Carlos does not have the same suppleness/ strength in his knees as Nureyev in this role re: when landing the sauts de basque he does not bend his knees enough (as much as Nureyev). I only make this comparison because I read in his biography that he was given the honour of playing Nureyev in a representation of Corsair (I think by the Royal Ballet). ANyway, he's still great!
what codswallop! Acosta is far superior to Nureyev - strength and suppleness is irrelevant - more a matter of the biomechanics of your body than ability to dance the role!
you talk about playing the role...!? Please ask what Carlos could 've taken from Nureyev in terms of acting. He was immense and redefined many of the most traditional ballets. He invented the male lead. Carlos is good, really good, Nureyev was completely immersed in ballet, completely committed.
No - you have not understood - the ability to dance the role based on knee flexibility - not to portray the role. Read more carefully next time!
In any case much of what you have stated is merely because Nureyev came first. Carlos Acosta also redefined the roles he played;portraying them with much more seductive energy and technical prowess that Nureyev never did.
Notice that his pirouettes, although great, were not as good as usual. The floor in Laussane is very inclined, that's why I prepared a Bournanville variation when i competed.
vergas.. yo que me spantaba con Carreño, de cubanos.. no, pss taba chavo; aunque la neta prefiero el tipo de presencia de Corella (ya en forma muy personal).
Fabulous. Carlos Acosta is the best male dancer in the world. That says a lot when one considers Sergi Filin and Igor Zalensky are such supurb dancers themselves. Do not pass up the opportunity to view this clip.

This music is actually by Riccardo Drigo, isn't it?
SilverInsanity 3 years ago 2
The music was written by Aldolpe Adam, the 19th Century French composer who also wrote Giselle.

It doesn't look like Lorna Feijoo, plus it says it's Diana Vishneva. Awesome video, nonetheless.

the dancers are Carlos Acosta and Lorna Feijoo, of the Cuba National Ballet, in the Great Theatre of Hava. I use to work there!.
