I looked all over the internet & home improvement stores in town for that tube caulking for the dreads and could not find any, found out it's called backer rod and was able to find it at Lowes Home Improvement. Thanks for the helpful tips

@danatnotts yeah I found it a few months ago, it only came in gray so I had to paint them in flat black Plasti-Dip and they look spectacular on my Rubies Deluxe mod

@lflank hey do you think if i buffed up the muscle suit ith liquid latex and cotton and did a pattern instead of taking a sharpie and doing random dots all over and spray painted it and used a fake rotating security camera and build it up to look more predator should cannon like horrible at spray painting water guns and nerf guns so no way am i spray painting the camera so I'm just gonna spray paint pvc pipes and cardboard also plastic parts? also I'm not good at making led lights- next comment

Way better than the first. like the led cannon. the new gloves and the groin flaps out of car mat are great. props to ya! i think the only thing that could make your costume a bit better is a better bio mask. i made mine out of cardboard using a youtube video its pretty decent, took a few days though its worth it try it.the guys name is rockmanb. plus are you a member of the hunters lair predator blog site?

@jgantner1 I didn't use any liquid latex because I live in Florida and didn't want to seal in all that heat---heat stroke is no fun at all. I just painted the cloth skin instead.

@lflank Okay i really like you're stuff and i think that rubber car mats are a bit too floppy and don't look all that noce but i really like it I could not afford any so I'm just goning to take someold shoes and modify then with newspaper,masking tape, and plaster then spray paint then I'm goning to make my owwn mask from plaster cardboard and sculpy baking clay stuff and hot glue and asssorrted spray paint colors

I don't have a link, but if you Google for "backer rod" it will show up. They come in different widths so you can get thicker if you want. Some people I know used thicker ones at the back of the head and thinner ones towards the front.

@hebrideanwolfdogs the best way to make dreads is buy some backer rod from ebay its £5 for 10 metres and looks and moves like real dreads when painted with liquid latex

for the skin what kind of paint do you suggest? acrylic? spray paint? or airbrush(ugggh)

I used spray paint and it worked just fine. Some other people I know coated the cloth skin with a layer of liquid latex and then used an airbrush to paint it, but since I live in Florida I needed the skin to be able to breathe so I wouldn't die of heat stroke.

got a question. about how long are each of the dreads (Backer rod) you installed? also how many "dreads" do you have installed on the mask? i can get a 20 foot roll of 5/8 at the store. would that be enough? or should i get 2 rolls.

@M4A1DUDE They are all different lengths--I cut them so they'd all hang to just below the shoulder.

I think there are around 40 pieces altogether, and I used two rolls.

how did you get your dreads to fall right? mine where in a roll when bought and curl up when installed. also got to get the 1/2" pvc tomorrow to.

@M4A1DUDE The weight of the PVC "beads", once you put them on, will pull the dreads straight so they hang right.

They're called "caulking tube", or sometimes "backer rod"---it;s foam stuff that's used to seal cracks in walls. If you can find black caulking tube at Home Depot, it's about seven bucks. Most of the time, though, Home Depot only has gray, so I got my black online at Amazon--it was around $15 including the shipping.

No, I used a full mask this time. I packed it with foam padding till it fit (the mask itself is very large). You can't really see the back part of the mask because the dreadlocks cover it and hide it. The bad part of using the whole mask, though, is that it gets really really hot in there while wearing it.

The suit itself is a light tan color (I managed to find a muscleman halloween costume, a pair of stretchy leotards, and a pair of cotton gloves, that were all the same shade of tan). I spray-painted the entire skin with darker brown patches, a few black spraypaint patches, and then used fabric paint for the black spots.

Its good but if I were you I'd take a little time to just re-adjust the lower front armour part. Also maybe dirty all the armour slighty. By that I mean try not to make it look so shiny. In the films his armour is metal but its not glossy or shiny. Just my opinion
