HELP! I have a rooted Nook Color and cannot download the netflix app from B&N or find it in the market after searching. The app says it's been purchased on B&N but is nowhere to be found in the apps. So, I have been following the steps on this video up to the point of the editing. It doesn't say "Nook Color" next to ro.product.model and other lines are different as well. I'm afraid I'm going to EFFF up my nook completely. What is the best way to proceed???

When I went to the market, my Nook told me that I wasn't able to download either of those programs, so I downloaded the apk's and downloaded them that way, but ES Note editor won't save the new file, and everything is just all around buggy... are there other mods that you're running that allow you to use these things?
@TheBluntNinja Yes. As the video shows you have to alter the settings in EStrongs File Explorer to allow root access and set your starting(home) directory to root "/". Then when you long press build.prop you can open it in Estrongs' text editor to make the changes and save the file. If it says you can't save, then you don't yet have the /system directory in r/w access.
@TheBluntNinja That being the case you are not rooted or you may have permissions problems. There is an app called "fix permissions". Probably worth a try to download that app and run it to go through and fix permissions. Then reboot and then try to run superuser. There's also an app called "Check Root" and it can tell you if you are rooted.

I've read up that a lot of people have had problems with CM7 whether installing it or killing off 5 days of the battery life. I've also ready that Froyo may be unstable enough to over heat the nook. I'm not real sure if it's worth hacking it if I melt it, I don't think I could get my money back...

Works great on my OC'd Nook Color with CM7 (nightly 143). I got the superfast audio/video and the Vision edit did work for me.

Maybe a silly question but, my nook is freshly rooted from an sd card using cryogen7 7.0.3. The netflix app does not show in market as said in other posts. Will adding the app from that xda forum to my rooted sd card cause any problems? Or, should I make changes so that my nook looks like an htc or something and then see if the app appears in the market?

I just upgraded CM7 (7.1.0). After I've done that, I found the movies played on Netflix do not come out well at all: the movies are being played at faster speed making them not watchable. What happened? Can it be fixed?

Thank you so much. The hardest part was finding the netflix apk, as it is no longer in the marketplace. This worked like a charm and along with my wifi tethered phone, I am sitting in the park eating lunch and watching "Top Gear".
BTW, your other videos have been very useful as well. Have you found a way to proxy to the UK so you can run the BBC iPlayer and watch local BBC over the net? I can do it on the PC with foxyproxy, but have not found a way in android.
I heard that the Color was" OK" for the price and could be made a "little" better with some work and, seeing your first video convinced me enough to give it a try as a kinda fun "toy"...

I was having the chipmunk voice (super-speedy sound) problem and followed the directions to make it an HTC phone rather than a Nexus S. It works perfectly now.

If you cannot find Netflix in the Market, or if you're getting update messages on the app, download the new Netflix apk from the description. It should work.

Did everything, the app seems to work fine until it's time for the movie to start streaming. It never attempts to buffer or play, just a black screen.
I followed all the steps on my Nook Color, rooted with CM7 per your instructional video. I had no errors. I load up Netflix and try to resume a movie I was watching on my desktop earlier. The screen goes dark for several seconds (at times I'm offered the opportunity to force quit) and then I get the error "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later ... (12001)". What might I have done incorrectly and what might I do to fix it?
So I thought to myself, "since I downloaded Netflix first, why not try and see if it works without any modifications"....and IT WORKS!! I didn't need to do any of this...I just downloaded Netflix and it works fine.......

I got all the way to opening the Netflix app after rebooitng and I get an error that says to make sure my device's date and time are updated. I checked that they are fine and I still can't open the app.

I accidentally changed product brand to samsung instead of manufacturer. I saved it and of course Netflix won't work. However, when I tried to correct it, it would not let me save it and properties state that it is read only. How can I use my original saved build prop and place it back? Thanks, Mark

ES File Explorer would except my changes to the Build.prop file. Is there a reason this would happen. I'm CM7 that i folllow from your direction and that went fine. But when i try and change the file names it says error occured when trying to save the file. Root Explorer does not allow to change text because it says its read only file
@CaliHawaiianBadAsses This happened to me. You have to toggle to R/W at the top of the page. It took me a while to figure it out. Keep trying, it works!
@jvasquec honestly, it was tricky for me and I don't know exactly what made it work. It took several tries. I can't remember if the R/W or the R/O was initially black or white but I kept tapping on them and toggling until it worked. I tried it on the first screen as well as the screen with build.prop. My guess is to do it on all the screens. Good luck! It will work!

Thanks! Downloaded it and was able to change the file. Although I'm able to open Netflix and browse my queue, I get the Netflix is not available on this device when I hit play. I used Vision and Htc. I may restart from the begging to see.
@huskermania Used HTC, just didn't type it correctly here. I get the error as soon as i open Netflix up, but when I hit OK, it continues loading. So I can browse my Queue and all, only when I hit play does it come with the error again, and this time it can't get passed it. I made sure i put "Vision" and "HTC" (without quotes)

@TheBluntNinja You can't save the file because you didn't get read/write access to the system folder.
If market didn't allow those downloads then you have other problems.
Make sure you have better market access for your device and you may haveto chg your fingerprint in build.prop.

I used these EXACT spellings in my nook color runing CM7 Phiremod::
No Spaces after the = sign. only space between Samsung and S
if you want to know if it worked. Reboot after saving the below mods. Go on android market and see if the nook is seen as a Samsung S.

I was having the chipmunk voice (super-speedy sound) problem and followed the directions to make it an HTC phone rather than a Nexus S. It works perfectly now.

Hi Alex. I just set up my Nook Color and am using a boot disk to run CM7. I tried to follow your instructions here and could not save the changes to the build.prop or mount the root. Also the netlfix app is not available in the current version of the Android market. How do I copy the file from your link to the market? I look forward to your response :)

wait actually guys....you do NOT have to re follow Huskers video...the XDA forums new update apk file...is already able to just play netflix automatically...here is the update they did on 6/22/11... com.netflix.mediaclient.-1-apk like i said go to the forum..i think i just typed "new netflix app" in the search box to find it...then read my comment below to install on nook...and btw...if you guys are EVER stuck using your rooted nook...always check out the XDA forum. lot of great info there.

hey santyani and estanep...go to the XDA forum ...they just uplaoaded a new apk file to download to your pc (the neflix app offical),,mount sd to your pc....install apk file AS IS...then on your nook download the Easy Installer app from the market....mount your sd to nook..open Easy Installer app...it should automatically read apk...and install then follow huskers video again with es explorer...oh and one important thing...go to settings and make sure you allow non-market apps!!

If you cannot find Netflix in the Market, or if you're getting update messages on the app, download the new Netflix apk from the description. It should work.

@huskermania I don't understand what to do with the apk. These videos are much less confusing than the forums are. Any chance we could get a video? I modified my nook settings with ES File explorer fine, but I can't seem to find any way to get the netflix app downloaded. I'm using the same CM7.0.2, and followed your other video exactly. Don't understand why I can't get the app

I followed all the steps on my Nook Color, rooted with CM7 per your instructional video. I had no errors. I load up Netflix and try to resume a movie I was watching on my desktop earlier. The screen goes dark for several seconds (at times I'm offered the opportunity to force quit) and then I get the error "Sorry we could not reach the Netflix service. Please try again later ... (12001)". What might I have done incorrectly and what might I do to fix it?

I got all the way to opening the Netflix app after rebooitng and I get an error that says to make sure my device's date and time are updated. I checked that they are fine and I still can't open the app.

I accidentally changed product brand to samsung instead of manufacturer. I saved it and of course Netflix won't work. However, when I tried to correct it, it would not let me save it and properties state that it is read only. How can I use my original saved build prop and place it back? Thanks, Mark

ES File Explorer would except my changes to the Build.prop file. Is there a reason this would happen. I'm CM7 that i folllow from your direction and that went fine. But when i try and change the file names it says error occured when trying to save the file. Root Explorer does not allow to change text because it says its read only file

@CaliHawaiianBadAsses This happened to me. You have to toggle to R/W at the top of the page. It took me a while to figure it out. Keep trying, it works!

@jvasquec honestly, it was tricky for me and I don't know exactly what made it work. It took several tries. I can't remember if the R/W or the R/O was initially black or white but I kept tapping on them and toggling until it worked. I tried it on the first screen as well as the screen with build.prop. My guess is to do it on all the screens. Good luck! It will work!

Thanks! Downloaded it and was able to change the file. Although I'm able to open Netflix and browse my queue, I get the Netflix is not available on this device when I hit play. I used Vision and Htc. I may restart from the begging to see.

@huskermania Used HTC, just didn't type it correctly here. I get the error as soon as i open Netflix up, but when I hit OK, it continues loading. So I can browse my Queue and all, only when I hit play does it come with the error again, and this time it can't get passed it. I made sure i put "Vision" and "HTC" (without quotes)
