The reason I say these things is that our country does not take care of (or even like) poor people. We don't have a "social safety net" like other countries do (France, The Netherlands etc.) and Americans don't like paying taxes, especially to support poor people. Poor people are hated here so why on earth would you want your kid to be a poor person too?

I have to say it, been taking such flak for my earlier comments, ONLY RICH PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE KIDS. BTW, glad your cancer is gone. Look, hospital bills are astronomical, health insurance is astronomical, education is astronomical and God forbid you get sick. Who in their right mind (especially in this economy) who is'nt already a millionaire, decides to have a baby? Can't you just wait, instead of subjecting your kid to a life of poverty and deprivatation??
