@Painter208 I'll let ya in on a little choreo secret: Fosse designed this particular pas de deux intentionally a bit out of synch, for very specific steps.

Bebe's been dancing since she was 3. I assume Karen is skilled to match anyone in less than 8 hours of rehearsal. Unless... Fosse choreographed this one a-synchronous with a purpose. ;-)

Definitely the best performance of this number ever recorded!

One of Fosse's signatures was having the dancers so close that they HAD to be in perfect synch, and this show what that's supposed to look like.

Broadway trivia - two shows are tied for having the most Tony nominations with no wins: the original 1975 Chicago (which was up against "A Chorus Line") and 1997's Steel Pier, also by Kander and Ebb, which was up against this revival of Chicago.

@RinntasticCurly I see what you're talking about, but I think that's part of the beauty of this all. Even though they aren't performing in the musical, they ARE in character. The people they're portraying are working together, but both are trying to be better than the other. I think it's more of a compliment to their acting then something off about the performance.

I've seen the date for this listed as Nov. 1999 but I'm not sure if it aired on TV then and/or was released on video then. The actual performance/taping may have been 1998 or 1999. I love Karen and Bebe in this number.
