to lock it you need to make and and gate connecting to the pressure plate and the swich that locks it cant use a button for the lock swich then connect the and gate to the door and do what he did

@Thehunterpwn might want to look it up in a dictionary, i'm not sure I can explain properly..But it basicly means Change it to it's opposite. So if one wire is normally off, you need to make it on.

Inverting is changing the current, so the doors, ones open, ones closed, you need > to change < the current so that they are both closed.

If you double invert the left door, you can have all your circuits underground.

Just use an AND gate for a lock... I learned that from you. Like the painting hidden door. One lever to go in ( thats replaced with the pressure plate) and the other lever is your lock... JUST like the painting door.

make an lever connected to an AND gate

the other side of the AND gate is your pleassure plate redstone

how it works?

once the lever is on

and stepping on the plates, the door opens

once the lever is off

even if you step on the plates the lever wont let power trough.

@goochie347 it -was- a minecart tower, I planned on having a massive tower with minecarts leading to various locations, though I scrapped the idea. Mostly because I just didn't have enough locations to link it to.

ahh nice idea for the torch under the door.. never thought of that.... i use a tower of torches and blocks to make a vertical wire.

i made a video a few days ago which is another idea. i'd say it's more simple, but this one hides the redstone better. nice one

Hey man, beautifully concise mechanism there! I worked on double doors tow days ago for the first time and got it working just the same as here, but with a whole mess of crap under he hood. I made a lock on the inside though, and got it to work just fine. :)

I'll send you a PM trying to describe how I got it to work. I don't know anything about the names of logic gates and recognizing them, so although I could probably just say "use a ____ gate" I won't.

@cxgamer Tons of people ask me to make redstone video's but I barely know the basics myself. I can't make really cool stuff, plus I don't really have a need for a lock on single player :P

@Tyken132 Ooh right. It's really not that hard once you figure it out. Though I recommend experimenting with the different gates, rather than just to copy scematics that work. =P

thanks, after watching one of your redstone tutorials, ("the panic room") Ive began to understand redstone and ive made a mini city using, double doors, a single door with a hidden switch, a panic room, self destruct sequence, and a bank vault that begins the self destruct sequence if you use the wrong lever to open the door.

For educational purposes I think it would have been better to shoot the video in daylight. I'd also prefer using no texture pack (they fit better in showoff videos).

As far as i can tell the only way to do a lock mechanism would be to set an and gate just before each door. One input being the switch and the other being the pressure plate.

Simple to figure out, difficult to implement without a whole mess of redstone :p

@LoifLoif I had the same problem, but if you put an inverter on each side where the redstone is going to the door it will work, if your new you probly wont understand this, so hope that Tyken will make a video on this fix. hope you understand :)

Humm, I generally use two torches under the doors and one torch to reverse the on/off between doors, which allows me to hide the wires better, even with glass walls or fences. What you showed pretty much requires opaque walls on either side of the doors.
