Lol - if you had £5000 at the time, you could have built this lighthouse...these days, if you were an 'MP', and had £5000 you could barely build a duck island...
This would appear to be a few years old. The big 500w lamp was replaced with a smaller 1kw metal halide lamp a few years ago. The heat from the big bulb was immense. A trip to the island is well worth it.

There are many lighthouses open to the public! Not only trinity house lighthouses in england, but also some in ireland.
look it up, its deffinately worth visiting atleast one lighthouse, not one is the same as another.
