Well the panel or the announcer, needs to be updated ive never seen a system in code tht allows you to pull the pull station just to put the system in drill mode.

That is kinda kewl for a teenager to be able to initiate a fire alarm and not get into trouble. I've done it so many times I can't even begin to count. I'll put it to you this way, I've tested the World Bank in Wash DC. They have over 2,500 initiation devices (Manual Stations, Smoke Detectors., Flow Switches).

@clarkloveselevators I've heard door releases and HVAC shut offs make the same noises. No real way to identify it without seeing the building itself. Not all buildings have HVAC shut offs tied into the alarm system, and not all buildings have magnet holders on fire doors.

I hate the sound of your alarm because it sounds just like the sound of our alarm. Our Dorm alarm to be specific, and you wont hear it during the day but of course in the wee hours of the night when someone decides to burn up there mid night snack at say like 3:45am in the morning.
