  • Comparing our era of cinema to that of post war cinema is actually quite similar. Sure, our entertainment seems plagued with snappy action, fire, and sex, but cinema has always been full of that. Even going back to D.W Griffiths Great Train Robbery, it was snappy, and violent as well. I think most people have a problem with genre rather than our era of cinema, because quality movies are still being made. It's just hard to make something as great as a Sirk

  • I like this one so much more than Magnificent Obsession. Rock and Jane are even better the second time around, and the storyline is less fantastic. A great romantic film.

  • I agree! I don't even go to movies anymore, for one I don't like the filmmakers insulting me with sex scenes, foul language & graphic violence they think I have to have to be entertained. Well no thanks. And they're oh so mind numbing to watch, I leave the theater irritated, not entertained. WAY over stimulating, too many fast camera changes, shrieking loud soundtracks - they're big screen headache makers. Hollywood, try REAL writing, acting, directing and don't lean on CGI & all that crap.

  • Nothing compared to a Douglas Sirk movie. Today so long as there is a crash, boom, fireworks, or crass humor, or sex, it sells. Seems we as a society don't enjoy thinking anymore. And that goes right down to our entertainment. Or does it go up from it? Hmmm.

  • Jane, I know that your son's words seemed cruel and heartless. But he's right - you shouldn't marry Rock.

    You see, Jane...

    Rock is gay.

Yes, I know that's shocking, but it's true. I'm only telling you this out of concern, not to hurt you. But marrying Rock would only lead to heartache!

    Please, please listen to reason.

Rock can never love a woman in the way that she truly must be loved.

Someday, you'll thank me for this. Oh, maybe not now, but someday...someday you'll know I'm right.

  • Wonderful movie.
