys r us animal !!!!

  • 28k is beast! lol

  • I like Jeffery's lazy eye at the end! MuHAHAHA!

  • i love sega and nintendo, i could never choose one (they are both awful now)

  • i have a tone of games for the system. well only 25 ^^ plus two build in games. but i never had those cards. what did u use them for

  • Wow! Look at the specs of that thing!

  • man 29.99 for a card game 0_0 man those where the best times man.

  • it had some really good games
