  • We are not wrong in organized atheism. Theists have a point of view and organize themselves to help keep it positive and promote there view's. Organized Atheism should do the same thing.

It seems like 1 atheist contradicting what a theist says can be ignored. People have a better chance of listening to a group of smart and organized Atheists because they can no longer say "its just 1 fool spouting nonsence" but maybe there is something I should take the time to listen too.

  • The only reason it would be wrong is because it scares fundies...

  • What's wrong with uniting in the name of a lack of belief in a god or gods?

Don't get all t00bie about it, just relax.

  • Just wondering.

    Atheist=Irreligious. True or false? =/

  • sorry, i just think atheism is too broad of a common trait among people to organize. there are atheists like you who are rational but there are also dumb fucking idiot atheists who just wanna have the tittle because it makes them look bad ass

  • @macwild1234

It's not just that it's too a broad characteristic, but atheism is defined by the lack of something, ergo atheism has no principles by which to establish an organization, and the only thing that members of said organization would have in common is what they don't have.

  • Orchestrated atheism is not necessarily "organized".

  • Orchestrated atheism is not organized atheism!

  • Organized Atheism? not interested.good to make videos and raise questions and give information and make people think and question things so they can go and change things (or don't) but Organized atheism? for what? fancy club member cards? if you want to go to a speech from a brilliant thinker for example there are many organisations and other places you can go. Organized Atheism to me is like (sort of) organized religions, there's always someone who fucks everything up. greetings from an atheist

  • A lot of the time people believe blindly and then defend the fundamentalists who are doing real damage. These moderates defend religion because they use tolerance as a defense without understanding the bullshit that is religion. Therefore, we organize towards a common goal by confronting religion and exposing it as a fraud. Were not like religion because we discuss, debate and confront, not force, manipulate or indoctrinate.

  • I'm an atheist too. And I don't think that its wrong at all to organize with each other because were all together for a common goal. Even though the opinions and philosophies that we hold are very different from each other. One atheist might hold a viewpoint that keeping our nation secular is more important than having a theoretical debate. I DON'T WANT TO DESTROY RELIGION for example. I Want people to understand what they believe.

  • My last point is that organized atheism is not a question of right or wrong but a question of whether it is right for you. Some people want to follow their own way of life alone, others want to be a part of a supportive community. There is nothing wrong with being apart of an atheist community. It isn't contradictory. Sometimes you just want a place you can go to where you can talk to people and learn and better understand things.

  • I just want to say that I think organized atheism makes a statement about those a part of it: that they feel alone and want to be apart of something. But there is nothing wrong with that. Also, I think it would be a good idea to state why you think religion is wrong so that people can understand atheists better. Also, I agree that it is wrong to discriminate, the only way to eliminate sterotypes about atheists is to let outsiders in your world.

  • Pt.7 I am not attacking anyone nor am I discriminating against anyone. I am just stating my believes & I do believe everyone is entitled to it. Just make sure it makes sense to you. Most importantly, don't let others label you. Peace & love to all.

  • Pt.6 If you are an atheist who doesn't believe in religion or god, but believes in something, something more out there, which gives life meaning & some kind of point, then maybe you shouldn't be calling yourself one. This is my oppinion & it wasn't meant to offend anyone.

  • Pt.5 Atheist do not believe in a God. They don't believe in anything (unless I've been misinformed, please enlighten me). I personally think when you have no hope in anything, you have none at all. & when there is no hope..then what is the point of anything? Religion is bad for numerous & obvious reasons, but being hopeless & not believing in something more is aswell

  • That last one is the fourth part.

  • So wouldn't that be the same thing but on an opposite side? I think people have a choice to live their own lives however they wish, aslong as you "do not" harm another being. The only real problem I have about atheism is that it's so on the opposite side of religion, that it almost doesn't have a point.

  • Pt 1 (again)I'm not sure if I'm the right person to say anything. I myself am a cristian but not by heart or choice(at the time). It's more of on the records kinda thing. I felt I did it for the wrong reasons & now I'm regreting it because it wasn't a logical thing to do on my behalf. Though I'm not religious since I don't believe in religion, I am not an atheist at all. I have my own believes so I guess I'm not anything but a man with his own beliefs & ideas. I don't want a label.

  • Damn, the 1st part of my long rambling comment didn't get posted, lol.

  • I don't follow a crowd. Now getting to my point, if atheist do get together in one organization, it might not start off as a religion but it most likely will end up as one in it's own form or something likewise. There will be one person who will put down rules for other atheist to follow & it will change & be about what it wasn't about to begin with.

  • Part 2: ...I just wanna be me. I don't hate nor do I dislike any kind of ppl on either side, but I do think they both have their flaws. I don't like the idea of religion saying what is suppose to be right from wrong when there is a lot of wrongs in it. I don't like the idea of religion trying to govern people's lives. I don't like the idea of "others" telling me I'm wrong because "I" am not trying to "do" what "those" who are of religion - are told what to do.

  • I said stop been a retard and find a Jesus in ur life

  • It's good, as long as you are educating more than Christian bashing. You'd do better to spread your message without the cussing. Wear a white suite and speak eloquently. Otherwise you are just scaring away the people you are trying to save. Our message is one of virtue. We are the ones with reasons. We do not need weapons. The message is what matters. The numbers only mean as much as the audience perceives them to mean.

  • "atheists are the least trusted minority"

I'd like to see some solid statistics on this, as I highlty doubt this applies to much of the civlized world, save for the U.S.

Remember, fundies are control the government/media, so if that's where you get your news, you ain't gettin' the real news.

Most atheists don't see a need to speak out in public on not believing, since mere non belief warrents no such urge. For instance, most of my atheist friends say I'm wasting my time with this.

  • It's not organization we should avoid, it's dogmatism. And dogmatism is quick to come around when we talk organizations.

  • This is absolutely crazy. I posted a response explaining my reasons for not initially replying to this video. To cut a long story short, anything that has been said since this video was first posted, I think that you may find my opinion now immaterial. Take care.

  • Um guys, I hate to cut in, but I'm being told by YouTube that somebody called AtheistAaron responded to a comment that I don't really remember making here for this video. Does anyone mind giving any info if they remember me saying something?

  • The comment system is so fucked right now, I don't see anything by you or AtheistAaron.

  • Oh, okay, thanks.

  • So isn't it better to not bring the subject of beliefs & forget this whole "war" ..?

  • Beliefes are more like opinions or something like that .. so basicly you're hating & bashing people for having opinions .. ever thought of it this way ..?

  • If someone actually speaks on both sides & without hatred there's a chance I think ..

  • I would like to respond to this video via your Inbox would that be ok?

  • Yeah that would be alright.

  • Very well said, I totally agree.

  • If you'd see the vid I gave you, you'd know that what you're doing is wrong ..

people need god .. not everyone can live without one .. you're trying to rip that part off people's lives .. I know someone will say "well religion is bad cuz it makes people kill each other" .. if someone kills for his beliefes he's a fucking fraud or he's an idiot .. god never wanted people to kill .. why would he ..?

  • People don't need a god, if anything they need support. I thought I needed a "god" once upon a time and look at me now. Yes, it leaves quite a big hole in your life but once you get past it you realize that you never had anything to begin with. Religion stunted my growth as a human being in so many ways. I agree with you, anyone who kills for their god is an idiot...that withstanding there are way too many idiots in this world.

  • You say people don't need a god .. Athiests will agree with you & Thiests won't .. so basicly you won't acomplish anything cuz the only people that'll ever agree with you are Athiests ..

  • I was a theist though...a theist who thought he needed god and realized he was wrong. I've seen both sides of this and I now firmly stand where I do.

  • But that doesn't mean most Thiests are feeling [or will feel] the same ..

  • We are NOT wrong. I agree, our interest is to halt religious growth and create a forum for everybody to help each other gain strength and the community feel most of all humans want to support our psyche. I see nothing wrong in trying to create a functional movement as long as we don't sell into PC and moral majority tendencies.

  • For somebody to organize to help each other in one particular fight cant be wrong. We organize for everything because we are communicative animals. The atheist community "discriminate" against the theists. They have their agenda, their churches, their plans. And we oppose them. So why should we let them hang with us when we make plans? They will not want to help us. So why let them hang with us?

  • That's a good question...I'm not sure I like the "us vs. them" mentality, but when you have christians and muslims threatening your life over YouTube just because you are an atheist that's what it comes down to sometimes. I appreciate your feedback.

  • I understand your problem with the "us" vs. "them". But it is reality, it is "them" and their religions we want to change. So naturally, there will be some level of conflict.

  • But what I mean is, it seems like the more intelligent someone is, the more they see the world for what it is. Example: Someone sees rape. What justification for a "god" to have that could make that okay? I think alot of the more intelligent people realize that. Also to me it seems like people tend to use religion to take the blame off them. Meaning if life is hard, they can think the means justify the end and it's destiny.

  • This will come out wrong but fuck it. It seems like the people with higher IQs tend to discredit religion more often. It's hard to say without sounding like an anti-religion biggot.

  • The bible ripping show was fucking bad ass.

  • Thank you...that was probably the most fun I have ever had at a show, too bad The Garage shit a tit about it.

  • You're creating an antagonist to religion and religions like christianity feed off competing with their opponents. As soon as one atheist does something wrong and people know about it religion will demonize the entire community. Giving religion a fist in the face will only make it stronger. People will believe whatever they want to believe no matter what you say. Giving them opposition will only give them stronger resolve. Religion can only die a natural death.

  • In a way you are right, then again the entire atheist community is already demonized...and by having a community like this it shows people who may be ashamed by their atheism because society has programmed them to feel that way that they are not alone and they are not monsters.

  • The opposite can also be said, people who aren't ashamed of it can become ashamed becaue of the actions of fellow members. I don't understand why someone woud be ashamed in the 1st place. It's like being sad santa didn't bring you anything for christmas but at the same time not believing in santa. I don't think atheism is anything that one should build a scene around, which has been done intentionally or not. Just live, pay no attention to religion one way or the other... does no good anyway.

  • I don't fucking know what to think about this either.Does this help?

  • I think there's too much of an obsession over the idea of being 'organized', and not enough about simply 'networking.'

Also, regarding the the Stickam thing, I'm pretty sure the original reason for the password (who am I supposed to ask btw ?) was to keep out room hijackers.

  • Atheism would get just as power hungry as a religion if it got more accepted, and organized. It's not faith, it's human nature to be douche bags.

  • Yeah, righteous, people are so pretentious to think that religiona causes every conflict in the world when Human have a tendency to fight over anything. They forget the social, cultural, national, political and racial causes to wars.

  • Religion is almost never the true "cause" of a war, but it is the most powerful way to justify it to the masses: "Risk this life, for is is meaningless. The next life will be an eternal paradise for you, should you be lucky enough to die a martyr's death."
