  • I thought there were usually explosions during the 1812 Overture.

  • @Basserase I think the same thing......

  • Clever and brilliant, blowing up the musicians at these points creates a sensation of excitement and danger that otherwise could not be noticed in the original, I would go so far as to say that- PTING PTING PTING PTING *starts rolling on the floor*

  • Realy one of the best reproduction of the REALITY.

    so funny

  • Arranged by Michael Bay.

  • I don't get this clip, but I still like it! :D

  • One of my favorite classical pieces... reduced to a tawdry bit of amusement... I LOVE IT!!!

  • i come back after a year and look at this, they still need a lot more practice. that's it add more explosives to the mix and make it where they cant play a wrong note.

  • 11 people blew up

  • This is from the last episode of season 2. IIRC, the conductor blows up in the end.

That same episode has two of the more morbid sketches in any episode. The studio audience storms onto the set at the end of the last sketch.

  • useless tidbit: the pythons used so many detonations that they could only afford to film this once.

  • Who didn't like this video?!

  • @davrog490 the people who blew up! >:3

  • @greenremixv2 And those who would have blown up if the clip was longer. B)

  • Ah a classic

  • @RandomNonsens hey in which movie is this clip?

  • @oneminutewithprod This appears in one of the episodes of Monty Python's flying circus

  • @RandomNonsens thanx man, they are superb artists!

  • It does surprise me how those fellows do not seem to mind the explosions at all...

  • Moral of the Story: Never play the Blue Danube. Especially on the Space Rocket Launch Pad.

  • Just search for Monty Python's Flying Circus - Blue Danube

  • If u look closely u can see they r fake!! i envey the guy blowin them up!! that must be well tricky not 2 laugh!!

  • search for BOOM DANUBE FULL

  • it's hilarious!! but maybe it doesn't have the same meaning it had in that years..

  • I wonder if the Pythoners got the idea for this sketch after watching "2001: A Space Odyssey" - a film where the piece is quite prominent.

  • Way to cut off the ending.

  • I wish this would happen to Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber?

  • ...an der schönen explodierenden donau ;D

  • Basserase... this never happens in country music because they are too busy blowing up abortion clinics and their hands off with fireworks.

  • Too bad this never happens in country music.

  • @basserase If i could give that a thousand thumbs up, I would.

  • you got a point there

  • Classic Python. Nothing more to be said.

  • if they play a wrong note they blow up

  • They need some practice XD

  • I will never, ever, ever get tired of this.

  • Can you watch this without laughing? I sure as hell can't, but I'm going to try. LOL

  • Comment removed

  • That was so random my head exploded.

  • the best part is that they did this in 1 take

  • I love this sketch.

BTW, If you look closely, you can tell that they're all just mannequins.

  • yea

  • if u look all time on one musician, he makes the same moves

  • Hey Breen - i think you're wrong. They blew up some dud musicians.

    Quite right too....

  • It's better for comedic effect by having the conductor facing the camera, i guess it's to convey the idea that the conductor expects whats happening.

  • also, eye protection

  • Also, conductors sometimes do that so that the audience doesn't have to stare at his/her butt for the entire show.

  • How's he gonna blow 'em up with the detonator facing the camera? Watch his left hand the whole time... Although I liked "BritHumour's" answer too! lol

  • This was SO random, but it was just TOO classic! Those poor musicians LOL

  • Omg, that was really funny.

I wonder how the musician can play in the smoke.

  • Too dangerous.

  • Randomness at it's best xD

  • Deadly cadence

  • That is probably one of the funnies and most random things i've ever seen in my whole life :D

  • With apologies to Big Jim McBob and Billy Sol Hurok - they blow'd up real good.

  • I guessed it! The song is faster in the end, so more musicians get blown up!

  • those Explosions make the same noise as the ones in Blackadder goes Forth

  • *tries to stop laughing*

  • the end is missing!!! :(

  • No matter who you are, you've got to love Monty Python.

  • Unless of course, you are in an orchestra...

  • I'm certainly not joining an orchestra now!

  • explosions are pretty....

  • Monthy Python is funny.

  • wtf?

  • lol explosions!

  • Funny thing.

  • silly

  • monty python did something to do with soap in this episode. they ttested it on tables

one line i can remember is "lets put them in our washing machine to find out. as you can se table a is all broken and smashed..."

can someone tell me what that is please

  • Hey Dude. Its episode 26. Eric Idle is presenting a commercial for Fibro-Val (the washing powder).

  • ok thankyou

  • Good but I think it would have been better if the music lessened as the musicians did yup

  • Quite impressive, considering what they had to work with.

  • this is so funny they should call it the

    "BOOM" Danube!

  • you sir...are a genius

  • Good one! lol ;)

  • :)!

  • dios mio!

    que destrozo!

    they are the best

    GREAT!

  • This exploding Blue Danube act cost so much because of the explosives that Monty Python could only afford to do one take. Thankfully, it worked!

  • me encantan... son geniales...

  • This is an awesome example of harmonic rhythm in music theory.

  • I know where the end of the Exploding Blue Danube is. It is at the end of the Monty Pythons Hospital sketch.

  • There are quite a few hospital sketches...

  • the end is missing!!! :(((

  • hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, it remainds me one conductor I know, loooooooooooooooooooool , great, hihihihihiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii...

thank you for his FUN xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Oh, them poor men. hahahahahahahahaha. I can't hear this piece of music now, without hearing the explosions.

  • They're cardboard cutouts, that's whey they made them in black and white. This is probably one of my favorite sketches!!!

  • they all blow up on the down beat

  • good cover

  • hehehe, the musicians who blow up arent even moving.....

  • Actually, if you look carefully, most of them do move, probably by some automat device (check out their hands). This scene is amazing, one of MP's boldest when it comes to outright violence. Note how the conductor blows up the players. I'd like to see the end.

  • I think Salad Days well and truly tops it when it comes to violence though!

  • You're right. That's a bloody one...and there are many others with cut limbs etc. allthough the victims still seemed to live there. This blunt blasting away of(supposed) humans is rather violent but magnificently and funnily done with no close-ups.

  • Which version is it?

  • It really does need the end.

  • Wish I had that version :(

  • Well, it's better than nothing :D

  • That's awesome.

  • funny how the music sounds the same when half the musicians are dead. :P

  • :( sadly where I got it from, the end was cut off..
