I think it is funny how this admins has to back track on every comment they make...I mean everything they seem incapable of getting it right the first time.
I will quote Winston Churchill: " The Truth is incontrovertible, Malice may attack it, Ignorance may deride it, but in the end there it is." (By the way - loved your youtube channel :-))
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper stated "Our position on Iran is clear-the recent actions by the Iranian authorities are unacceptable to us and inconsistent with any tolerable standard of human rights, Iran must stop using violence against its own people, release political prisoners and journalists who have been unjustly detained and allow both domestic and international media to report freely.
"Our government also stands proudly with the people of Iran and with members of our own Persian community who are demanding a full and transparent investigation into allegations of electoral fraud during June's presidential vote." Thank you Canada!
So the Democrats spend years and years claiming Bush stole the election (which, of course, he didn't) and yet are happy to declare Ahmadinejad as the elected leader.
What dimension do you live in? Bush's administration went after Iraq. Obama's administration has expanded on Bush's theatre of attack in every way. Their really is no difference between the presidents. Besides the obvious fact that Obama is better spoken.
He is still Kissengers lapdog and is close with a know domestic terrorist, Billy Ayers. Ayers also started ACORN. Which is now under investigation for voter fraud in many states. They also knowing hired convicted ID theives. Wake up.
What dimension do YOU live in? We are leaving Iraq now. By 2010, all the troops should be out.
As for Afghanistan, Obama CAMPAIGNED on the promise that we were to send more troops there. And with good cause! The people who did 911 are still there, and at large, and must be stopped.
As for your republican talking points, I wont even bother. Go watch some more Hannity. You sheep.

Right Gibbs, this is a debate that was ongoing in Iran. You can see how the Iranian government conducts debates if you watch the video of Neda getting murdered. It is a horrible thing to say that Ahmadinijad is the elected leader. This is spitting in the face of the Iranian people.
ROME's city council, passed a motion to name a street after Neda."Neda will be a symbol of courage and freedom for Rome. An example for all those young people who want a better world", said Allesandro Onorato, council member who had proposed the motion.
THANK YOU ITALY! We will never forget!"The street where Neda was killed is already known internationally as Neda Street.I am proud, that Rome, capital of peace, tolerance and freedom, will also have it's Neda Street", Onorato was quoted by CNN
'zartoshty', said in Farsi that he had heard tha Italy did not accept Ahamdinejad as legitimate. That's true that Italy is standing up for democracy and human rights. Seach romatoday- I can't post links here .
He is not the elected leader. A free and fair re election would prove that. You know very well that plenty of evidence exists that the election results were fraudulent. Basic statistical analysis even shows that they were made up.
Nobody asked you to help but PLEASE don't cover up for them and legitimize them!
Could Obama be on the Iranians payroll? I saw him practically stick his tongue up the Saudi Arab's ass a few weeks ago. Weird that, since the Saudi Arabs murdered thousands of Americans on 9/11. Now Iran is going to try and launch a nuclear attack to destroy Israel and Obama is being very friendly to Iran. Kind of obvious whose side Obama is on. Why doesn't he just put on the Muslim hat already and stop pretending?
Well, while I personally believe that Ahmadenijad had the support of the majority (though not the huge majority of the first election which was likely rigged) if the Iranians want change in their nation they need to get it for themselves. The whole world recognized King George's claim to the American colonies and the United States wouldn't be the nation it is today if they hadn't freed themselves. Iranians are strong people, and if they really want another revolution they don't need US support
Obama grew up as a communist. His mother renounced her American citizenship in 61 when she started taking Russian language classes during the height of the cold war. Obama's child hood mentor was a full blown communist. Obama covets the friend ship of dictators while giving our long time allies the cold shoulder. The idiot generation of American Idol fan voted for Barrack not for qualifications, which he hasn't, but because he's popular. Socialism isn't hope and change, its the opposite.
the elected leader? shame on you for saying that. the iranian people cried for the world to give them support for democracy and you dare to stand here and say ahmadinejad is the elected leader of iran while the iranian people are giving their lives for freedom? you know what we dont need your help. you were one the people who gave this regime power. and you know what im glad ahmadinejad was "selected" as president b/c if he hadnt, none of this revolutionary event would have happened
I really wish Gibbs would have simply said, "He's the 'SELECTED' leader". That would have spoken volumes more about any awareness or insight of administration, regardless of whether Obama ultimately feels he must engage with the present regime or not.
Obama loves thugs like AckMyDumbJihad. That's why he called the removal of Honduras' illegitimate thug a "coup". That's why he gave Chavez a big smile & warm greeting. That's why he's loosening restrictions on Cuba.
Clearly, Iranian Americans must put their money where their mouth is and ensure that every democratic candidate for the House and Senate; as well as Obama do Not get re-elected! This declaration is tantamount to acceptance, followed by negotiations. Obama does not support Regime Change; hence, we must help make him a one term president. We need to make an example out of Presidents who support dictatorships, by showing that in America, job titles are not permanent!
Mr. Gibbs: Shame on you for either foolish choice of word, "he is the elected leader" or deliberately setting precedence on what's coming next as Mr. Obama's policy. I understand you are politicians, but before being a politician, hopefully Mr. Obama considers himself as a human being. Dick Cheney started the Iraq war for profit, but dictators and butures were brought to justice as the result. How about doing the same thing in the name of justice. You cannot negotiate with vermin!
Come on folks. He didn't say Ahmadinejad was legitimate. In fact, he dodged that question altogether, and just said that he is elected [by the supreme leader and the guardian council] :D
That's exactly how I perceived it, too. People, listen to the *question*: he's SIDE-STEPPING. He won't call Ahmadinejad "legitimate". Hear the emphasis.
you are politicians after all. you are no different from other blood sucking paliticians. shame on you for saying he is "elect president". you are seeking your benefit not the benefit of man kind. shame on you altogether.
This is not and never will be "about the U.S." To me it doesn't matter what Gibbs said here, because if talks have to be made it would be made with whichever representative is in charge. Still, I wished Gibbs could have waited at least till after the end of the week before commenting.
No, read my profile, I'm an Israeli-American. I am also as critical of Ahmadinejad as you are. And probably a lot more than you are, given that he wants to nuke my family. :-)
I know you are emotional and you saw a lot of people protesting, but just like in USA, just because a lot of people are in the streets does not necessarily mean the rest of the country agrees with you.
You are a liar and a paid agent of Islamic Dictatorship in Iran! Israeli-American my ass!!! If you have a drop of Jewish blood in your veins, you are a traitor to your race and a disgrace to all Iranians, Americans, and Israelis. These thugs are killing innocent children on the streets, and you scumbag advocating for the Hitlers of our time. On your site you are advocating universal health care. LOL. Work hard, as you we may need it once urboyfriends in Iran develop the nuclear arsenals.
Lets try to see how US can play games against IR. Mosavi is the winner AN is the loser. So if AN(Ahmadi Nejad) accepts what US want US will forget about mosavi. If AN dosen't US may support Mosavi.
I wonder what those conditions are. One is nuclear issue.
Before my comment gets thumbed down into oblivion, I just want to reiterate that I as an Israeli-American do not support the results of the election.
However, anyone who has followed Iran's domestic politics for the last several years should not be surprised by the election results. Iran is a conservative country and Ahmadinejad is popular (based on convincing rural townspeople that he is one of them -- a religious conservative).
Iran is run by the mullahs so he is just a puppet anyway.
How comes the final result was announced 2 DAYS earlier than normally? Only a few hours after the last votes were thrown actually? How comes the numbers don't add up? How comes complete regions voted completely opposite to earlier elections and official polls before election?
You have to explain those things before you can say they were not rigged. His victory came not from the rural areas, check your facts
You have made a number of assumptions, all of which are not entirely accurate.
Vote counting may have been done hastily but the results reflected all the legitimate pre-election polls. The demographics in Iran voted unsurprisingly uniformly in accordance with their previous choices.
Your other assumption is that Ahmadinejad did NOT win the rural vote. That is nigh impossible, given his strong support from religious conservatives. Let us not forget that he was ENDORSED by the mullahs.
The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But, under the name of liberalism, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.
- Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948
Shame on both of you Gibbs and Obama. You are making the deal with the devil himself. Shame on you. Iranian people did not ask for your help and now you are stabbing them in the back.
You are in the foot path of Carter and will probably get a noble peace price too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Ahmadinejad may be unpopular in the West but even as an Israeli-American I know he was legitimately elected.
Iran is filled with populist religious conservatives. He is like their Bush. Hated by intellectuals and urban protestors but loved by the religious conservatives.
He's like Bush indeed. And that does NOT include "legitimately elected" :-)
Sorry, there are enough independent and objective analyses to show that the election was rigged. If not for the fact that the result was given out only few hours after the last vote was cast, and 2 days faster than at the last Iranian election. Even in a country like Belgium, with 10 million citizens, they don't manage to do it that quick...
It is not a legend, I know the domestic politics of Iran well.
The large protests occured in the big cities, but the silent majority, much like the religious right in USA, peacefully stayed in their homes in the rural areas. Just like in USA.
Most Iranians were satisfied with the results. I'm not saying you should agree with the results or have skepticism, but the fact is that outside of the liberal cities, Iran is conservative and sees Ahmadinejad as a fellow religious conservative.
This is not true. You need to do some research and know more before giving a comment here.
There are protestings in the large cities because the regime is not able to control them. If regime gives just one day free demonstrations then you'll see how many ppl are to the streets.
You don't have to like the results and you are free to protest against them. I am just giving my analysis based on my own research of Iranian's electorate and its opinion polling of the last few years.
No, you are spreading the same kind of propaganda many western countries spread already, LLORT3. You are not doing an "analysis" because you DO ignore the allegations that the results WERE faked. Stop lying.
The western countries want Ahmadinejad because it means continued and secure business. This is why both sides want to focus on the nuclear agenda - because if you focus on nuclear issues you can ignore human rights.
Your "analysis" is a shame to the free people of this world!
This is a slap to the Iranian people's face who gave their kids for democracy. And, for such actions we shall remain enemies of the U.S for good (ball-less bastards, sucking up to terrorists for Money and Oil!!!)
Unbelievable........speechless. I guess the US will continue to prop up ruthless dictators in order to facilitate it's foreign policy goals. Cowards. They should be ashamed of themselves. I am
Praise Ahmadinejad and Apologize for America. What else would we expect from a racist, community organizer. Obamatrons thanks for voting this jackass to office. Nearly 3 million jobs lost on his watch. As if Bush's deficit wasnt enough he has tripled it and now he wants to spend 1.6 TRILLION on socialized medicine. With this increased spending Obamas deficit will be greater than most countries GDP. Obama knows he will be one term and out unless he does an Ahmadinejad and steals it.

Reporter: "But does the administration recognize Ahmadinejad as the legitimate President of Iran?"
Robert Gibbs: "He is the elected leader."
...and as we all know AN is elected by Khamenei & friends.
TheMamabiti 2 years ago
I really wish Gibbs would have simply said, "He's the 'SELECTED' leader". That would have spoken volumes more about any awareness or insight of administration, regardless of whether Obama ultimately feels he must engage with the present regime or not.

We need to make an example out of Presidents who support dictatorships, by showing that in America, job titles are not permanent!
docsocal 2 years ago
You cannot negotiate with vermin!
youdeservedit 2 years ago
Yes we cry foul over this, and this is a partial list of what Obama should have done instead:
1) decry the brutality and violence with actual passion.
2) Openly call for other nations to sanction Iran.
3) Say something good about democracy perhaps.
4) Tell the Iranian people that if they want change, we will recognize them as freedom fighters/new government
5) treat them with at least the same contempt he has shown to the Cambrdge police and GM lienholders.

US have sold out MKO.
SaeedBaba 2 years ago
Before my comment gets thumbed down into oblivion, I just want to reiterate that I as an Israeli-American do not support the results of the election.
However, anyone who has followed Iran's domestic politics for the last several years should not be surprised by the election results. Iran is a conservative country and Ahmadinejad is popular (based on convincing rural townspeople that he is one of them -- a religious conservative).
Iran is run by the mullahs so he is just a puppet anyway.
LLORT3 2 years ago
How comes the final result was announced 2 DAYS earlier than normally? Only a few hours after the last votes were thrown actually? How comes the numbers don't add up? How comes complete regions voted completely opposite to earlier elections and official polls before election?
You have to explain those things before you can say they were not rigged. His victory came not from the rural areas, check your facts
JolleSax 2 years ago
You have made a number of assumptions, all of which are not entirely accurate.
Vote counting may have been done hastily but the results reflected all the legitimate pre-election polls. The demographics in Iran voted unsurprisingly uniformly in accordance with their previous choices.
Your other assumption is that Ahmadinejad did NOT win the rural vote. That is nigh impossible, given his strong support from religious conservatives. Let us not forget that he was ENDORSED by the mullahs.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Ahmadinejad may be unpopular in the West but even as an Israeli-American I know he was legitimately elected.
Iran is filled with populist religious conservatives. He is like their Bush. Hated by intellectuals and urban protestors but loved by the religious conservatives.
LLORT3 2 years ago
He's like Bush indeed. And that does NOT include "legitimately elected" :-)
Sorry, there are enough independent and objective analyses to show that the election was rigged. If not for the fact that the result was given out only few hours after the last vote was cast, and 2 days faster than at the last Iranian election. Even in a country like Belgium, with 10 million citizens, they don't manage to do it that quick...
JolleSax 2 years ago
LLORT3, dont talk crap. It is a legend that they have a big conservative majority outside towns.
Else explain why people would protest in the hundred-thousands so easily and readily.
shevegen 2 years ago
It is not a legend, I know the domestic politics of Iran well.
The large protests occured in the big cities, but the silent majority, much like the religious right in USA, peacefully stayed in their homes in the rural areas. Just like in USA.
Most Iranians were satisfied with the results. I'm not saying you should agree with the results or have skepticism, but the fact is that outside of the liberal cities, Iran is conservative and sees Ahmadinejad as a fellow religious conservative.
LLORT3 2 years ago
This is not true. You need to do some research and know more before giving a comment here.
There are protestings in the large cities because the regime is not able to control them. If regime gives just one day free demonstrations then you'll see how many ppl are to the streets.
An Iranian.
mkned 2 years ago 3
mkned,
You don't have to like the results and you are free to protest against them. I am just giving my analysis based on my own research of Iranian's electorate and its opinion polling of the last few years.
LLORT3 2 years ago
No, you are spreading the same kind of propaganda many western countries spread already, LLORT3. You are not doing an "analysis" because you DO ignore the allegations that the results WERE faked. Stop lying.
The western countries want Ahmadinejad because it means continued and secure business. This is why both sides want to focus on the nuclear agenda - because if you focus on nuclear issues you can ignore human rights.
Your "analysis" is a shame to the free people of this world!
shevegen 2 years ago
Israeli's love Ahmadinejad
Why? Because he constantly says what they want. It's very obvious.
Now Israelis have a choice, you're either with Iran's people (in which case you wouldn't attack the country now and you wouldn't do anything stupid)
Or you're with ahmadinejad (and its masters), in which case I should tell you we will come for you (for real) once we solve our problems.
We saved your race's ass before in history, don't fuck it up now.
2Piemaster 2 years ago
Why would we love Ahmadinejad? He -- even as a puppet -- has inflamed Palestinians against Israel for the last few years.
Yes, I realize this was all for domestic political reasons, but still. He is not our friend. We want peace with Iran.

"you are free to protest against them"
Not in Iran. Protest a little too loudly, and there's a good chance you'd wind up on the wrong end of a gun.
