Are you pressing CTRL SHIFT and C at the same time, and making sure that 'showheadlines' has no spaces between them, but that there's one between 'showheadlines' and 'off'? If you are, then I dunno what the problem is.

Press CTRL + SHIFT + C to bring up the cheat box, and then type in 'showheadlines off' (without the apostrophes of course)
