Question: looking to start that 408w but I'm stuck with one question. 11:1 compression is the highest I can go on race gas. But e85 runs at a colder burn and is known for around 106 octane. Would I be able to run s 13:1 or 14:1 compression and use e85 safely as a street car? Pro and cons of such a high compression? I know drag cars normally run high compression and that you get more Hp with higher compression. Would it negatively effect the nitrous I want to put on the car?
@o5socalsrt first off if you have nitrous in the vehicle kiss street legal good bye. second running E85 is not very street applicable.
If your going to run 14:1 compression you going to need a high octane fuel so that the ignition happens at its ideal time. Your going to require lots of tuning. As for nitrous effecting it im not sure.
@alldayandnight09 I am not concerned about "street legal" I'm in california so once the 408 goes in it then the street legal shit is gone anyways. Also I meant pump gas 11:1 is the highest I can go. I don't wanna run race gas all the time. Also e85 is VERY streetable. Theres tons of friends of mine running e85 everyday on turbo charged cars. Not only that but some of them are doing 800+ hp on 48psi on an evolution. Running built motor with e85. Its very street legal I just need to know its limit

@o5socalsrt Oh. If you dont care about street illegal go alot man. I thought u did cause you were sayin how you wanted to run E85 as street. And i was actually mistake E85 is streetable but just not many gas stations have it. (at least around where i live) So find a few and stick with em i guess.
i got a 64 1/2 mustang with a 408 windsor going in it, eagle crank and rods, dome top pistons with 11:1 compression, edelbrock victor jr. heads a custom grind cam i think is pretty similar to yours, a fogger system with 125 shot in now, dyno'd at 550 somethin all motor and just over 700 on the spray. i just wanna know what your makin cuz i'm really wantin to hit single digits too.
Thanks for the quick reply!! Why did you go 10.2:1 compression? Why not 10.5:1 or higher if you're running all motor? What heads did you put on this beast? You have an awesome build man it sounds amazing. Can I run any year 351w to a 408 without any problems?
@o5socalsrt This was built to be a street car and i wanted to be able to run pump gas with no issues so i didnt want to get crazy with the compression. It has AFR 205cc on it. The car went a best of 9.80 @ 137 MPH a few months ago on a 100 shot and 10.80 @ 127 on motor. The motor is torn apart right now and is in the process of being rebuilt for heavy boost application. Got new heads for it, which are TFS-R 235cc with tons of CNC and port work on them, they flow about 360 cfm on the intake.
@o5socalsrt The older style blocks are no roller blocks, so you have to run the link bar lifts. I believe the new blocks are roller blocks and you use the dog bone setup like the 302 use. I'm not real sure about the new stuff, iv only dealt with the older style non-roller blocks. My custom grind cam from this setup is forsale, if your interested. Its a Cam Motion custom grind for Solid Mechanical Roller
@o5socalsrt The block is a 1974 351w bored to .040 over. It has a Eagle 4340 Forged Crank w/4.00 stroke with Eagle 4340 H-beam rods 6.200 long. Probe 2618 Forged aluminum pistons dish -20cc to make the compression around 10.2:1. Vic jr intake with a Prosystems 850 carb, Cam is a custom grind from Cam Motion Lift: .686 IN, .662 EX
in my opinion, a 1/78 primaries and 3" collector, 3" right through to tailpipes will make this thing so much faster, that and a little better suspension, ford motors love back pressure ! just my .02 !
wow bro it sounds gud i want to build a motor something similar. may be a 347 though. hey are u still able to drive it on the streets? cuz man i know ur not pasing smog
It runs good, it has went 10.80's on motor but still needs some tuning. Still waiting to spray the 200 shot to it! The heads are AFR 205cc with a spring upgrade. Almost .700 lift cam... With 2" primary headers. The compression ration is around 10.5:1
Thanks for the quick reply.....Again, very impressed with your engine.....Did you stay with injection or go with a carb? My plan was to go super victor with mine...
Thanks man, I really appreciate the people on here that actually give props for stuff. I'm used to a bunch of haters... But yeah, I went with a carb. I have a victor Jr single plane intake. I sent it off to Steve Johnson of Induction Solutions for the direct port fogger system. I had a QuickFuel 750 but just switched to a Pro-Systems Carb 850ish.
I have the Edelbrock Super Victor Direct Port Kit. Im sure ill be going with around a 250 shot, but i can go up to 500 if i want..... The car doesnt get hot at all now, and it runs on 93 octane. Thats with a water pump mounted flex-fan, im still trying to get an e-fan for it though.
I've been watching your videos all the time! I got caught a few times at work too! That thing will be a beast with nitrous, any plans on how big of a shot? You might even consider running methanol so you could run that beast down the track all day even faster and never worry about it getting hot. Just an idea though.
Man this is the best sounding mustang I can find! The idle is so choppy it just makes you want to run away and cry like a little girl. Very nice job on the car and thanks for the inspiration. Maybe I'll post a video of mine when I can build one someday.
Thanks for the kind words. Im very proud of this car. Let me know when you get yours running! Go watch some of the other videos of it going down the track. 10.84 @ 124 is my personal best so far. Havnt ran it with the bigger PRO SYSTEMS carb yet or the nitrous....
.690/.680 Lift CamMotion cam, 408w, Forged Internals, Vic Jr Intake, QuickFuel 750 Race carb, AFR 205cc heads - Upgraded springs, Mighty Mite C4, and Super Victor Fogger 250-500 shot. If you want more info just ask
