p.s. in the chapter called "The Divorce" in the Quran it says when a divorce takes place "turn them not out of their homes" so women get to keep their homes after the divorce and i guess this is very much like the modern pre-nup, only centuries earlier.

no thats not what im saying. im saying that the woman get back in mahr from the man the amount that was left out of her inhertiance! so the finaces are evened out. The man has to pay mahr to the woman and in order to do that he needs more inhertiance, the woman gets to chose the amount of mahr is payed to her before they marry! So all finances are evened out.

There is no beating in the Quran. A prophet called Job made an oath in his anger that he was going to beat his wife for worshipping satan, but then God said u cant beat ur wife and that if he wanted to relieve the oath he made to God that if he just tapped her with grass instead it would not be a sin.

The west, centuries later, adopted these institutions and laws.
Thomas Jefferson, used to own his own Quran that he use to carry around. Islam was a great influence in the "American Democracy" when it was about justice and constitutional rights

just because muslims have rules, values and guidleines to ensure harmony and justice does not mean that we are not free. not being free means taking transitory culture for guidance and the best of human law originated in religion.
p.s. in the chapter called "The Divorce" in the Quran it says when a divorce takes place "turn them not out of their homes" so women get to keep their homes after the divorce and i guess this is very much like the modern pre-nup, only centuries earlier.

and muslims believe God sent down the Tora and the Gospel but it was changed so the Quran is a restoration that hasn't ben changed thats why the originals are the same as the latest publications.

We all know that there are many women who have careers and can financially support their selves but what about a woman that chooses not to work, u dont think its her husbands responsibility, (since she raising his kids and since they are married) that she deserves a share of his money? if its the word "wage" thats bothering u i was alluding to this famous Feminist writer called Germaine Greer who says that house wives should get a wage in her book the "Female Eunuch"

Physically the hijab may not look like a liberation but it is symbolic and psychological. Ur liberating ur self from suffcating hypocritical (because there's no better word for it) western influence that tells u, u need to drop ur culture and tradition to be neutral, accepted and liberal. Wearing a hijab and covering ur self is not culturally inferior to wearing a bikini and a tank top it is actually morally superior. Its a kind of cultural colonisation before they go in for the real thing.

"hypocrite" in the Quran is a term used to describe a group of spies who posed as muslims during the prophets time. If u chose not to where the hijab or leave the religion u would not be called a "hypocrite".
There is no "compulsion in religion"

(about inheritance)
1) the woman does not pay dowry, as was the pre-islamic tradition, the man is expected to pay the dowry.
2) in islam, when a couple divorce there by law is meant to be a settlement, the woman is meant to leave with a share (and u will recognise these marriage and divorce laws emulated by western governments now) and when a couple divorce all finacial responsibility is on the man to support his kids (so there is mercy)

the marriage contract was first implemented in 7th century arabia and was binding by islamic law it is called a mahr and was adopted by western states centuries later as were other public institutions and laws such as the modern hospitals, orphanges and the welfare state.
This is of the many verses that explains the husbands finacial responsibility. (in the first book of the Quran called the "Cow")

This verse was talking about self defence. The muslims were persecuted, tortured, killed and had to flee from their homes. Then permission came down to defend their selves and when it says kill them "where ever you find them" it is talking about the battle field, it is telling them to be resolute-hearted and not to flee.
It says in the Quran that God does not like the "starter of hostilities" and if they stop then u stop! secondly there are guildlines to self defence u...

Bigger loses would come from them slaughtering civilians then a fair fight in a field somewhere with equiped (or in the muslim army's case less equiped) armies. It would be wrong to see a whole ppl get wiped out...
