Had the same issue hence visiting this page, squeezed back of screen and there was a distinctive click sound and fab it works again, where previously it would only work in the fully open position. Thanks People!
I have the same problem with my one, however my brother has the exact same laptop and his works perfectly....any suggestions on how i can destroy his? :-)
@aidibadibongobu A quick and dirty solution is to squeeze the plastic frame of the monitor at the bottom of the monitor, between the monitor and the keyboard. Try squeezing at different points along this edge of the monitor and you will find that the white-screen disappears, to be replaced by a normal picture. If you have the option, though, I would recommend sending it back to the manufacturer ... for a longer term solution (probably a new cable between the monitor and the keyboard).
Sounds like the Blue Screen of Death to me. My advice would be to wipe your hard drive and restore from backup. If you don't have a backup then you'll have to reinstall Windows then all of your applications. Good luck.
My laptop also has a problem but the screen doesnt turn white it turns into a blue screen with some texts on it. I remember that it said something about Windows having a problem. And the only way I can get the laptop to work again is to shut it down. Can someone tell me why this happens and how to prevent this from happening?
@zainuintel If your netbook is still under guarantee, take it back to the shop you bought it from. That's what I did. They installed a new cable between the motherboard and the screen. As you can see from the comments here, this is a common problem.
@hinasattva Hi, I realise this is a very old comment, but this has just started to happen on my daughters netbook. Other than squeezing it on either side which works 4 a while, shove a 2p piece or a bit of rolled up paper down the left hand side, between the screen and the board. Works for me!
search NC10 White Screen Fix and go to first result, look for a user named "outnumbered" I repaired my netbook without needing any new cables or anything, it was really easy, just thought id be helpful, hope it works for you guys like it has me, email me via youtube if u wanna know more.
Just out of curiosity, has anybody had issues with the graphics drivers on this? I installed the drivers and one of the driver files seemed corrupt and I got the screen with all the crash info.
I have the same issue with mine, at first it is intermittent but recently it is getting worse. Interesting comments about the cable theory, I feel it has something more to do with the brightness of the screen. I have changed my settings to reduce the brightness, I will say it has gotten better but not fixed.

You can report this to their Executive Customer Relations department(ECR) at 800-726-7864 they are available from 9:00am - 9:00pm(EST), 7 days a week. I was given a UPS tracking number and told to take it to a local UPS and they will box it up for me and send it in for repair. No cost to me. Once it's received, the warranty will be extended so their repair facility can repair it.
i know I have one too, in fact I'm on it right now but it keeps acting up like that, I just shake the screen but sometimes I get REALLY pissed off, also recently my charger thing wasn't working has that happened yet?
if pressure brings it back, the pressure is applied somewhere to cause it to come back, so i made a diagonal fold on the first square portion of the lcd wire from the hinge and taped it down after moving it around a bit until no white screen appeared at all. so fault is somewhere along the flat portions of the lcd wire.
Faulty cable, i opened it quite a few times already, adjusted it many times and put a bunch of tape, clear and electrical.
but as others said, applyin pressure on certain areas have caused screen to appear, so what i did was made a fold on the flat portions of the cable leading to the connector. play around with making a fold or two and moving the screen around while it is still on. i did so on the first flat portion from hinge with one fold and taped it down with clear tape.

@hinasattva Your tip actually worked. Got a blue NC10, 14 months after I bought it, it started going blank/white. When I press the sides between thumb and point finger, the screen comes back... for a while. No permanent solution indeed, but at least I now know I am not the only one suffering from this problem. Guess I am sending it back to Samsung. Thanks
yeah, iv got the same thing right now xD the problem is the cable connecting the motherboard and the LCD screen, just have to send it and get it repaired now ;P most warrantys are 1 year and i bought mine in november last year
I think this problem has something to do with the hinges. Maybe they're crap? i'm currently dealing with this and at first I could make it go back to normal by adjusting it, but now it takes a while for me to fix and i can't even pull my screen all the way up even when I squeeze the hell out of it. This really sucks...
@busymike I took my machine back to the dealer, who replaced the cable between the motherboard and the screen. That was last September, since then I have had no problems.
i have a compaq presario c700.and when i turn it on the screen is whit like this.i have one year warranty but i live in albania and my laptop is from uk.what can i do?how can i fix it ?is the price to fix very high??
ok so anyone knows what the problem/solution is??? My gf gets the same white screen as everyone, it just out of warranty, she likes this n.book wants to keep it. Is it a cable or screen or both or something else? I think I could replace a cable or maybe even the screen (fixed phones and comps before for myself) but not sure how to diagnose the exact problem accurately - any advice would be much appreciated
I have the same problem, it started happening about 4 months after purchase but i managed to stop it for a while by making the brightness of the screen low, but now it happens with even the lowest brightness level.
I have 2 months Warrenty left and i will be contacting Samsung on Monday.
If anybody else has the same problem, i would suggest you do the same.
i have the same problem with my nc10 ,the sacreen goes white some time if i move the screen then i haev to control it by decreasing the brightness level.
I have this same problem. Tilting the screen, pressure on the bottom of the lcd, dimming the brightness all can sometimes correct the white screen but not for long. My warranty just expired.
@bigfatrooster This is how I fixed my screen: Open the screen... CAREFULLY (take care of the screws and be careful because the plastic casing is a little flimsey). Behind the screen you will see a silver rectangle which has wires in it... you want to massage those wires. I think the screen goes white because the wires are not connected as well as they should be. Put the screen back together and voila. NO MORE WHITE!
I take NO RESPONSIBILTY if you crack the casing. You've been warned.
same thing just started happening to me. apparently its pretty widespread. most people are saying its a problem with the cable between the screen and motherboard. definitely a hardware issue
Its been four months now since I had the cable between the motherboard and the screen replaced. The screen is working fine. The work cost nothing, it was covered by the two year guarantee. I'm still a big fan of this netbook.
Dixons. I have a 2-year warranty, I don't think that taking it in to get it fixed means that the warranty is suddenly cancelled. Give it a try. Do you have the original receipt?
I've also had this problem with mine and it does indeed respond/correct when you apply pressure at the bottom corners of the screen and/or push against the back. So it's physical hardware issue I'm guessing.
My advice would be to take it back to the shop where you bought it and get them to replace the cable connecting the motherboard to the screen. That worked for me.
Maybe the problem is the cable connecting the screen to the motherboard? Someone opened the NC10 to verify the problem? In my brother's computer is the same problem, I intend to look at this. It is strange that the problem occurs when the screen brightness set to maximum.
I have the exact same problem, angles around 90 degrees are the worst. Also lowering the brightness allows more angles to not go white screen. The fact it changes with angle I conclude it must be physical too, like the ribbon connector.

Yes, a cable problem.
WARNING: DO NOT SEND ANYTHING TO SAMSUNG W/OUT A BACKUP!
I told them (by mail, by printed mail between display and keyboard) NOT TO
format disc, NOT TO update BIOS, NOT TO change any other thing except the
f***** cable ... BUT ... PLS DONT ASK. Stupid, just stupid people. So I have
