  • God looks just like Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth.

  • theres one thing i disagree with and its men and women should be equal. now now ladies i love and respect you and im in NO way a sexist but men naturally lead and women follow. i love that women love to cater. i love that women are the more sweet non violent sex. i love that women are feminine and "girly". most women want a man to lead anyways regardless of religion. women want to be loved and men want to be respected. we should be equal as human beings in a sense that womens voice also counts

  • Great!

  • "Her consent is neither requested nor required."

    Sooo.... rape. :P

  • @aasimazam, can't wait to see your reaction when He (capitalised to emphasise the deity like status of nonstampcollector, teehee) creates a video on Islam.

  • Not the scientists and so called "advanced" or "civilised" people of the world who couldn't give two fucks about what happens in the world. To busy worrying about paying the bills and keeping up with celebrity news to realise what is actually happening in the world and making stupid YouTube videos attacking those who don't instead of addressing the problem head on. Some shit head will reply to this with his self righteous bullshit - save it! I don't give a fuck what you think.

  • @aasimazam Yeah, what I should have done is included the idea that Jesus could have & ought to have converted all the world's deserts into fertile productive land, so as to alleviate or eliminate starvation. I really should have included that.

    And in fact I did.

  • @NonStampCollector laughable how little you actually know about the world sitting judging it from your computer. So you are trying to tell me famine is caused by lack of productive land?

  • @aasimazam No. The religious groups exploit the poorer populations to gain converts. Further, the obvious point of the video is that the the supposedly loving Christian deity had the opportunity to fix vast problems for humanity AND show omnipotence, yet did not. Whether its followers do good works in the future, which by nature must be significantly less impressive than what the deity can supposedly perform, is irrelevant.

Read the description box. Reading Comprehension FAIL.

  • @TheJudoKevin and what makes you think that humanity had such problems at that time? I suppose arguing about this from my perspective seeing as I am not a Christian is futile as essentially you are arguing against them. However my grievance with the overall effect of your so called, intellectual free thinking movement that advocates faults with religion in general when your "answer to everything" science has given nothing to the world apart from fat pockets.

  • @aasimazam The video does not say that science is teh answer to "everything." Nor does it promote "free thinking." The video is directed toward a specific topic. You have a different point to make, which may or may not be valid - but it is not directed at this video, and thus your criticism of the video is invalid - not necessarily your viewpoint, which should be the topic of a different discussion. No more, no less.

  • @aasimazam Nothing? Information technology, advanced irrigation, Improved crop sustainability, longer lives, reduced disease, Transportation, the internet, computers and machines which perform brutal necessary tasks so humans don't have to, telephones, televisions, materials which are longer lasting and easier to manufacture. Earthquake proof buildings, flood defences, water supplies which are resistant to disease and drout.

Science has given the whole world a whole lot. Be grateful.

  • @aasimazam What a lie. Science has given us everything we have today. All the progress we've made, all the diseases that no longer exist... ALL OF THAT Religion has given us...shit.

  • @meaninter03 disease doesn't exist? What progress? For a minority of the world, the people that have money yes, for others nothing. Advancements ONLY FOR PROFIT not for humanity.

  • @aasimazam Fuck off. The whole world is better off today. Stop huffing the paint of class warfare, victim. There are 7 billion people in the world today, and while we don't live in paradise, we live exponentially better than we did 100 years ago.

  • @meaninter03 by "we" you mean about 25-30% of the worlds population. Congratulations.

  • @aasimazam Thanks. Capitalism works. And the 30%, or 2 billion people equals the world's population half a century ago. Science and its improvements have made it possible for an additional 5 billion to live.

  • @aasimazam It's so easy to bash hard work and profit. What alternatives have you got?!

  • @meaninter03 decentralisation of wealth for one would be a great start and maybe some good might come into the world then. Eradicate the interest based system the world runs on, stop feeding the world bullshit about global warming and saving the planet by "switching off your TV" when bombs are being dropped willy nilly. There are many things but I really can't be bothered. But that's a start.

  • @aasimazam "Eradicate the interest system the world runs on" - sounds fuzzy and warm but I don't know what kind of solution is this. It can either mean the state seizes all the wealth and distributes it equally, or anarcho-socialism. In either case, despite your cynicism about world affairs you seem to have a ridiculously optimistic idea about human nature and motivation, i.e. people working just the same regardless of how much they get for their work, all for the sake of equality.

  • @aasimazam "bullshit about global warming" - nice soundbite, no facts to back it up and plenty to debunk. "bombs are being dropped willy nilly" - believe it or not the world is larger than the Middle East, and the few other countries were wars are currently being fought. If you prefer the good ol' times of religious and ethnic-based wars then I guess you are looking at the past with rose tinted glasses.

  • @aasimazam Interest is a fantastic thing. It drives economic growth.

BS about global warming? You'd better hope it's BS. It's gonna hit the poor the hardest.

What other BS are you going to spew?

Btw: wealth is decentralizing. Capitalism is spreading, and the poor are getting jobs, factories, middle classes. Look at China. Their growth is helping others grow.

What other lies have you got?

  • @meaninter03 do you hear yourself? Interest is ALL about the centralisation of wealth. Capitalism is a false idea and it does no one except the person(s) at the top good. The rest maybe employed but the majority must live hand to mouth. Most "employment" in the third world is exploitation anyway by western corporations. etc etc ... this is getting boring.

  • @aasimazam At least in my country most employment (80%) is based on small and medium local enterprises, and not on Western corporations, and the remaining 20% is a mix of local and foreign investment. Other countries get more foreign investment, but very few actually want to get rid of it. Ask the Chinese whether they want foreign investment to leave them, they'll murder you. They've done everything they can to attract it.

  • @aasimazam You are one delusional piece of work, you know that? All you are doing is presenting problems (some of which are completly irrelevant and are hardly problems) and providing no solutions to them what-so-ever! China's growth is helping others grow? WTF is wrong with you CHINA doesn't even want to grow, their very society is headed for colapse, didn't you take a fricken biology class and learn about population growth? Firstly what is your ...And shit i ran out of characters...

  • @MrSteakable why are you saying this to me? I didn't say anything about China.

  • @aasimazam "disease doesn't exist?" Well looks like someone needs to improve reading comprehension. There are many diseases that have been erradicated over the years, or rendered practically harmless, and not just in Europe and North America. Average life expectancy has increased EVERYWHERE in the last century, and not just for the wealthy. Looking at the past you'll only find more misery, ignorance and bigotry, regardless of which part of the world you are looking at.

  • @CoonAndFriends2 take off the rose tinted glasses.

  • @aasimazam No rose tinted glasses, just plain facts. You must believe developed countries treat their sick with voodoo - being from a thirld world country myself (Bolivia), let me tell you that we would have it a lot harder if we would cling to superstition as a substitute for Western science. Does the world still have wars, poverty and sickness? Sure, but it comes nowhere close to what it was a century ago.

  • @CoonAndFriends2 I'm not advocating that vodoo magic be a substitute and I did not deny that there were advancements, there is still incurable diseases in the world, cancer is just one example, I could mention many like arthiritis, diabetes, etc that are not cured, rather relieved. My point was the imbalance because to have those advancements you need make sure the people on top are making a profit.

  • @aasimazam So basically you are criticizing the video for not being about the topic you are interested about, namely economic inequality. You then made a vague point about the need to "decentralize wealth", without precising how this should be done and whether it is possible to maintain scientific progress (whose importance I'm not sure you fully appreciate) without an incentive structure that relies on self-interest. I get the feeling you are only commenting to be provocative.

  • @CoonAndFriends2 Actually its linked, my argument was, what is to blame, maybe I should have came across clearer. There isn't enough space in these boxes to get a point a across and spanning across three or four comments is really distracting.

Basically the video is faulting God and religion for apparently not doing anything about the ailments of the world. By extension the very people laying blame out their trust in scientific knowledge which isn't much different in principle to religion.

  • @aasimazam Apparently you've missed the point of the video. No atheist really blames God for anything, since atheists don't believe God exists. What the author of the video is arguing is that if the Christian all-knowing all-loving God would exist, instead of giving a set of apalling commandments he would give scientific knowledge to help people overcome many of the treatable diseases of that time. Religion has historically been an obstacle to the attainment of such knowledge.

  • @aasimazam Your assertion that scientific knowledge isn't different in principle to religion is just plain wrong. Science isn't a basis for morality, it doesn't serve a moral purpose and scientists don't pretend it does. It is the people that make use of it that make moral and immoral decisions, and they do so without resort to science. Religion, by contrast, carries the pretense of setting guidelines for moral decision-making, which is what is being criticized in this video.

  • @aasimazam Lastly, you repeat once again your argument that the evil in the world is caused by the imbalance of wealth. Even if, for the sake of argument, we would accept this argument as true, you haven't fleshed out an alternative to capitalism or a mixed economy. You are just blaming science for something it doesn't pretend to resolve (i.e. bad morals, imbalance of wealth), and capitalism for not achieving what no other system I know of can plausibly achieve.

  • @CoonAndFriends2 the reason for the and evil in the world isn't because some beardy man is telling me to kill everyone or starve whole countries through debt - the cause is the imbalance of wealth. But you won't understand this. Its the root of everything since the beginning of time, people only want power to gain wealth.

  • Thoughtful video - got to keep up the good fight against religion. Man with no superstitious belief in gods, ghosts, spirits or monsters is the next stage in his evolution.

  • The angels in this video are very sympathetic creatures. :) They seem to have some good ideas.

  • this video is gold :) well done .

  • NonStamp, what about Holy Trinity, the belief that God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost are all separate beings?

  • @MultiMooseProduction Isn't that been put in place due to the council of Nikea and all other dissenters were sent to exile or worse? guess that's why so many gospels are missing

  • Absolutely perfect.

  • Ignorant atheists

  • @jimphillips95 Ignorant TROLL

  • @jimphillips95 Do you have a rational argument to back that statement up? Or are you just going to insult and run like a good Christian.

  • Slight problem: If you stopped Earth quakes and volcanoes, you'd cut off the carbon cycle which is needed to stabilize the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere.

    Other than that, great video.

  • @dcarrera01 An omnipotent God could fix that without earthquakes.

  • @Keitaro2011: Well, an omnipotent God can basically do magic, so yeah. But I thought it was an interesting point that you can't just turn off earthquakes and volcanoes without serious repercussions.

  • @dcarrera01 Are you suggesting that GOD can't do whatever the fuck it wants? It invented this shit, right? So the natural laws you are quoting are an irrelevance.

  • I never notice the whole Jesus stuff and crucifixion sounded so stuck up...

  • Oh, so god is English?

  • @badboy19971976 No God is an Aussie

  • @Salment Understandable.

  • @Salment how do you tell the difference? (no joke, just curious)

  • @MockingVenus Because the guy who makes yhis vis has talked about being aussie

  • @badboy19971976 he's clearly Australian...

  • judge that u dont understand, so smart

  • @UqtQQBvD oh?

  • Haha so funny when God tries to justify the old testament stuff by "cultural context"

  • Dude, clearly God is real. He's just a total asshole. lulz.

  • "Well the ones that are correct are facts and the ones that aren't are just metaphor of course." - Haha brilliant :-)

  • I choked on popcorn laughing at this. Well done sir, well done!

  • You know I've never really thought about this but now that you mention it it seems kind of obvious.

  • Psh, it's okay. Actual lives and suffering don't matter. All Jesus cared about was getting 20% of mankind to go to heaven, while the other 80% or more would inevitably burn forever for being designed to use their free will to specifically reject him.

  • lols no saben subir videoss

  • "Millions and millions of people are going to continue to starve to death throughout the rest of human history because, rather than do anything helpful about it, you'd prefer to go around spitting on disabled people."

  • i need to make 300 accounts so i can subscribe

  • You're brilliant.

  • slavery still exists

  • @stuttgurth yeah in every modern country

  • i wish somebody would actually do the research to show which myths had things like virgin births and which did not. we can't keep perpetuating false claims

  • (2) Jesus went up to Jerusalem. In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!"

  • @Imbalance15 I have no idea what you're trying to tell people with this, there's no context provided. Is it supposed to matter to anyone?

  • (1) moron people... READ THIS.!

    John 2:13-17 (also Matthew 21:12-13, Mark 11:15-18, Luke 19:45-46)

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover,

  • Angel: Why do u wanna help such a limited number of people in just one time and place when you can so easily give just a tiny piece of your infinite knowledge for them to pass on and build upon and help all of humanity" God: Look I know what your saying but i wanna keep up my mysterious image. It's much more mysterious to be able to end disease but choose not to".

    WTF?!!??!

Fucking cunt, he won't share his scientific and medical knowledge?!?

  • This is one the smartest videos I've ever seen... THANK YOU 9GAG!!!!

  • Good video but you failed the easiest most easiest test that this whole "christian" idea the reason its been around "faith" not that I am relegious myself - just educated

  • One's life here on Earth is as insignificant as an eyeblink, however it does serve a purpose and that is to show God who will and who will not be spending eternity with Him.

  • @theetrue Got any proof for that?

  • @Stairc

God's Word says there will be no proof except being alive again after being dead.

  • @theetrue In that case, how can you distinguish your belief from a delusion?

  • @theetrue so god judge us by something so "insignificant as an eyeblink"? very fair, vary vary fair ¬¬

  • Fun video, but preposterous and full of falsifications and twisted truths!

  • @vic7000 Such as?

  • @vic7000 exactly how does that differ from the bible?...then it breaks down into the words vs words arguement

  • great vid :)

  • LOL, we need some angels like that as world leaders ;)

  • Really overwelming :)

  • google toldot yeshu

    google sandhren 106a

  • i am a god fearing man but this was funny as hell

  • @gilon1239 Ur a child or retarded

  • I liked this whole video except for the part when they brought up the whole part of Females Being Equivalent to Males.

  • @OneTheOnlyOne It's true tho according to God.

  • @OneTheOnlyOne

He said equal not equivalent. May be differences between the genders, but that doesn't mean one gender should be treated inferior. He says we'd all be better off if there was less discrimination (i guess i can't talk for NSC) because societies with less of that tend to have better economies and social stuff.

  • So, Jesus is cockney?

  • @HelplessInOttawa I though it was quite an obvious Australian accent.

  • @lupa559 Or maybe from new zealand

  • @lupa559 Fair enough, he's Australian?

  • why aren't there any muslims on here saying "the quran is full of scientific facts"?

  • and i think i just went atheist

  • God, the original troll.

  • "uuuurgghh... Do something worthwhile and actually godlike!!" 7:36 LOOOL!!

  • Now we know why Lucifer rebelled.

  • @Winterwolf00 He always was the clear hero of that story if you look at it from a narrative perspective.

  • @VetinariClone Indeed.

  • JUST CLASSIC...LETS OPEN THE WORLD WIDE DEBATES !

  • do i sense mutiny? :P

  • Thanks for the vid NSC - used it on an Alpha course + it completely flawed the 2 Christians there lol. Just 1 rebuttal though - if Jesus cured all disease, surely we would blame him for creating it on the first place..?

  • yep...time to think.

    well put...great choice of notes

  • 1:43 - 1:51

I think my brain just exploded.

  • I never thought Christianity helped people at all, in fact, I thought it made the people of the time dumber.

  • @QuestionRenee

That's the case of medieval Europe. The Middle East was the scientific Mecca (for lack of a better term) because Islamic society allowed scientific study to be published and spread, surprisingly.

  • Think people THINK! Quit fearing the use of your own brain!

  • @dawnql - Titus is key to understanding Jesus.

Jesus predicts the next generation will see the destruction of Jerusalem. Titus fulfills this prophecy.

Jesus predicts that Simon will be killed and John will be spared. Titus kills a Simon in Rome and spares a John.

    Weird right? Not really.

The Romans wrote the gospels, based parts of it Josephus' Jewish War (c 74 AD) and back-dated the story to a generation before.

Paul was written later and back-dated to before 70 AD.

    Does that make sense?

  • 585 ass hurt Christians seen this video!

  • 6:20 and on = insta-subscribbed!

Can you please counter this argument though?

"All the fathers of modern science were Bible-believers. All the advances in modern science and technology have occurred in Bible-based western civilization, especially Christian America. The inventor of the CAT scanner is an outspoken creationist. How many tech or science advancements have come out of secular societies like the USSR, Cuba, or N. Korea? "

  • @Lishy1 "All of the fathers of modern science were Bible-believers"... that's just a patently wrong statement. Google atheist inventors. You asked for a counter-argument, but I can't seem to find your argument... Maybe you are implying that the religion someone subscribes to when they discover or invent something is supposed to prove something about that religion? Note that over 80% of the people in prison are christian, what does that prove? :-)

  • and then he sent them all to hell =]

  • when I watched this I though 8====D

    Fuck Religion!

    Fuck God!

Thanks for the video Religion is a joke!

  • I could do more but I like my mysterious image

  • I'm Christian and I find this hilarious haha. I just never understood why atheists care so much about religion. If atheists are right, shouldn't they happy instead of being so pissed off about religion? Not that you are like that, I just know a few that are infuriated by it and it makes me scratch my head why they care so much. Again, this was hilarious.

  • @physicalgravy religion is a big part of the world which unfortunately we have to share with you and you're beliefs have direct consequences in it. For example: gay rights, teaching creationism instead of evolution, genetic research. So why if we are right should we be happy? If we're right the world stinks, that's why we speak out against religion

  • @wHisperis001 Actually I don't have a problem with gay people. I think it's gross and a fucked in their genetics but I don't think they are evil. Who am I to say how they should live or makes them happy? I think creationism is fucking retarded. Anyone who believes Adam and Eve rode dinosaurs is a moron. I think evolution is right and so is the big bang. Not all Christian believe the same stuff nor are they all completely insane. Don't forget, God isn't what's wrong with religion, it's people.

  • @physicalgravy ah yes after all this youtube debates I sometimes forget people like you exist. Good to be remembered. I guess if everyone was like you we wouldn't have much to disagree on. I can imagine being in your shoes that atheism might look aggressive towards you but I guess you have to blame the fundamentalists on "your side" because they provoke us most of the time. Out fault is in grouping you together in one group

  • @wHisperis001 our*

  • @wHisperis001 Fundamentalists are insane. Believing every word of the bible is ridiculous. Whether or not it is the word of God, it was still put together by people and those people threw away quite a bit of text because they didn't agree with what was written.

  • @physicalgravy "Don't forget, God isn't what's wrong with religion, it's people."

Unless god is just a fictional construct devised by people to tell themselves fairy tales to explain what they don't understand, in which case the reason the god of the Old Testament is such a twisted sadistic fuckwad is that he IS us......

So then the answer becomes what's wrong with god and religion is it's all made up bullshit used to excuse our own behavior.

Ever think of that? Didn't think so.

  • @physicalgravy "Actually I don't have a problem with gay people. I think it's gross and a fucked in their genetics but I don't think they are evil."

Well I have a problem with douchebags like you that think that's an acceptable thing to say about another human being.

  • @moopism such epic pwnage i rarely get to see. good on you mate.

  • @werewolf873 Called it like I saw it.

  • @physicalgravy We are not bit pissed about religion, and we are generally very happy with the absence of it. I know if says in that magical book to "Spread this truth" to everyone you come across, some of us just do not want to be bothered with it. So if you stop spreading your fantasy, we will stop bitching about it. Do not pray in our schools and we will not think in your church.

  • @physicalgravy "I just never understood why atheists care so much about religion."

Maybe it's because believers have this nasty habit of trying to wrest political control over their societies, establishing oppressive theocracies, and torturing those who disagree (see the inquisition, and the republican party).

The fact that you can't own up to that is either an indication of your immense duplicity or unbridled stupidity. Or both. At the tender age of 22, my vote goes to brainwashed and stupid.

  • People dont need to live longer in their evil state, they need to turn and connect to God and enjoy the life of God forever. All else is misery and emptiness. These vids are reasoning of evil, deceiving men to eternal death and separation from their creator.

  • God has great patience with the evil ppl of the world but they just keep getting worse and worse. God must display his wrath

    1. As a warning of the eternal wrath to come

    2. To protect the righteous

    3. To hinder the spread of evil

  • "Well suit yourself with that Lord, but listen..."

    haha

  • what about free will - is this what Wittgenstein meant by Langauge Games? Of course it is

  • look their face xDDDDD

  • xDDD This is great yet so simple xDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • This is genius.

  • What you are missing: You are saying that God/Jesus (not the same BTW) should have just fixed things. Well if that would've happened we would have just screwed them up again ! We need to actually change for things to change. All misery in the world is a reflection of our soul condition & if we all chose Love 24/7 then the world would change. But we don't do we ? God's Laws are perfect & this world & its suffering reflects our choices

  • @MrZapatista44 God's Laws are not perfect. Example: Executing people because they work on a Sunday is not a perfect law. But, I agree with you when you imply that WE need to make the world better and not wait for a deity to do so. Cheers!

  • @davidmerriss Tht isn't one of God's Laws but one of mans ... the bible is bullshit & no i am not christian .. i loathe religion ... but i don't allow religion to own god ... that would be silly ... we don't even respect religion ... Stop trying to define God & allow God to define herself to you ...

  • @MrZapatista44 "You are saying that God/Jesus (not the same BTW)"

according to the bible they are, havent you read it?

    " God's Laws are perfect"

    let the stoning begin! wooo!

  • @OmfgItsHenu the bible is a joke & was not written by God ... obviously ...

  • @MrZapatista44 theres a thread to promote christianity, this is not that one

  • @momentumbbv God does not equal christianity ... i am not a christian ... we need to divorce God from religion & Jesus from Christianity ...

  • @MrZapatista44 shut the fuck up u stupid christian....

get over that book of lies u call the "holy" bible, watch the other videos if u still think the bible is legit. if u still believe in it after that then there is no hoe for u.....

  • @PBP113 again i am not a christian & i agree the bible is silly ... but why let religion define God for you ? Why not investigate for yourself ..??

  • Genius! I've watched almost all your videos now and this may be my favorite! I'll be using this video to help enlighten others to bring them out of their fear based life. Thank you for sharing your vast bible knowledge and taking the time to create these videos!

  • so thats why satan was kicked out of heaven

  • Poor angels they had such good ideals

  • Blasphemous !!!BASTARDS!!! THIS NEVER HAPPENED.. I NEVER MET WITH MY ANGELS TO SPEAK ABOUT THIS ISSUE,,, SHAME ON YOU NONSTAMPCOLLECTOR.. I WILL SEE YOU SOON IN HEAVEN,,,

  • It would have been a lot better if you had taken the time to think about the glaring scholarly errors you were making for the sake of your propaganda. Unfortunately, you end up being no better than those you criticize and the whole thing is just another dirty joke which George Carlin did better a long time ago. Sorry.

  • I think I love you.

You put everything I need to say into a simplistic video which ridicules and simplifies all my points, so I don't have to!

    :3

  • Fabulous and funny.

  • Wonderful !

  • I don't believe the Bible too. For us, who don't simple believe in anything some people tell us, there are only two outputs: being an atheist (which I personally consider the easiest and pleasant way) or searching for an even more incovenient "true" (I'm using it in q. marks since noone of us know the real truth). I'm talking about spiritism/kardecism. Sounds like a propaganda, but if I were you, I would search (and read) for this before getting any conclusion. Its science, philosophy, religion.

  • YOU.... ARE.... AWSOME!!! this is soo clever and soo true

  • I guess you are a pretty hardcore atheist

  • @ReddoFreddo True, I am. But I'm a harder-core a-leprechaun-ist.

  • @NonStampCollector And that is? If I may ask?

And btw, the bible is written 500 years after Jesus's death by monks who are not allowed to have sex for a life time. Its not written by God or Jesus so the idea of a God and Jesus isnt that bad if you ask me

  • @ReddoFreddo If you discount what the Bible says because of when and by whom it was written, where do you get the idea of Jesus from?

  • @noforbiddenquestions jesuswas a nice guy, such a nice guy that everyone believed what he said and told stories about him those stories came in the bible, and thats it. And it doesnt metter if God makes us suffer cause if we live good we'll end up in heaven dont we? better a suffering cristian than a suffering atheist! (im not even cristian btw o_O)

  • @ReddoFreddo I've read the Bible, and I don't think Jesus was such a nice guy. According to what the Bible says, he made his message hard to understand (with parables) so that people couldn't figure it out and wouldn't be saved. He obliterated a fig tree because he wanted figs and it wasn't fig season. For all his supposed message of love and tolerance, he was derisive of people different from him (Samaritans, Greeks, Pharisees). He made promises about prayer that we can see simply aren't true.
