They wear those masks for protection. No one in my league does it, but I've been hit in the face before and it hurts a lot. So I wish we did have them.

I say that organizations should stay out of it. I believe this is a free country so you should be able to chose if you want to wear a mask. As a pitcher, I see them as distracting and a crutch. If you can't keep the ball out of the middle of the plate and defend yourself, then it's your own problem. If it makes you feel safer to wear a mask, then more power to ya! :)

i think the mask is a good idea bc a girl at white knoll was playing 3rd base and one of our good hitters came up and hit a line drive at her face knocked her clean out and her nose got completly crushed well it was bearly hanging on there. so it just depends on what age level you play on and where you play.
