Goat slaughtering is a part of rituals in many segment(read most) in this country....I think it is inherited from practices of Hindu religion (the Shaktism).....although animal sacrifice is common to most religions(Including Christianity, Islam, Judaism etc.)....it is becoming a less wanted thing...I often see people sacrificing vegetables(like bottle gourd) instead of animals.

I too can't stand those cruel scenes of killing life.
