Dying Plastic R/C parts with Rit Dye. Video 1 of 2

I tried this on my Tamiya Sand Scorcher wheels and it didn't work. I used Rit dye and just ran off the parts!

@outside4areacleaning - I wanted to dye tuning keys for a classical guitar. My first attempt was also a fail. I tried immediately afterwards with fresh water and more Rit Dye (3/4 of the bag). The water was close to a boil and then I kept it very hot when I stirred the dye into it. I kept the tuning keys submerged for an hour. They're now jet black. I don't know how he pulled it off in 2 minutes.

@grimmbx ........you can as long as its a darker color....example yellow can dye like blue red black but black cant be dyed yellow or red

Yep I got it now, its a great dye the black dye doesnt show up dark purple like I thought it would. Shame its not easy to get in UK.

how durable is the dye on say an xbox 360 controller...and if you dye something that ur hands will always be on is that safe? will the color come off on ur hands?

no it penitrates the plastic and will not come off on your hands.. some plastic is hard to dye tho.. make sure you do a test piece

terrible...the dye doesn't penetrate deep enough so basically it gave me a slightly gray controller, so it just looked like my controller was dirty.

yes you use it for xbox 360 but dont leave it in to long take it out every minute and cool it with cold running water
