i used to work on 216 sqn for 4 and half years so seeing this video puts a special memory in my heart. i was cabin crew and what a lovely aircraft to work on.
This Beauty flew me down to the Falklands in 1988 - what a wonderful Aircraft. Love the sound of the engines spooling up

@drmartyn The RAF still operate them, untill 2016, when teh A330-MRTT will replace them, and Las Vegas Sand Corps fly one

The rvr was probably below operational minimums so they had to divert.

when i was on 216, if brize norton was fogbound we always used manchester as our first diversion airfield

Yes, quite a few. They are used for troop carrying, freight and air to air refuelling.
