The sticker at the nose near the window is not a squadron logo it is called nose art and all b52's have their own artwork. The engines go to 75% power for thirty seconds before shutdown so the accessory unit on the engine can push all of the oil back into the oil tank. The landing gear is a quadracycle style and the only air force aircraft equipped with this type.
Why do the engines seem like they're starting up again just before they get shut down at the end of every B52's journey and where does the Tail Sign "OTW" mean they are from? Thanks.
This is B-52H 61-017 "Renegade", from Air Force Reserve Corps, Barksdale AFB, Louisiana. Not sure where you see OTW. I think the rev boost at shutdown is just to reduce vibrations when power is cut, although I am no expert!
It is the pitch of the wings. They are mounted at a different pitch than a traditional airliner or plane. Once the airplane starts to take the wings level out leaving the bomber at a slight nose down attitude.
This is also known as the B-52H's "levitation effect." They retain some world records for climb-to-altitude with a full load of fuel and ordinance.
I KNOW that I'm LUCKY living next to Barksdale AFB in Bossier City, LA, the primary "Home of the BUFF." Very interesting the high-pitched scream of the PW TF33 turbofans...which turns into a solid ROAR during climbout if heavily loaded for a mission as opposed to the daily touch-and-go practice. When loaded, that climbout roar is up to five mins!
Also, I might add...as impressive as the turbofans are on the H-Models, one should have heard the deafening roar of the J-57 turboJETS that the now-retired G-Models had with their water/methanol injection which provided additional thrust for the takeoff roll & climbout...it could be heard from 4 or 5 miles away, clear across the Red River in Shreveport, LA.
It's also an Air Force Reserve jet--not active duty. The crew chief box (looks like a fish on the forward part of the fuselage; active uses an outline of the state of Louisiana) and the "AFRC" on the tail give it away.
Awesome aircraft and video.

Hey, wow! A real aircraft; not a sim. I actually found an aircraft video on YT that isn't some boring FS video. Way to go.

BD
Barksdale AFB, Louisiana
2nd Bomb Wing
"BD" clearly seen at tail at the end of the video (6:30+)

Also the BD on the tail is the reserve unit, Barksdale's active duty Buffs have LA as the fin code.

You could also look at the squadron logo up at the forward end at the cockpit.

I was there.
It was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.
The planes were just awesome.
