  • me too plz help carts are clean but notin comes on

  • Have the same problem which is really surprising considering my carts are in the original boxes and plastic bags and the console was used lightly (babied) and always stored in a plastic storage bag to keep it dust free after playing it. Makes me wonder about Nintendo product quality! Took it apart yesterday ... check the voltages and for cold solder points on the display socket ... none ... maybe it's a bad cap but I haven't a clue how to read these things (not a standard electrolytic cap)!

  • @RCTruckPulling Waiting on a working N64 I bought so I can compare the caps ESR values on a working unit to the caps on the non-working board! If that doesn't point to any problems then I'm at a loose as to what the problem may be!

  • god damn maplestory music, i thought i escaped forever but i guess not

  • Clean the game!

  • So fucking MapleStory music lol xD

  • that's not a rf it's a composite only 1 channel works it's called video or input other wise go to ifixit they have a tutorial

  • Happened to me. But I fixed in a weird way... I put the tv cords under the console. It might not work the first time but keep monkeying with it.

  • change 1 to turn on the tv xD

  • 1. You must have a game in it

2.New tv s might not pick the signal so you might need something in the middle (by this i mean you may need to hook your nintendo 64 up something eles first like a dvd player or something the connect the dvd player up to the tv) that should work.

3.don't put the game too far into the console make sure it's in so the console can read the game but if the disk is too far in the N64 might not read the game

  • I had the same problem. I fixed it by cleaning the consol and games with rubbing alcohol. I cleaned the games and console.

Plugged it in and put my TV on AV1. The games work fine :)

Oh and by the way the problem also might be your AV cable going from the N64 to the TV. Remember the N64 hasn't got a start menu so if you are turning it on without a game in, there will just be a blank screen.

    I hope I helped.

  • Turn on your tv

  • @crazycow148 this!

  • @crazycow148 it is on dumbass

  • @crazycow148 Pretty sure his tv is on........

  • Mine is the same way!!!!!! it turns on, plugs in and makes the buzzing noise but nothing shows on the screen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LMFAO!thats the game that wont work for me! :D

  • mines have same problem Truro fix doesnt :(

    please help

  • hav u tried pushing input button on ur tv

  • I just got a used N64 from my friend. I think I have everything plugged in correctly, but I can't figure out how to go from there. When I just turn the system on with a game inserted, nothing happens. is there a certain channel I have to turn my tv or something like that? I really haven't ever had a game system that connects to the tv, so I don't know. Any help would be appreciated

  • I NEED HELP TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TELL ME HOW TO DO IT

  • this happend to me and i fixed it by un pluging the 64 pluging it back in an removed the game and put it back in and made shure it was in the slot firmly.

  • I have the same exact problem with mines.....i need some help also...

  • u have to go to ch 3 or 4 if u dont have the 3 plug thing

  • OMG the alcohol worked thanks, Happy kids :)

  • i have the same problem and so now how do i fix it

  • I have the same problem with my SNES :(

  • Hey i think i got it, if it makes a flicker in the screen but doesnt start, just clean your game cartdridge, if it doesnt flicker, and its on, idk

  • maplestory music, SUBSCIbEDDD <3

  • @RunescapeRuShClan So it's Maplestory?

What's the name of the song?

  • @cutemimi25 not shur

  • @RunescapeRuShClan Oh I thought you knew.

But do you remember what video it was titled?

  • @cutemimi25 huh?

  • @RunescapeRuShClan Do you know what the video you remember hearing this song?

  • @cutemimi25 no, i hear it on real maplestory no video

  • It could be that your cartridges are dirty. If my carts have dirt in them the same thing happens. I get the red light but nothing on the TV. Try blowing them off or cleaning the inside with a Q-tip slightly dampened with rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't work then I would take the console and get it refurbished. Hope that helps!

  • @zeppelin1996 i had the same problem as the guy in the video and...your solution workss!!! awesome thanks

  • @AppleTechChannel Glad I could help!

  • @AppleTechChannel same problem how do i fix it

  • @steezy4jeremy Blow awith your mouth into the cartridge...it's the cartridge not the system.

  • @AppleTechChannel my screen is not displaying any images though

  • @zeppelin1996 THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @zeppelin1996 thank you sooooooooo much, im having the same problem and i was about to spend $60 on a new N64, i tried your trick and it worked! Thanks again

  • @T3hBFG No problem. Glad I could help.

  • @zeppelin1996 just letting you know im going to masterbate over you tonight

  • I just got an n64 but then this same thing happened to me I don't know if it is the console or the av cables because that red light does turn on for me. :(

  • ur expansion or jumper pack is fried like mine

  • suicide

  • mine makes a buzzing sound

  • @kiawrestler24 Probably AC adapter I have 3 but only 2 N64's I'm planning on getting a 3rd N64 Ice Blue or some other color cause I already have a black one and a Jungle Green one.

  • Dude its terrible to blow in it. It loosens the contacts and ruins the system. It's most likely the games. Mine was doing that today too, all you need to do is take some rubbing alcohol on a q tip and wipe the contacts on the game cartridge. It sounds sketchy, but it works. Try it on a shitty game first if you don't trust me. All of my games, even the ones I thought were broken, wirk like new

  • i have a weird red light too

  • try unhooking there red AV cable and just have white and yellow that worked for mine

  • then in ur n64 something is out of place or fried

if u want a new 1 go to microplay or gamestop

  • Dude u fuckin rock my shit is 13 years old an didnt work now it works brand spankin new

  • It's your AV cables. You can get them used at a used game store, or the great escape if you have those around you. I had the same problem.

  • Blow in under game pak so working it

  • AV cable is disconnected or game pak is not reading.

  • dude thats what happends with mine all you do is pull the game out then blow in the bottem of the game and the slot were the game goes in. if that doesent work then pull out the plugs and blow in them. Your n64 should work if not then sorry

  • @PokemonEddie Thanks man you relay help me :D now i can play zelda :D

  • @Applemapper no problem i just like to help people out man. glad it works

  • @PokemonEddie bro wdf after like 10 years later i read your comment i was like ummm let me try and it work im like a little kid again thanks it freezes up sometimes but it does work

  • It might be your tv it has to be on channel 003 or video 1 or just go to sorse on your tv or remot

  • i think your missing a pin thing where you put the cartradge you can tell when theirs a gap but you can go to playntrade and fix it

  • i have the same problem but it doesn't work with half the games i have and the n64 is my first system :(

  • take out the game and blow under it, may just have gotten some dust, it takes me like 5-6 tries before it boots up

  • I am 9 :D

  • Alright listen the problem is more than likely the game itself, do any of the other games work? If so I don't know what to tell you but if you take thats right WINDEX and dampen a cotton swab with it and rub it against the connectors it should work. Here's a video to help watch?v=uhSbm8mRRRI Its a youtube video it wont let me put a link for some reason, its really long but really detailed and quite helpful.

  • Do any other games work? My paper mario does that but i can play other games fine.. might just be the game.. try cleaning it.

  • this happend to meeee whyyyy i had this game like forevvvver nooooo some1 hellllppp

  • I had the same problem. Just blow into it. The funny thing is that when i did earlier it didnt work, but when i tried again it did.

  • Im afraid it may be your N64's day

  • Try remplace the r-c-a cable

  • @backwoodsmods no >:( dont do that

  • wath another vid and see how to fix it duh XO

  • I got that Problem now :((

  • My just happened today, but the red isn't working and everything is plugged in. :'(

  • I had the same problem, only when mine died, i was using a gameshark with SM64, I put the cart in, turned it on, got to the GS menu, When i went to start the game, it popped, i seen a flash of light come out the back, it does turn on, however, it doesn't want to play the cartridge!!!!!!!, All i can say is get a system without cables, controllers, etc off eBay, they sell pretty cheap. its what I had to do!

  • dude i just fixed mine blow in to the game cartrige and were it go's in then put the game in and it should workbecause i had the same problem

  • blow up the cartridge

  • Prolly just dirt contacts man: Get some rubbing alcohol and some clean toilet paper or Q-Tip and vigorously rub the inside of the game cartridge w/ the alcohol dipped utensil of choice; seriously I can shake my game carts back and forth while running now and they NEVER even SLIGHTLY bug out.

  • try cleaning your jumper/expansionpack or try with a different one, if it still doesn't work try cleaning the gamecart and connector, if it then still don't work check your a/v cable for any cracks or breaks and replace it with a new one if necessary

one of these options should do the trick

    good luck

  • dude same thing is happening to me, I think that you ought to jiggle the cartrage while it's in and turned on push forward if needed, if that doesn't work take game out, blow cartrage and insert and pull back if needed. I can't guarantee that'll work but thats your best option

  • What's the music that's playing?

  • ya, jus keep blowing the game cartridge and maybe hitting it a little against your lap, do that for a while, itll work, trust me, i always do that

  • i have the solution your consoles cartridge connector is dirty clean it and you should be fine

  • ;( i feel bad, but you need to take that to a local gaming store man

  • blow on it that works for all of them

  • check if the jumper pack is loose. if that doesnt work clean the carts and the cart reader with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol

  • did you shake the game and did you hear something moving around in there if so then taht means its broken and you will have to buy a new one

  • Try Opening the cartridge up and blowing into it, it worked for me .

  • 2 things I've seen very often when it comes to n64s that cause this problem. The jumper or expansion pack is loose or faulty or the power switch is loose. In the case of the last used n64 I got (about 2 months ago) I had to take it apart and fix the power switch. The person I gave it to tells me every once in a while they have to take it apart again and readjust the switch. I only put one screw back into the deep screw well and it holds it together fine so that isn't a big deal.

  • This seems different than a broken nintendo entertaiment system!

  • the yellow and white jacks are the wrong spot.switch them

  • I bought a N64 2nd hand. wasnt used in about 3 years. works great.

  • is it making a buzzing sound

  • @indierules17 no its not

  • @Bboyuta omg man, i have same problem but not same game, i have Banjo Tooie its my best game on nitendo 64, and i need some help ;/

  • lol is the tv on?

  • Buy a new one....

  • Take a Q-Tip put some Alchol on it.Rub it against an N64 game and then dry it.Next Put it into the game and it should work.

  • how u tried geting a new av out cord or just shimy the cartrige in till it hits the bottom thats what i do

  • the same thing happens with me the game is just to dirty i play oot and it dirty and wont read it then i play rainbow 6 and its in ok condition and it works hope i helped man

  • i know i know you need a better connection table if you have a game cube its connection cable will do just fine

  • This has happened to me before but have you ever considered that the problem was the game carts and not the actual system. When i tried to play n64 one day nothing would come up on the screen and i thought it was broken, then i tried all of my games and only some worked. Your games might be dirty so i would recommend cleaning them, don't blow because while this seems like a good fix it only lasts a little bit.

  • This is what mine is doing now too!

  • @FunnyDeeter It's because the connectors within the game cartridge has built up dirt and dust. Try getting a baby wipe or a q-tip with alcohol and rub it against the connectors, then try to put it back in the slot gently and turn on.. It may take you a few (or several) times of pulling the game out and putting it back in before it turns on.

  • @Bryantsreeves Thanks for your comment. I had tried cleaning out the connectors and cartridges externally with denatured alcohol and cotton swabs but had no luck. I was able to order the proper bit off Ebay (for about $7 including s&h) to open the entire system and thoroughly clean the inside as well. Now it works like a charm! The problem was that it was dirty, you're correct. =D

  • @FunnyDeeter np :)

  • the red light doesnt even come on mine. is it done for?

  • You should hear a clicking sorta sound if your on the right channel if you can hear it on any its the tv. If you do hear it, its most likely the games fault. Clean the inside of the game with rubbing alcohol and a cue-tip.

  • send it in to nintendo they still will fix it. but it may cost some cash. they will fix it

  • call nintendo 18002553700 and if that dosent work then i dont know.

  • Try Screwing with the Big power block in the back of the system, if the screen flickers when you mess with it then you just have to find the perfect spot where the power reaches the system

  • Are there any places where I can get a new cartridge inside the nintendo? Oh please cos I think it is old and some of it fell out (I mean the little orange bars that make up the cartridge) cos my games seem to be lagging and I think that is the problem?

I just hope there are places where I can buy cartridges :/

  • i have the same problem as you

  • i have the same problem

  • im pretty sure its the cables to the tv.

  • exactly whats happening to me!!!

  • yeah something like that happened to mine. a while a go it was working perfectly, then it got worse. it seemed like the tv connect wire needed to be in a specific place because i had to move the console around randomly until something showed up on the screen and then i had to prop up the console in that position. then it got worse and worse and eventually stopped working. i think what i need to do is to get a new tv connect wire.

  • the reason why it does not work because its to old so if i was you i will buy a new one becuse it is not going work

  • i have the same problem fuck

  • no one i know can turn on my system but me... maybe you have the same problem...... -make sure its on video -blow the game connectors and receivers in the slot -shove the game in -put your finger on the power switch -push down with force then slide it into the on position(your tv may show a few lines flash) - if you see lines and it doesn't start, try again :D last thoughts #is it plugged in? # have you tried without the expansion pack? # but a used on off kijiji or something for 20$?
  • I have one you can have. it's sitting in My car as we speak.

  • dude, you have just entered my world! i could use this!

    HELP!!!!

  • have the same thing happened to me to but i still cant get my 64 to work too >.>

  • its the red blink of death !!!

  • have you tried just blowing in the cartridge, or cleaning it. but it could be the rgb cable, have you got a spare you could try, or maye an rf cable.

  • i have the same problem

  • search for the av or ext channel i works on that channel

  • try taking out the memory expansion. also happend to me but not anymore!

  • I found out that on some games if your memory card is dirty it will not let the game work if plugged in. My killer instinct and diddy kong racing did it.

  • idiot the yellow and white rca's are backards

yes i know it s spelled wrong

  • mine did the same thing so i took it apart and cleaned it and all my games and it fixed i was so happy

  • same thing with mine

  • I think I have found the solution. I keep looking up N64 problems and they all seem to have the same situation coming up. The same has happened to me. What you need to do is turn on the game and push the button ALL THE WAY. Theres like a tiny little space that needs to be pushed into before it can work. Try that and see if it works. Remember, push the power button ALL THE WAY.

  • Ive had my 64 since the day it came out no lie

  • Get a new out put cord

  • um get a vacc and were u put the cart in u suck the sh*t out then u clean the carts

  • Hey bud have u checked that the av cable work's, and are the carterage pins clean. P.S. If u need to clean the pins do not use rubbing alcohol. It will ruin the machine over time

  • I have the same problem when I switch the cartridge on my Nintendo 64. All I do is let the Nintendo 64 sit for a while (when its off) then re-plug all your wires then clean your cartridge with a Q-tip and some alcohol and see if it works :)

  • well ima gessin ur av port or jax are broke.that sucks for i feel so bad for u mine works and i got it in 97 but it freezes all the time can't play mario kart 64 perfect dark,or zelda OoT very well luckly i got OoT on my Wii and i bought the Perfect Dark Remake for 360 along with banjo kazooie and banjo tooie.

  • Seems like you're having the same problem I've been having with my Pokemon Stadium 2 cartridge.

The pins aren't connecting well enough.

  • omg the same thing happened to mine mine was one of the first systems i got if you find out how to fix it will you please message me?

  • dude just blow into the like HEAPS and keep trying it mine does the exact same thing and even if it takes a while it should work eventually

  • you're lucky the light on your nintendo 64 even opens!!

  • let run jurk

  • It's either your game cartridge is dirty, you must've plugged in the connections wrong to your TV, or, it might be a bad A/V cable. If it's a bad cartridge, go to: /watch?v=oRrNPN4f09U if it's a wrong connection, consult yor TV manual, or if it's a bad A/V cable, go to GameStop, EB Games, or wherever, like eBay, and buy a new/used A/V cable.

  • dude my n64 never shut itself off and the light are supposed to be green

  • i have this problem, im bringing it to play n trade.

  • maybe turn on yor tv

  • it is turned on. See where it says "AUX" (the to right)

  • Have you tried a differend AV cord, an RF maybe. Different TV, different games?

  • i have the same exact problem does it depend on what kind of tv you have

  • my n64 works but i can only play it for a while and then it resets itself. does anyone know how to fix this? i really want to beat majoras mask

  • yea i use to have the same problem i figured out i was using a third part expansion pack which was the problem luckily my friend gave me his expansion pack which was made by nintendo and i never had a problem since

  • @Marioiswicked clean the inside of your n64, it's probably running hot when it resets as a result of dust on the heatsink

    goodluck

  • @nintendodoterk yeah thats probably what it is because i just blew some dust out through the vents and it worked pretty good, or i just didnt play it long enough for it to reset idk but yeah i need to take it apart and clean it

  • @Marioiswicked

    This happends to me too=(

  • @Grm0xlr2xD could you do me a favor and tell me how to fix it if you find out?

  • @Marioiswicked

    Yes=D

If you find first tell me=D

  • @Grm0xlr2xD i will

  • @Marioiswicked

    Yes sure=D

If you find it first tell me=D

  • Hello I must say I found how fix it, well what worked with mine

same as you I tried everything but it just would turn on and no picture all connections correct and nothing so i looked on the internet and did the following.

1 clean the game cartrige with alcohol and Q tip

allso clean the the game consule entrence to the cartrige

make sure all connections are correct and then just turn on and off the system as many times as possible and quickly and you will see the picture. message me.

  • @createwithgdi well if you can type it why don't you show us by making us a vidoe huh? i mean becouse when i look at the backside of a n64 gamepak it says *clearly* :

    - DO NOT TURN THE POWER SWITCH ON AND OFF RAPIDLY

  • mate turn the tv on

  • @lolrofl95 hahahahahaha hilarious!

  • Comment removed

  • @lolrofl95 it is, smartass. cant u c AUX in the corner of the screen sticking out like a soar thumb?

  • mine just doesnt switch on...

  • i know how to fix it

  • sometimes if you dont put it in all the way it works you just have to mess with it

  • try adjusting the memory expansion

  • same wit me it turns on and the video game screen wont come on

  • try cleaning the av out port or clean the cart slot or clean expansion port, but if none of this works look in to the cart slot some to the pins might need to be bent back out.

  • he too it happend to me
