Hello. I have regular lego differentials that I sometimes use in my trial trucks I build. However I wanted more of a challenge, so I am going to build on kind of similar to yours, but I have a different design. Because of this video I will subscribe, it would be great if you subscribe back just so that you could see when I post a video of the new differential. Thanks, have a nice day. (PS as i write this i have no vids up but they will be up very soon)
December 24 at 8:00 in the morning a young 14 year old boy by the name of Scott Johnson was found dead.Doctors couldn't come up with the cause of his death. His mother checked his emails to see if she could figure out what happened.Turns out he was still signed into myspace. She found he had gone to sleep after he read and didn't repost a chain letter. If you don't repost this to six other videos a girl with no face will kill you tonight.Sorry dont want to die
That is so amazing. I'm studying electrical engineering and all that mechanical stuff really eludes me. I also have a dusty LEGO Mindstom kit lying around and your video really gave me some ideas. Thank you.
As the differential keeps spinning, you'll have less torque, therefore less power. Pin it in place to get the maximum amount of torque for your wheels, man. Nice one, though.
that seemed like a rreally short, kinda incomplete video. i know how a differential works, but that was pretty shaky in explaination and demostration.
I have a new kit that came with special pieces for a differential. I wonder often how much people have done with the Technics and then look at the tubes. They are inspiring and endorse the understanding of mechanical linkages and such.
@rednail246 there not as strong - the gears break so if you wanted to build a strong, off road robot, you should use that idea - it's got more gears that are larger so there less likely to break.
A Limited Slip Differential AKA, an LSD, has weights in it so if you go at a fast enough speed the centripetal force will lock up the inner gears and both of the tires will move at the same rate. great for drifting :D
You do know that there is a lego piece with a differential already right ? 3 equally sized sprockets, the differential with the sprocket and 2 axis. You can find a image of it here : h t t p ://halr9000 (dot) com/article/97.

I have one made by Lego that is much smaller, but it is amazing you can make one out of regular pieces.

very clever that is so helpful thanks so much : )

difransiyelin nasıl çalıştığını bu videoda öğrendim, sağ yada sol tekerin hızını o yine kendisi belirliyormuş

Just how much horsepower can that Lego differential handle?
I'm just kidding. Great video!

you can get plastic lego differential
rednail246 3 years ago 7
You can from an older set, but not the one I had. I think mine was the Mindstorm NXT set.

Is that a limited slip differential?
Where you're stuck in the mud, jam on the gas one tire spins the other does nothing?
BlindDogFulton 3 years ago
it's not a limited slip diff, it's open.

you need bigger wheels, else it will run on the differential instead of the wheels!

that is a great way of explaining a diff to all those people who are mechanically challenged(my mom)

There is not one with the NXT set, after making the video, I purchased an old Mindstorm 1.5 set and it had one there.
