  • I had that lol exact one with the same monitor lol those were the days

  • I used to have the same old model. Thanks for uploading

  • so faaaaaaaaaaaaaaast yeah remember the read error lol or eof met

  • good old times

  • You could copy games from tape to disc to and watch them load even quicker too, back in the day.

I guess this works, as the way the tape worked for cpc was sort of speed independent afaict

  • omg you ll burn that amstrad

  • omg you ll burn that amstrad

  • I have noticed in your monitor you have something in the 12v socket. I wonder what it is for? A supply that powers an external tape drive?

  • Awesome video. Keep on with that good work!

  • does anyone know how to run a DSK file on a real Amstrad CPC 464?

  • aww I used to have one of those! It had a colour monitor!! I wonder if a CPC464 without a tape input could ever handle that with one of those car CD player adapters!

  • 20 Seconds! That's impressive!! Didn't realise they could handle that rate!

  • Its actualy impressive seeing the amstrad load this fast! the CPU must be able to cope with much more than the read time of the tapes!

  • how do you get the modern pc to feed the data to the amstrad?

  • I remember hearing tape loading noises so often that I could hear little mini tunes going on in there, plus I knew exactly when it was about to finish loading etc.

Actually tape loading on the CPC464 was extremely reliable compared with say the Spectrum or Commodore 64. With the others I constantly had to try different cassette recorders and/or adjust the azimuth head alignment screw before anything would load, plus I had to write down settings that worked.

  • Well, thats fast for tape. But disk is still faster. :D

  • I think that the loading time through this method is nearly as as fast as Amstrad's 'disc' drive.

  • What do you type before RUN" ?

  • Since it is a CPC 6128 you have to type "|TAPE".

If not, system will try read from disk.

  • esta claro que ha usado un poke porque ningun cpc puede cargar tan rapido

  • Man, that was quick.

    Green screens rule!

    :)

  • Definately cool, but half the fun of the 464 was the anticipation of whether the game would actually load or not!

  • lmao..so true

  • good lord hahahahahaha, those systems made terrible noises, but ur anticipation comment was hilarious anyway

  • @bruvajon

I have never had that problem with any of my 464s in 25 years of use. On the other hand an CPC 6128 with external tape works much like your ZX Spectrum or C64 and has some problems with loading

  • Please could you tell me what software I would need to do the same to my Amstrad CPC6128 and what connector lead please, many thanks.

  • La carga es rapídísima y sin fallos, pero lo que es jugar al juego, no se te da demasiado bien. X)

  • Lol, very fast ! I remember all the time facing the cpc and praying there's no "read error"... :)

  • Manic Miner was the worst for this... but most games got loaded from tape exactly once; Multiface FTW.

  • @fmrshadow

In the seven years that I had and used my CPC464, I never recall a single game not loading properly. Maybe I was lucky I dunno, although I always thought the Amstrad had better build quality than most 8-bit micros of the time. However I did have a lot of problems loading and saving with my ZX Spectrum 48K; it was a black art getting things to load on that machine!

  • No veas, en 30 segundos. Y eso que dices que está sin depurar ni nada :D
