On Easy you rush straight towards enemies with the Assault Rifle or something. On Normal you still own but you gotta do more than running straight forward. On Heroic you really gotta take cover and use your skills. On Legendary you either need a plan for every fighting part or just be pro enough to know in every situation what to do. But you'll always need a plan if you add some skulls like Thunderstorm or Mythic.

There's many ways to play the Campaign.

Theres blood, but its blue and purple. Sometimes red but not likely. Its just aliens. The language isnt bad. They dont say F**** or B**** they just say ass. And thats rare. They say stupid, dumb. Not bad. if your like under 12 some parts can be scary. But im 13 wasnt that scary. Wasnt scary at all. Just tell them that it doesnt have any curses or inappropriate content. I dont even know why its rated M.
