  • IN SPANISH THE TRANSLATION IS BAD.... PIJUS MAGNIFICUS

  • This one soldier has eyes like Marty Feldman. Is it him?

  • FUCKING BRILLIANT.

  • Love 3:18 where Palin nearly giggles :L

  • BWian?!

    no, no BRian!

  • I used to have a teacher who pronounced her Rs like Ws, we learned a lot that year about euwos and wevenue..

  • @Broezzz tell her to speak "rhubarb revolver on a rover" or something xd

  • Oh the Mighty Biggus Dickus lives in the books of Pliny the Middling and serially unreliable Greco-Roman historian - and part time wrestler 'Agrippa the Grappler' lol

  • my ex and my dad were yelling this at each other at dinner once.... my mom and i sat there hopelessly.

  • I personally think this is the best scene ever!

  • Oh dear Lord, I swear I was hyperventilating at the end.

  • Lol apparently the extra soldiers weren't told what Palin was going to do so they were told to just stand there and not laugh, so that is real laughter!! xD

  • On German its much funnier

  • @JustInGamePlay nein mann :D das hier ist auf SO viele verschiedene arten lustig... das kann man im deutschengarnicht rüberbringen!

  • @IDNFreak find ich schon allein wegen dem Wiebidde von dem Soldaten

  • Incontinentia Buttocks pmsl

  • I have decided to put some of your videos on my favourites

  • oh yes...throw him to the floor again please

  • He has a wife you know?

  • His English accent always made it hard for my American ass to even hear that he was (apparently obviously) pronouncing his R's as W's.

  • I bet everyone who see this is laughing

  • Why is everyone laughing at this? Do you think there is something risible when I say the name

    Biggus....

    ...Dickus?

  • @placidandy Because he talks with a lisp and its a very funny name.

  • 3:10 omg I died at that bit. It was sooo funny

  • I piss my pant everytime I see this, So funny. Biggus Dickus

  • Fro im to the foor!

  • This is one of those "just TRY not to laugh" things! XD

  • @WilhelminaGrady13 Palin intentionally made the guards corpse. They were told it was a serious scene and not to laugh or they'd be fired. So naturally that was a bald face lie and the above is what we get.

  • I'm a roman.

    A woman?

    No no, ROMAN! xDDDDDDDDDD

  • and shall i say the name again? dickus... dickus!

  • Nothing beats English humour :')

  • Epic, just EPIC!

  • I love that their laughter was genuine. It makes this scene golden.

  • Love that you can see Michael Palin trying not to crack up with laughter as well!

  • creases me up this. who were those two guards next to each other I wonder?..... soooooo funny. And the laughs at 3.55 ..... classic!

  • Heil Caesar...it makes sense since he is a dictator. i just realized they were referring to dictatorship and Hitler.

  • The little wascal has spiwit.

    Has what, sir?

    Spiwit.

    Yes. He did, sir.

No, no. Spiwit, siw. Um, bwavado. A touch of dewwing-do.

    Oh. Ahh, about eleven, sir.

  • Just some back story for anyone interested: All of the extras where asked by the directors (and members of Monty Python) to not laugh during the scene, and the scene went exactly to plan.

  • The governor remembers a friend of mine. lol

  • "I'm not jewish, I'm a roman."

    "A woman?"

    "No no. Roman."

    *gets slapped in the face*

  • Comment removed

  • 63 people a womans

  • lol came here after this /watch?v=_EKHWpK_24o bf3 vs mw3

  • "The little wascal has spiwit!"

    "Has what, sir?"

    "Spiwit!"

    "Yes, he did, sir."

"No, no, spiwit ... bwavado ... a touch of dewwing-do."

    "Ah, about eleven, sir."

  • Omg I laughed so hard I cried! HahahH

  • Gwaham Chapman's face must huwt with all that slapping!

  • @SFXAlien924 ltell you what was hard, watching the film been giving the script and seening your name next to "pilate" then trying to do this whole scene while not laughing xD

  • @Tube11ize Yeah, those actors did really well not to laugh 2 much! I'd have been in stitches! LOL!

  • @SFXAlien924 you can see michael palin laughing alittle bit when hes in the guards face...but yeah i actually acted this out for a play at school, was hilliarious.we watched the film and then our teacher decided to make us do a play of it,and he just ended up giving me so many parts, during life of brian i had to play,Pilate which was funy cause i got to slap my mates face without getting into shit xP and i also had to play mr cheeky and the guy in the prision as well, but this scene was best :P

  • @SFXAlien924 pause it at 3:19 and you can see mike smerking,i have to sayit was very difficult for me to do it,squaring into my mates face saying biggus dickus,we had to redo this one scene about 3 or 4times cause of me xD

  • @Tube11ize Well spotted! He seems 2B almost laughing around 3:45 as well. So you've done this scene as well. RU an actor/actress then?

  • @SFXAlien924 nah not a actor,it was just a fun thing at school, but it was put on for about 3,4 days at our local theater because our teachers were impressed and paid out thousands of pounds as a end of school gift, cause i was chosen for Pilate,Mr cheeky and Singing `always look on the bright side` i had to watch this scene a couple of times at home to get it right and spotted Palin laughing-shame i anit a actor tho i`d love to do this scene..was a good laugh :P

  • @Tube11ize Oh well, I guess only a few get their lucky break. :-(

  • He wanks as high as anyone in Wome!

  • Its the giggle loop xD

  • Pilate: A Rwo-man?

    Brian: No, no, RO-man.

    (Centurion hits him)

    I absolutely love this scene.

  • John Cleese's laugh >.<

  • Risible.

  • bigus dickus

  • Ouu, uuu ...uuu! The little wascal has spear-wit!

  • "He has a wife you know..." *oh god*

  • 63 Romans were sacked for laughing

  • I love that he's trying hard not to laugh when he gets up in the centurian's face!

  • There should be an intermission right before this scene, for the prevention of wet trousers.

  • Oh, uh... about eleven sir. :)

  • stwike him centuwian hahaha

  • this is one of my favourite scenes. also the free brian scene on the balcony

  • I love how the guards are genuinely laughing. Bless you, Palin.

  • @TheCoolShades I love how Michael is also trying so hard not to!

  • By God I'd love to have been there at the rehearsal of this lmfao

  • Stwike him, centuwion! Stwike him vewwy woughly!

  • I went to see this at the Richmond (south o f London) Odeon in 1979 and queue was very long, it was 3 days before I could get a seat. I've probably seen it 100 times since, thanks to Beta, VHS and DVD

  • . . At 1:55 . . What's so funny about Bickus Dickus? . . . Well, its a joke name, Sir . . I have a vary gweat fwiend in Woame called Bickus Dickus . .

  • incontinentia

  • mycket bra

  • the face at 3:09 FTW

  • Graham Chapman didn't look too shabby either, really sad that he's gone from this world

    R.I.P, Graham

  • ...Dewwing-Do! fucking lol

  • in Italian, Bigus Dickus is dubbed as Marco Pisellonio (Pisello=pea, and of course dick as well), which I find even funnier than the original, since it sounds more Latin. Same applies for Incontinentia Deretana.

(Sometimes dubbed versions may sound better than the original...)

  • any other girl(or guy, just in case) who finds John Cleese in Roman costume to be very handsome, thumbs up(or comment in a nice, friendly demeanor)

    +

if there's one man i wanna get slapped in the face by and taken away if laughing, it is without a doubt John Cleese

  • @lotten1992 you're right, John Cleese as a Roman *is* very handsome, not to mention authoritative. *wibble*

I think it's because he has no moustache. Likewise, he is quite handsome as Reg. Again, no moustache. But I still fancy the pants off Michael Palin more <3 <3 <3

(I'm a girl, btw- but even if I was a bloke, if it came to Michael Palin I would.)

  • @lotten1992 i think any man looks sexy in roman military costume.....

  • @Trinacria1973 You know that their costumes were a joke right? Thats not what there military would have worn.

  • The funniest bit for me is when the guards are doing everything they can not to fall on the floor laughing. i dont think that was acted and those men were really almost wetting themselves

  • @eldritchwulfe you are correct, they were told that if they laughed they would get fired so they were really trying hard not to laugh

  • this scene just starts so awkwardly. gets funnier once they get to the biggis dickus part.

  • Incontinentia translates into Latin literally as "an inability of containing or retaining". Combine that with the word "buttocks" in context to the husband's name of Biggus Dickus, then that can mean that his wife gives it up to every Thomus, Dickus, and Harrius in Rome. In layman's terms: That bitch is a ho.

  • @ivesofmarch or it could mean she has terrible diorrhea.

  • 62 people have friends in Wome named Biggus Dickus

  • 3:04 -"What about you? Do you find it... wisible...?" LOL LOL LOL LOL XD

  • 62 people must have felt like a little giggle..

  • A rwomen?

  • the wittle wascal has spewit.

  • Ask Brian Eno's!

  • lol i didnt actually get the incontinentia buttocks joke until my brother explained it to me :P i cant stop laughing at it now :P

  • I think it's so sweet that they let 62 monkeys play with youtube for the day.

  • @JellybeanDrifter Technically it would be 124 monkeys because if they click at random between the 2 thumbs buttons they would have a 50/50 chance of liking or disliking meaning that half of the 124 monkeys would have clicked dislike. Then again the like button is twice as the dislike button so that they would be 33% more likely to click it in which case you would have 186 monkeys. Just fyi

  • oh, about 11 sir

  • the way brian fall on the floor after receiving his slap at1:18 is so funny !!^^

  • Seriously...how can Michael Palin keep a straight face doing this scene???

  • @lot24 I bet the first 100 times they rehearsed this scene everybody including cast was ROFLTAO

  • I first saw this when I was about 11 or 12 and I used to think it was "Pickus Dickus".

  • I tried not laughing along with the soldiers and failed XD

  • Big(us) Dick(us) = XDDD

  • the bigus dickus part is awesome all right, but all the scene before is also incredibly funny, with cesear weird accent and the slaps ^^

  • "STHWIKE HIM STHENTURIAN, WERY WUFFLY!" XD

  • 61 Jewish rapskalians disliked this video.

  • @ShanesAutos Jewish Wapskalians

  • This film takes me back to my own school days.I'm sure many folks can relate to the helpless feeling of trying with all your might to suppress a laugh with an authoritarian teacher standing nearby. I can also recall tormenting a friend by making funny faces while he was being reprimanded by the Principal.God we were bad. LOL!

  • How the hell does Palin keep a straight face the entire time? xD

  • @kitkatcutie520 Because he's a comedy master.

  • @kitkatcutie520 I really have no idea. He had a reputation for being the Python most likely to laugh in a scene, as well. There are so many clips of Flying Circus where he turns his back to the camera because he's laughing and they kept the take cause they couldn't afford to reshoot it. xD

  • i love how the guard on the left is crying. they dont even need to fake-laugh cuz its so damn funny XD

  • Incontinentia Buttocks... teehehhehehe.

  • GLadiator school lol

  • 61 people are cheesemakers.

  • "Oh!. Ah-h, about eleven, Sir." XD

  • it´s funnier in german

  • bicus dicus..hahahahahaha

  • The funniest scene in life of brian by far!

  • I love this scene. Lmao bigus dickus

  • no no brian

  • Cenwuwion, stwike him, vewwy wuffwy

  • I first watched this while in a library, so you can imagine how painful it was when I was trying not to laugh out loud the whole time. Best way to watch this clip IMO! Haha

  • Did this need several takes? because there is no way I could've stood there with a straight face.

  • @MrZafod All the guards were informed that they would be sacked if they laughed. Now that's what I call enforced method acting!

  • "Oh, about 11, sir.." haha xD

  • This gets funnier everytime i watch it!! Thanks Pythons you truly are comedy genius!

  • who playd the commander?

  • @thejoakim1337 played*

  • @thejoakim1337

    John Cleese innit

  • This is EASILY the funniest film ever, I should know, I've seem a few.

Plus my name is B(w)ian, and my mates missus calls me Biggus Dickus, but this is a family site, so I wouldn't go into that here lol

  • watch it in german,it's even better (;

  • @LineHazel how does it work when "roman" doesnt with "r" in german?

  • @Scotch7000

In german,he's not able to say "b" and says "p" instead and some other things, the r isn't the problem (:

  • @LineHazel I don't understand how you Germans can enjoy watching dubbed movies.

  • @Assemblage84 maybe being a slightly ignorant prevents you from that? maybe? We have enough people actually do dubbing, as well as skilled text writer, and trust me, this scene has the same degree of funniness in the german dub, even when Pilate has a different spelling error in our version. Saying dubbing is bad per se however, or implying that, is just dumb, so yeah, grow up. You enjoy watching movies in your language, we enjoy it in our own, its that simple.

  • @FrontlinerCdV "You enjoy watching movies in your language, we enjoy it in our own"

I enjoy watching movies in whatever language. In Sweden we never dub movies.

  • @Assemblage84

how else are we supposed to understand it? (:

I mean, most of the time the original voices are waaay better, that's why I watch most movies in english. But if ppl arent good enough in english, what are they supposed to do? It's not too bad.(:

  • @LineHazel Ever heard of subtitles?

  • @Assemblage84

Sure, but have you ever seen a movie with subs?

Most of the time your're busy with reading so you miss half of the movie (:

  • @LineHazel Haha or not, have watch subtitles my entire life, and never misses anything.

  • @Assemblage84 I agree! I am german, and I try to watch all movies in their original language, if I understand it.

  • @Assemblage84

    for us it's just normal.

it's the same when american or english people watch films in their language.

how can you not understand this ??

  • @Secondbloodbrother Americans and Englishmen watching English-languaged movies is hardly the same as Germans watching non-German movies dubbed into German.

  • @Assemblage84

    how do you know ?

  • @Assemblage84 Um yes it is. Its like watching non-english movies dubbed into english. When movies are dubbed properly, they're just as funny as original ones.

  • @derbigpr500 I see that you have English languaged music videos in your favourites... Would you prefer to watch them dubbed into your own language?

  • @Assemblage84 ahah you're right...i'm italian and we watch dubbed movies too...i can swear italian version is pretty funny too, but a lot of double meanings are missed, like "I'm not jew, i'm a roman!" "A WOMAN??"...and bigus dickus is "Marco Pisellonio"!!!

  • @Assemblage84

Well, for example, the whole "I can understand what they're saying without having to read" - thing is an advantage. And it's still funny because it has the same jokes.

  • @Assemblage84 'Life of Brian' is A LOT more funnier in German!

But I agree: most movies are better in the orginal version...

  • watch it in german it's funny as hell^^

  • @photoshophelp4you how does it work when "roman" doesnt with "r" in german?

  • @Scotch7000 in german there is an 'r' ^^

  • @Scotch7000 i just mean in germany they talk funnier :)

  • Funiest part of the movie

  • I'm Brians and so is my wife......

  • Funny as Fook...never ages:-)

  • When I first saw this scene I tried not luaghing as well.

  • "I am not Jewish I am a roman"

    "A Woman?"

    "N o no, Roman..."

    So fcking funny

  • most people do not remotely understand why this movie is often listed as the funniest movie of all time. just walk up to anyone and say Life of Brian, then gauge their response.

  • I laugh hysterically EVERY TIME I watch this............

  • stwike him centuwion, wewy wuffly !!!

  • I'm not jewish I'm a wowman. A wowman? No no, a roman
