@Objection64 even though I'm replying to a 6 month old comment; the main reason is because a lot of the ST players from Japan were born and bred on arcade play, whereas the console era took over once most of the non-West Coast ST players started cropping up. I believe that our SF scene was far more skilled during CE era thanks to people like Tomo, Schaefer and Watson being raised on arcade cabinets instead of playing console versions of SF games like later generations have been forced to.
