With comedy, is anything lost in translation? You can translate the words but the meaning, nuances, subtleties? With subtitles I can watch 'Pan's Labyrinth' and understand what is said and what is happening, but I still feel I'm missing something. They are just stark words on a screen, quite removed from their actual meaning. With such an abstract thing as comedy and humour, I'd imagine the effect is even more pronounced.
