@jellovero It's Lotus Palm's Thai Massage Mat, at lotuspalm(dot)com. I have tried many different types of mats, and this is still the best: stable, level, comfortable for the client and protects the practitioner's knees.
@DeadlyChinchilla It is! While working, I'm also assuming stable yoga postures, and constantly rocking - which transfers my body weight, but also the motion transfers to the recipient, so it is very calming for both our nervous systems
@ninibestiole i would. The passive stretching and mobilizations may help alleviate the symptoms and, *depending on what's causing your sciatica* possibly clear it. the rocking motion also helps to soothe the nervous system (which can be pretty fried if you're living in pain). be sure to discuss your condition with the therapist, and if you have any imaging reports (MRI, etc), that's helpful too.
@GoldenThaiYoga thanks sooo much ^^ I have full imaging reports as I've been suffering for 2 years now with ups and downs unfortunatly more downs periods . And you're right the nervous system is quite a mess after all this time . It's a friend of mine who talked to me about thai massage and I'm happy that you agree with her too ^^
Nice ergonomics and good flow, thanks for sharing. I live in Chiang Mai Thailand and Thai Massage is also my full time profession. It is always inspiring to see good Thai Massage videos.
i am therapist also. being part of this profession makes me feel proud when somebody appreciate what our profession. i really like thai massage it inspire me more to learn advance thai massage. I love it... thanks for the great video
The music, the movement, the engagement, the confidence, all present and in the moment. Very good work. I envy your skills as a therapist, and your demo as a client.
@wiggalama That's funny, my Thai massage master, Kam Thye Chow, often says that if everyone could give the gift of skilled, compassionate touch to one other person, we would have world peace, "Thai massage can change the world!" :-)
This looks so relaxing! And you definitely have your routine down - you don't miss a beat at all. Thanks for the video, and would love to see more soon.
i prefer to place the pillow underneath the sternum, allowing a more comfortable neck position, otherwise looks like a wonderful thai massage. I love the music by Desert Dwellers
Thank you Swift! Glad you enjoyed. The songs I use are always credited at the end of my videos & in the text/info. This one is Pranafestation by Desert Dwellers, there's like to buy it in my website's shop at goldenthaiyoga (dot com)
@ModBeatnikGirl Hi, thanks for asking. I did these videos after having taken 3x 5-day classes and umpteen practices following each. It's surprisingly easy to learn, that's one of the beautiful things about Thai massage, and learning continues the rest of one's life. xoxo -s.
Nice transitions but what about the sin sib lines. I've trained I Thailand for 4 years and have studied alot about energy lines the problem with massage taught in the states is that they just go through the moves and they really don't understand Thai massage.
Thanks for your comment, I can only answer for myself, not the States - and besides, I'm in Canada (lol)
This is a "demo", to show what Thai massage looks like, basically. (Can you imagine how dull it would be to watch Sen line work? Not good video effect)
Second, in every posture the sen lines are being worked. Any time you palm/thumb/step, etc) it is along a sen line. In a complete massage, the work follows the lines, in a video, we go for the wow effect ;-)
Love your transitions and dance! I use this initial transition. Many thanks. This video inspired our Thai Massage collective, we created a transition from prone to supine, check out our vid. metta
great vid. I'm gonna try some of this on my wife. she has recurrent leg pain.
btw, nice soundtrack. if you like ambient stuff like Desert Dwellers, you might check out Carbon Based Lifeforms and Androcell. both have a lot of great vids here on youtube.
You are very welcome and I think I will recieve one soon!!! My birthday is coming up so why not treat myself!! Sadly I can't get one from your practise because I live in Ireland!!! Yes, we too happy???, Irish need a bit of massage now and again!!! But when travelling around the world I'll be heading to Canada??(that's right), lotus palms Goldenthaiyoga massage will my first destination!! All my best wishes for the future!!! X;)
Every since stumbling onto this video a couple of months ago, I've never been able not to watch it at least once in the day!!! This massage therpy looks very professional and affective!!! I think I'm hooked!!! Overall a brill and yet different styled massage!! Tops!!
if you're that hooked on watching a Thai massage, you should try receiving one!
i remember the first time i received one, i just said "wow." i was amazed. and after taking my first class, i knew i not only wanted to practice it for the rest of my life, but that i wanted to teach it too!and it changed my life!
You are a good teacher :) I watch carrefully your movements and I though, with some practice I will be able to make almost the same movements. Obvoiusly, each person has a personally style.
I will see and the site, perhaps I will buy some DVD's with lessons of thai yoga massage.
What gets taught to students in a beginners yoga class. Im looking to increase my flexibilty to the amount of weight lifting I do. I want more flexibilty and mobility in muscles.
your comment is on a Thai massage video, so to answer your question about yoga:
in a beginner yoga class (active, unassisted stretching), you can expect to be told exactly where to place which hand and foot, all details down to finger positions. the instructor comes around to correct & help you. yoga forms vary mainly by the postures ("asana") in a sequence, duration each posture is held, breathing techniques, etc.
Thai massage is passive, assisted yoga; you are being stretched.
Personally, I think receiving a Thai massage is a good way to become aware of what muscles are tight, what limitations you may have, or wish to work on. Nearly every client that comes to me says "let me warn you, i am SO not flexible". "Not flexible" is not the same thing as simply needing a good stretch :-)
Master Duncan Wong says, Thai massage is yoga prep, yoga is martial arts prep.
