I like both korn and messhugga but only the old stuff by korn dub steps gay as shit but I don't nearly like korn as much In comparison just saying why do you care if people have a positive opinion on something you don't have one on or have a negative opinion on your the bitch here if you hate on someone's own personal thoughts.
@lolippi I believe the same is true for all pop music as well. Not necessarily a bad, nor good thing. We would have to listen to jazz fussion strictly though if we needed something that would constantly surprise us, i reckon. At the end of the day it's all about music & tastes.
Oh, and I think what the guy that posted this video meant by high quality, was the video imaging, because the video looks very clear, even on my iPhone, but man, the audio really sounds like crap and seems very quiet for some reason. If you go find the live version on here, you will see what I mean by comparing the two. The live version has way more bass to it and sounds so much heavier and better, it's actually pretty surprising, the live version sounds better than the studio version!
@ guitarboy1234,how does that part go again that u like? Lol, just kiddin. U know, I've heard a lot of ppl talk about how technical this song is, and how complicated it is to figure out the time signature, but I'm just not understanding I guess. It's pretty simple to me. It didnt take me but a few minutes of listening to it to figure out that they are using polyrhythms in a traditional 4/4 time signature.
Well, to actually explain it more accurately, they are combining a polyrhythm of 4/4 with
@Sambarre. I'm sorry but I got to disagree, Chaosphere and Catch 33 are better and have more of a sold sound than Obzen. Bleed and Dancers to a Discordant System are awesome songs but it's all about what the original sound and style was, songs like Rational Gaze, Spasm, Future Breed Machine, and another one of their fastest songs Corridor of Chameleons. These styles is what made the newer Meshuggah.
Awesome symbolism in this video - especially enjoyed the twisted madonna/anima figure - reminds me of The Cell a bit. Gives me chills when she cuts his "lifeline" or "strand of individuality" or however you want to read it. I can almost hear her saying: "You have been...repurposed " ::evil smile::
Lol why are people comparing Korn to Meshuggah? Totally Different. Its like comparing Black Label Society to Whitechapel. Get over it. You dig what you dig. If someone disagrees with you, fuck 'em. Its your choice what you like/listen to. If you want to listen to Justin Beiber, be my guest. But dont come to me saying that he is better than another artist just because YOU think so. Hey, he can be the best in your eyes, he can be your favorite, but that doesnt make him EVERYONE's favorite
People, i recommend you to stop fighting about Korn vs Meshuggah, we all know that Meshuggah piss over Korn over and over, so i suggest to just listen to the damn music and fuck off.
I'm always amazed @ how much time people spend arguing over which band kicks ass or which band blows. I like Korn and I like Meshuggah and I like them both for different reasons. I thought music is about personal expression not a competition. All muscians use the same chords/scales, drum rudiments etc. but it's what you do with those skills to set yourself apart and try to create something new or different. Maybe Haake is better than Silveria skill wise but I bet neither one gives a fuck
@MrMansonRocks different styles. korn actually has singing which takes talent meshuggah screams and i can do that. but meshuggahs musicians have awesome timing and speed. korn has been around way longer with a larger fan base. theres good things about each of those bands. you cant really judge you can like one more than other though.
@birinbirinbirin There are so many things wrong here I dont know where to start. Meshuggah formed BEFORE korn did. The size of a fan base is a stupid point to make because the number of units sold has no reflection on the quality of music in question. Nickelback? Creed? They have "larger fan bases" too... And your comment about meshuggahs vocals is laughable. Its you whose not qualified to judge the merits of meshuggah and korn, not me or any other real music fan.
You guys can argue all you want about Korn Vs. Meshugga but I think Korn makes better music videos and Meshuggah knows their way around 7 strings. Yes, even if they sometimes forget that there are more than just 2 strings to masturbate on their guitar.
@birinbirinbirin Sorry to burst your bubble but Meshuggah has been around since 1987 and korn since 1993. The way I judge wich one is better is to imagine if one could play the other's music. Singing - I'll give ya korn on that one- screaming No!..... everthing else I mean everything....Meshuggah burries them hands down ...no problem. Haake alone kills most if not all the drummers I have ever heard.
@birinbirinbirin No jazz and classical are two differnent musical types that have extremely different criteria and almost no shared history. Korn and Meshuggah are two contemperary metal bands that took inspiration from thrash and death metal and were among the first bands to make use of the low range found on a seven string guitar. They are both also two of the first noted bands to move away from the standard "four on the floor" timing. Your argument doesnt make any sense to me.
@thejigsawmurdersyou Hey man, I kind of hate to be that guy, but the inner music nerd in me has to point this out. While Jazz and Classical are two different styles of music like you said, their history is very much interwoven. Jazz music originated from the use of the Pentatonic scale (5-tone scale) which is based on the Natural Minor scale (Aeolian mode). Both the Pentatonic and Natural Minor scale were very prevalent in Classical music.
@Bsad13 I realised after i posted those comments that i was being THAT guy too. A lot of music is based within the penatonic scale. My argument was that difference is down to instrumentation, arrangement, structure, the use of "blues notes" and african influence, the tones used, the advent of improvisation, the social influence etc. etc. what i was really getting at was that saying korn and meshuggah are as different as jazz and classical was a gross exageration.
What I like about the ObZen album, including this song, is that it is the first Meshuggah album that is straightforward enough to headbang to just about every song without being compromising in their technique. It is far less obtuse than Catch 33, but it is by no means a sellout.
One of the best songs ever by my favorite band. This song stands head and shoulders above the rest on ObZen. The musicianship is razor sharp and rock solid. And the best part of the song is the riff that comes right after this video clip ends. Is there a band in existence today that can hold a candle to the brilliance that is Meshuggah? They are the H.R. Giger of metal.
I saw these guys live not too long ago and was absolutely BLOWN AWAY! Their live playing is every bit as crisp as their studio work. If you ever get the chance to see them, DO IT.
Nothing to do with meshuggah but, I have a general dislike of over produced expensive music videos, there's a tacky-ness to them. I prefer it when the band are just playing on a set.
There is no point in making a video if its just the band pretending to play, may as well just be clips of live shows then. If you're gonna make a "music-video," it should be an actual video, separate and apart from the band just pretending to play. Just my opinion.
