nice, i got a 5.3 2000 silverado, but im runnin true dual straight, 2.5 inch piping, (i got cats) with 5.5inch tips texas style, i wanna take cats off of mine but i dont have money to keep cuttin em nd weldin em back for inspection here in NC but i like the sound man.
this sound sick i have a 94' GMC Z71 with super 44's ive had the truck for a little while now i will put a video up when i get the cat removed an weld up the holes (previous shitty job by muffler man) haha i have other videos too ! check em out
@jonfournier7 If you knew anything about a vortec engine...it takes alot of abuse to kill them, this cold rev in the morning didnt even do a dent in it,lay off the guy you honda faggot.
@CHEVROLETPOWER89 i have a 2005 sierra with a 5.3 vortec and a 96 f350 with 7.3l powerstroke, both are tough engines, but i dont see the need to purposely abuse them
@jmentado10 But where do you live? Remember taking the cats off will set the CEL and she won't pass testing/inspections. Here in SC, we don't have that mess and my Blazer's tuned to run w/o cats.
god damn it i think ive hit this replay button a 1000 times i love the way this sounds it sounds exactly way my truck use too until i got pulled over all the time now its got glasspacks
hey could you please respond to me asap.. i bought a chevy k1500 93 z71 and the guy did thid just removed the cats and now it runs super rich and almost a thick moist for exsost, and i was thinking it is the o2 sensor, if thats what you think it is is there a way to over ride it?
@kdwedge243 The o2 sensor behind the cats has no effect on air/fuel mixture, only catalyst efficiency. First, how do you know it's running rich? Also, are there any codes; and are there any exhaust leaks?
@cnocher02 well for one you can smell it, and its a misty moist fog comming from the pipes, no leaks at all, was welded very well im just confused tho you think it may be the throtal body? i replaced the jets a few month back im just not sure...
@kdwedge243 If its TBI, im not real familiar with it. If you do replace any electronic part (spark plug, ignition coil, o2 sensor) use only ACDelco period. Nearly any other brand will not work correctly.
i got a 2002 5.3 straight piped with cats. aint near aas loud as yours. did just takin the cats off make that much of a difference? and do you have straights all the way back or a y pipe or anytrhin
@chevydude4 Yeah, sound wise. I wouldnt do it, just get true duals and keep the stock cats. This truck has true duals and no cats; one pipe for each manifold straight back, no mufflers or anything
@cnocher02 yeah i would agree but i just want it louod i dont care about soundin good right now. i just did the true duals all the way back today with 2/25 pipe still with cats. no cats didnt screw with your engine at all did it? by the way nice truck mine looks just like yours
does your exhaust exit at 45 or 90 degrees? i like the way it looks in the back and im gettin true duals and i want it to exit like that sort of in between 45 and 90
dude i think your truck sounds sick.... i got my cats off my 98 chevy its straight nasty. can be heard from miles away man. i love for people to call in complaints
That sounds terrible, should of left the cats on, I have a 97' Chevy K1500 with true dual straight pipes, 2.5 to 18x3.25 stainless tips and it sounds a lot deeper with the cats on. And my 96' Chevy K1500 has duals dumped under cab with cats on yet, and it sounds better than this.
However I will be taking the cats off the 96 when the flowmaster 10s arrive.
@cnocher02 I was being nice, I meant to say that truck sounds like complete shit, and you failed at turning heads, Id rather a hear a vehicle with open headers that actually needs them, not some stock 5.3 that you probably put a "K&N Air filter" in and call a mild 5.3 with dual straights. Get a large duration cam and different heads/intake/bore, then you can run that set up biff.
@Ry4nH4m1ll How about, before trolling others' videos and bashing trucks that aren't even theirs, use what tiny piece of brain you have and realize that maybe someone else has preferences that differ from yours. In terms you can understand: it's not my truck, but thanks for your input that literally nobody else will even care to read. I'm entertained that you think your trucks are the shit, and that everything else is trash. Your advice means nothing to me, and it's time you realize that.
@Ry4nH4m1ll im glad your sounds like a pos cuz when i pass u it makes my truck sound and look a lot better and it is not straight pipes if u have cats on it buddy
well, im going to take the acts off my 2000. and i just bought pipe and clamps...just cut the cats off and clamp the pipe on..or is there a better way to do it..i know i cant weld all the way around the pipe....please explain what you think the best way to do this would be..
@97CheveroletCJP I think welding is better, no leaks, but I've never seen a clamped exhaust. Might work? Have it welded, it shouldn't be that much. Where do you live? Here in SC it aint expensive
Yea we ain't got no inspections down here. If I do it I'll just make sure to keep off the gas when I'm near cops and try not to piss em off like I did the last one
woops wrong button. Meant to say your buddies truck sounds mean as hell. I got a 2000 gmc that I got a true dual exhaust with 2 12" glasspacks that I busted to make them louder. I've been thinkin bout takin the cats off. Do u think I should cut them off and put in tubing or cut them off, gut them out, and stick em back on. My reason for that is if the polo looks under my truck to see if I got cats he will see them there but not know I gutted them out.
hey man you got a truck like mine, and i wont to take my cats off, but i heard that it fucks with the 02 sensors. How did you get around this? did taking the cats off decrease your mpg?
@XxClemsonTigersXx It doesn't fuck with the sensors, and it wont hurt the truck. The Service Engine light is always on, but oh well. MPG went down a tad, but the truck feels less restricted. Do it
@cnocher02 my chevy came with a stock exhaust that was brand new. that was the owners selling point....i told him it was a shame cuz it was getting cut off as soon as i got it home...check out my channel i have a loud ass chevy too.. the video is not bad i need to do a different one..i think the wind from the exhaust distorted the video pretty bad...anyway you have a very nice truck!
@Olneyandrewl01 Thanks so much, it's actually a friend's though. I had no cats and 40 series on my Blazer and loved it. Your Z sounds great BTW, and I love the single cab short bed trucks
