@Jarren202 Honestly, who cares besides you? Everyone is influenced, stimulated and motivated by everyone else. In addition, so much of this genre of music was made using the same type of equipment (I.E.-synthesizers, drum machines, Rolands, Ensoniques, etc.) If the music sounds good and it moves you in some way, ultimately that was the goal. Dissect anything and you will find similarities. I love DM, Camouflage, NIN, DAF+ the lot of them. Do something else w/your time besides gripe...truly.
"What can we say, what can we do.." There are similarities with Kraftwerk and Depeche Mode.. But the most important thing is that melancholic sound and I think those two mentioned bands are their idols.
Their videos had limited run on MTV (since hip hop was taking off at the time)
I saw one of their vids and went out and got "Voices and Images" and really enjoyed it. It didnt take to my friends but I didnt care, I run with what I like.
@Jarren202 I know DM was such a great influence in the synth music of that decade, but I don't think this is an intentional rip from their song. Still, both are great bands :)
I don't agree at all, Camouflage from the start always has it's distinctive sound. I can agree that may be at very slight influence from DM, but only a slight one. If we see the present Camouflage is one of the few synth pop bands that keep the sound of the 80's, so that's why I like Camouflage. And yes 'New Dress it's one of the great songs of DM
@Jarren202 but Depeche Mode ripped off DAF, and DAF ripped of Karftwerk and Trobbing Ristle, and Kraftwert ripped off Karltein Stockhausen, and Stockhausen ripped off the french/german electronic pioners.... man no one is original, but in their own way they can be autentich.
@das81 The bands you mention may certainly have been influenced by earlier acts, but that's not what I'm talking about.
I fully acknowledge that, for instance, Depeche Mode started using synthesizers after hearing Kraftwerk etc. But you'd be hard pushed to hear a Depeche Mode song that sounds like a Kraftwerk song.
What I was referring to was the act of plagarism. By which, I am suggesting that this song (Camouflage - Neighbours) TOTALLY steals from Depeche Mode's "New Dress".
@das81 Well true, I might have made a case of influence, try to compare get the balance right by DM and Love at first sight by DAF, they are almost identical.
But hey, even TRen Reznor made SIn by stealing ministry the isle of man, and ministry took the song just fascination by Cabaret Voltaire.
@evad520 The fact that his nick is Mazdak should tell you something about how confused the poor child is. Mazdak was corrupt dirty minded man who wanted to exercise early Communism in Persia some 1600 years ago, and got the just punishment of being skinned and hung for crimes against a nation and endangering an existing stable structure. Now this pathetic fool comes here and from the same confused and misguidedness is spitting crap out of his ignorant totally lost mind. He sees night as day.
Me gusta mucho Camoufalge.

Great band, great song. I don't think people should compare them with DM. I'm fan of both bands and they are pretty different
CharlieSmith88 1 year ago
@CharlieSmith88 It's a bit difficult NOT to compare them to Depeche Mode when songs like this simply rip off DM's "New Dress".

@CharlieSmith88 Yes I agree, both are great bands. I just feel Camouflage would be much less of a band if it wasn't for DM's influence.
Take another listen to New Dress from DM's Black Celebration album then listen again to this song.
I think it's pretty intentional. Hero worship perhaps!

@Jarren202 Look I love both bands, but come on.
Depeche mode even comited plagiarism by ripping off alle gegen alle by daf to make you have to work hard.
Every body steal each other.
das81 7 months ago
@das81 I wouldn't go that far. Sure, the style of singing is similar but Work Hard had totally different melody.
Actually, you've just demonstrated what I was talking about: influence vs. plagarism.
Jarren202 7 months ago
@Jarren202 Ok, try to compare DAF's Liebe Auf Den Ersten Blick with DM "get the balance right".
I can see plagiarism there, the melodies are the almost the same.

They definitely belongs to the GREAT 80´s wave time. A time music counts - as well as great videos.
Links to Gary Numan? - not really unless you see Gary as godfather of all wave music ;->>
